Inverter microwaves have a transformer but it works at a much higher frequency so it does not need a big heavy iron transformer. Also the ceramic used in the magnetron if shattered the dast is carsonagenic
Hey Ben, another very educational video! Could you please make a video about different grades of wire according to your scrapyard and how you personally go about to maximize the profit dealing with it. Thanks.
Dude, what the fuck! 14:06 "This stuff here.. Soft coppah" ... Do you even now what that wire is and how much is worth on ebay? More than the whole oven at the scrap yard, and a DIYers would pay even more if it's still attached to the rest of the transformer you just crushed to pieces
Another interesting vid Ben, thanks. My yard pays different price for Cu/Cu transformers vs Cu/Al transformers. I use a wood file to expose the wires to make it easier at the yard.
Aside from scrapping, inverters are much better cooking devices. The PWM circuit gives you a smooth ramp of power instead of blast food - off - blast cycling. Doesn't superheat the outside of your food as much and cooks more evenly, though it takes longer on lower power which is good. Nevertheless, it's still a microwave.
I know the answer to that, they use multiple strands as it's: a) More efficient, which does matter given 600-900w microwaves. b) Earlier to wind, as wire more flexible and easier to pack close together. c) Less risk of wires snapping from vibration, solid wire is easier to snap. d) Transformer is higher frequency in inverter microwaves, so complex technical reasons behind how the transformer is constructed.
4 years ago sure you might have a 20% ratio of aluminum to copper but now it's a different story. Here in western Canada you're lucky to find a brick style copper transformer 10% of the time, the other 90% are all aluminum now.
Dam I repair old Microwave, flatscreen TV, project electronics and refrigerator and fix battery for drill as a hobby. I’m looking at all those resistor capacitors ribbon cable . See money thrown away. The carpenters had some Milwaukee battery that went bad 12 amp hour I fix for him and gave him 5 year warranty on top of that . Like I say it a throw away economy I call recycle center and bought a pallet of broken flat screen TV last month. They charge me $40 for 100 plus broken Tv. Friend will ask me to repair stuff once in a while . If it a really expensive to buy a new one. I like to keep extra parts on Hand.
Mr. greens boat tanks and aluminium welding the magnetron have an element inside that causes cancer... there is a ceramic piece inside that when broken and the cover removed will allow the element to go airborne and cause lung cancer
because accidents never happen to good people, right? Honestly, those magnets are not worth the risk. Need magnets? Scrap speakers but leave the magnatrons alone.
id take an inverter over a transformer mic any day of the week, did a test recently and for 15 transformer mics, each with 2 coils in them, so out of 30 coils that could have possibly been copper, only 3 were... might have hit a bad run. but it chews up time so i dont bother stripping out mic transformers anymore. just choose to leave them whole. guess id rather keep some time up my sleeve in preference to being punked by aluminium ftransformer coils
Could you use the inverter to power three phase motors ???? Would you let me know if you would sell me the capacitors from the ovens ??? How do you know which transformers have half and half copper aluminum wire ???
No they cant. Magnetrons have ceramic magnets, a tungsten filaments, dangerous aluminum oxide insulators, and almost no copper. They should be sorted in another pile. Or better yet, thrown away and not bothered with.
Inverter microwaves have a transformer but it works at a much higher frequency so it does not need a big heavy iron transformer. Also the ceramic used in the magnetron if shattered the dast is carsonagenic
The inverter is easier to remove the copper but you get less of it! Great to learn the difference! 👍👍
Love your stuff man! One of the legendary scrappers of UA-cam for sure! :)
Also, I use tin snips to cut a lot of the pieces off inverter boards, etc.. It has longer reach and makes the job a lot easier.
Great job again mate. Thanks for the little more education. Every bit counts!
Knowing that they are tiny, I stockpile the switches for the silver contacts inside. Great info on the inverter type microwave.
Chris from the ultimate recycler gets $5 per magnet is two magnets in the microwave. It's pretty good value cheers Graham
the first time i scrapped one of those inverter microwaves I kept looking for the "hidden" transformer. I felt really cheated when it was missing!
And that's how I stumbled upon this video!
Same I just scrap one and I was looking for the transformer and I can't find any I said wtf where is it

What about difference from the non rotating plate vs. rotating plate?
TY very much Ben. Nice vid. Now I know to difference of those micros. But which one is better to valuable? and how much ?
Pls can I use other electromagnet for the inverter microwave
I do it most often as far as sizes are fitting same.
Do you know of any compact inverter ovens w/o turntable? Looking for something to use in a boat.
Dude, what the fuck!

Please ordinary microwave magnetron is the same as inverter own? Please I need response.Thanks.
Inverter models does have a transformer but much smaller as it is operating at high frequency.
What do you do with the microwave magnets thanks?
Another interesting vid Ben, thanks. My yard pays different price for Cu/Cu transformers vs Cu/Al transformers. I use a wood file to expose the wires to make it easier at the yard.
I have only pulled apart 2 mikes, both were copper coated aluminum. Was fun to pull apart but my hands got cut up pretty bad lol.
I just took apart one of these kinds. i was surprised to see no big iron transformer and big high voltage capacitor.
Yes, where hides that deadly stinger ⚡?
why is there a fan only in the inverter microwave?
You left behind two awesome magnets.
If yes ,then for how much minutes or hours regular ?
Why not the table spinning motor
Drinking game: take a drink every time he says "Copper" and "Aluminium" :)
Megatron , transformers ? The battle of Microwaves ;];p
Metatron magnetron actually

My microwave has no indication when swithed on.fuse ,power supply is ok.so problem in pcb what?i don't know.pl tell how to check power pcb
I wish to purchase it 👍From where I can purchase it in India?
the 800watts microwave transformer it’s usually burned out very quickly after long used
Thanks Ben.. That is some good information.....
Inverter microwaves were invented to reduce the shipping weight of the product so manufacturers can save money on shipping costs.
Great video keep em coming!!!
Thanks Ben..
Well done Ben👊
I just scraped a microwave with an inverter as well. Do you know why the thicker copper wire is stranded instead of solid?
I know the answer to that, they use multiple strands as it's:
a) More efficient, which does matter given 600-900w microwaves.
b) Earlier to wind, as wire more flexible and easier to pack close together.
c) Less risk of wires snapping from vibration, solid wire is easier to snap.
d) Transformer is higher frequency in inverter microwaves, so complex technical reasons behind how the transformer is constructed.
The only reason why there are multiple strands is because of the skin effect.
Ah, ok. Thank you. :)

There is no charge left in the capacitor, There cant be, There is a discharging resistor inside
PETR DOLEZAL When doing work like this, never trust the resistor, they can fail.
RCM how, they cant burn out
PETR DOLEZAL resistors can burnout if they get too much voltage, or go open circuit. I've gotten bit by a capacitor that had a resistor that failed.
ok
Great stuff
+eWaste Ben, you can take out the magnetron and sell it with the electric motors.
Why do you not talk about the copper spool? the darker copper I’m confused , you even leave them on your motherboards
Dam I repair old Microwave, flatscreen TV, project electronics and refrigerator and fix battery for drill as a hobby.

Nice 1 mate!!! I like crafty copper.👍
What about mosfets and other parts yoy want to recycle reuse repurpose those
Good job.
Hey Mate how are you cleaning the plastic or rubber off AC cords
I don't, just sell as is, same value if not better
eWaste Ben cool thanks for sharing
Dont you take the magnets out of the magnatrons?
Mr. greens boat tanks and aluminium welding the magnetron have an element inside that causes cancer... there is a ceramic piece inside that when broken and the cover removed will allow the element to go airborne and cause lung cancer
Don't break the ceramic piece and you will be safe.
because accidents never happen to good people, right? Honestly, those magnets are not worth the risk. Need magnets? Scrap speakers but leave the magnatrons alone.
luckygen1001 lmao!!
luckygen1001 if u remove the magnetron cover then u will have a problem

Just a shame they only last 2-3 years instead of 20-30 years
You should at least scrap out 1 Megatron you'll be really surprised at how much copper is in there I did it several times but I do love your Channel
Glad to now know the difference, thanks for sharing Ben
don't forget about the turntable motor
Did u know the motor to turn the plate can be used to generate electric?there's videos on UA-cam showing how to do it!👍😉
Every electric motor turns into a generator if you rotate the axle.
Can inverter help cool or freeze water instead of heating as microwave
Get some education.
the igbt on the extruded aluminum cost more than everything else scrap
My heart was bleeding when he tore into that circuit board. I would have salvaged the caps and the Igbt and some others and toss out the transformer.
I scrapped 5 microwaves and they all had double aluminium transformors, my luck..
Could you use the inverter to power three phase motors ???? Would you let me know if you would sell me the capacitors from the ovens ??? How do you know which transformers have half and half copper aluminum wire ???
The converter design is my work from 2017. ....... 🌐7//_🔥
So the the core is pheryte! Thx!
Sir, I would like to ask can this microwave inverter works properly ?
the 7to8 watts microwave transformer is not strong like the 2,000watts transformer
cool like it
Because true meaning of inverter is 180 degree wave of microwave
Junk Magnetrons can go in with the scrap electric motors!
No they cant. Magnetrons have ceramic magnets, a tungsten filaments, dangerous aluminum oxide insulators, and almost no copper. They should be sorted in another pile. Or better yet, thrown away and not bothered with.
@@theq4602 My nonferrous yard buys them as motors, they've been doing it for years. It depends on the scrap yard, the anode and filter have copper.
Inverter is a scam, they get non working after 2 years.
Nagnetron probably has more copper than all the wire combined: it is a solid chunk of machined copper.
I hate these videos with scraping stuff. Good, i got 2 MOTS for free, from scrap! Now i can my make HV supply 6kV
Never buy microwave with inverter tech , the do suck...mine died after only 4 months, apparently the inverter unit is as costly as a new microwave
Fucken devastator
What a weird narrator. Does he understand himself? I have doubts.
You make me laugh because you are not using metric units. (Like bloody Yanks.) Don't your mates ridicule you? haha.
Waste of time
YUP NICE ..... VIDEO ...! I LIKE IT ..... GO FOR MORE ....
