@Einars Dubrovskis ITF Grand Slam rulebook: O. Verbal Abuse For the purposes of this Rule, verbal abuse is defined as a statement about an official, opponent, sponsor, spectator or other person that implies dishonesty or is derogatory, insulting or otherwise abusive.
@Einars Dubrovskis "thief" and "liar" may not be insults in the normal world, but in the tennis world it is considered so, if you go by the rules. It explicitly states that verbal abuse includes anything that implies the official was dishonest. By calling him a "thief", you're implying that the official stole a point away from you. "Stealing" meaning that the official should not have given the point and he was wrong. Which implies dishonesty.
@Einars Dubrovskis No one expects the tennis player to explicitly say "you are dishonest" to the umpire to receive a penalty - it is all about what is implied. A liar is being dishonest, but being dishonest doesn't mean you're lying, there are many forms of dishonesty, for example being deceitful in nature, calling him a thief clearly aligns with calling someone dishonest. It is however, incredibly dishonest of you to make the argument that liar and thief do not imply deceitfulness, even after the controversy the ITF agreed with Ramos and even fined her. Assuming what you said is true (which it isn't, you idiot), Serena was clearly derogatory against Ramos, not only at the end when calling him a liar and a thief, but also before this, I was more surprised that he took it so well at the beginning than I was surprised that he gave her the penalty. Stop making yourself look stupid.
@Einars Dubrovskis Again, the ITF backed Ramos because he did everything by the book, you can continue crying. Also, you seem to misunderstand, it says that it "implies dishonesty", this means that it implies that the umpire was dishonest, which she did. Regardless, Serena was dishonest, she said she never got coached, but her coach later stated that he was coaching and that "everyone did it". Whether or not she said she respected him after the match is irrelevant, the fact is that she was derogatory to him in the match and got punished, so before you make yourself look like more of an idiot, learn the English language, stop being a Serena fanboy and accept that not everyone is perfect.
Seems to me if the chair sees coaching they should just remove the coach not penalize the player. That being said Serena did herself in smashing her racquet, then acting like the men are treated different, then playing the victim claiming Ramos was attacking her character despite him making the proper calls, then she attacked Ramos's character calling him a thief. Then the water works came as she probably came to the realization that she shot herself in the foot after losing her temper and arguing because of somthing her coach did, which would have cost her nothing if she just kept her cool.

Yeah Nole is actually right here because he didnt hit the ball at the umpires direction and he was going through some emotions at the moment, umpire shouldnt have given him the warning but in the end it doesnt matter cause Nole won.
Vele Korunoski he should've given him warning. It's not like he deducted any points or took away his second serve. It's obvious he was upset and wanted to hit the ball at the umpire and went to do it but realised that wouldn't be appropriate
Tom Deverson No, Djokovic said he didn't mean to hit the umpire he meant it to tell him to stop annoying him, I mean he lift the racquet to say as a stop sign saying stop annoying me, the umpire missunderstood him thinking he wanted to hit him thats why he gave him the warning. You realize Djokovic first is saying 'What did I say'? Then he said, 'In your direction, did I hit the ball in your direction? -No' says the umpire. 'Then why did you give me a warning'? Then after that he said quietlyto the umpire 'Your losing your mind, I told you to stop annoying me.' Thats it.
Vele Korunoski at 0:37 Djokovic raises his racket behind his head, puts his hand (with tennis balls held) in a position to raise the balls towards the racket. This isn't telling him to stop. I don't know what planet you're on my friend but this wasn't him telling the umpire to stop annoying him. Djokovic was just being whinny and annoying like he always is.
Tom Deverson To be honest dude I just heard Djokovic say to the umpire 'your losing your mind, I was telling you to stop annoying me'. Now only God knows what really actually was the problem.
He made a gesture and only got a warning, the video starts off mentioning other violations not being enforced, so why was he only given a warning? The commentator points out that Ramos only gave soft warnings before, so how many violations was he allowed to have before he finally got just a warning? He never gave Serena a soft warning, just immediately gave her a violation for something her coach did. This video actually proves her right, thanks for posting.
They're talking about the time violation rule lol. Which isn't enforced if you're late by half a second. It's not something against the umpire like it was with Serena, for a violation like coaching.

Manners should be controlled to ceratain point, but some anger has to be let there and then, as it is the only healthy way, especially for people under so much pressure. The rules should not be that tight.
you will never see roger federer doing this
@@juanestebankruhsanmguel1960 jajaja he made bad word sometimes, you did not see him angry
But they are because this is a gentlemen sport.
That's the whole point of tennis
Umpire is 100% correct, he did abused him and then again I understand it’s a tough sport and novak didn’t argued because he knew he did behaved like unsportsman. Novak agreed like a Man
No? He didn’t argue because he wanted to move on. Sportmanship is a made up concept.
He said "on 4-0 he gave me a warning, what the fck is going on" and got warning, where was umpire correct
I don't think his speech and gesture was refered to umpire
this is the difference between federer and djokovic, federer would have never done this
what? Old federer would have just like any young tennis player. Every tennis player has their fair share of arguments with the umpire
@@akindumarasinghe131 He means Federer will never curse an umpire
Federer did worse lol
@Anonymous man look up Federer in the 2009 us open final. Swore constantly at the umpire, more than Djokovic ever has
In my opinion, one of the worst chair umpires in the game. He ruined Osaka vs Serena match, this one and many more 👎🏼
But he didn’t penalized him.. 🤷♀️
Ervira Rosiana 1st warning= nothing, 2nd warning= you lose 1 point, 3rd warning= 1 game. Here Djoko control himself and don’t make it worse, Serena after the coaching warning smash her raquette(2nd) and insult the umpire(3rd).
Get Grammarly 🤷🏿♀️
Can't always keep playing the feminist card. Understand the rules and respect the umpire. He was unbiased towards Serena and Djokovic
People talking about women vs men, maybe he's just a problem all around lmfao
That's how we roll in Portugal - we don't take shit from anybody.

Many people here from Serbia heard him cursing the umpire! You may not understand but he noticed that. When you can't win this is what happens!
It's one thing trying to fool an umpire and questioning his integrity and another thing to be half a second late on a serve lol
They're talking about the same violation AHAHAHAH! Since when it's ok to insult someone? Bias?
Serena was worse. Djokovic receive a warning a continues to play and he won the game. He don't call the umpire a thief . Serena was worse .
@@JoseSilva-cv2wf I'm talking about early on on the video. Thought the other person was confused about what the commentators said.
I hate some people on this planet who has been given some power and they like to think they are the king and can do whatever they want. Fire him
Yet Serena feels he is a thief and a sexist !
Carlos ramos the best.
This video leads with the announcer mentioning how many "soft" warnings Djokovic had received by this point. Serena got no "soft" warnings. The treatment is different with him.
“Wat ettytude men” god bless Novak 😂💪
🤣
Carlos has thin skin.
I am so sick and tired of the hypocrisy, the blatant blindness.People may not like how she said it but she was right in what she said. As for the entitlement, really ha ha .....the Williams sisters have worked beyond hard for what they have and yet they are still persecuted racially and sexually. Ramos was biased in his extreme actions towards Serena (he also did it to Venus). He hides behind the rules when he administers them unfairly!
DO YOU EVEN UNDERSTAND TENNIS
Please tell me this is a joke
Who will agree with me that Djokovic shouldn't have got that warning?
ahoj
Novak: I don't lose often, but when I do, I'm an angry baby 🍼
Cope🥇
Oh boohoo such a dramatic sport
This kind of umpires should be fired and never let arbitrate ,they make it personal with the players on purpose ,who experience kind of feelings on court wich they refuse to undersrand
This umpire has got a knack for being petty and holding grudges against players
Curtis Parlor because behavior like this has always been allowed I’ve never seen a an umpire call coaching and I’ve never seen an umpire take a game from somebody he was being petty and trying to steal the spotlight....guys curse at umpires every match and they just let it happen Serena called him out because he did steal a point from here in a grand slam final...you are supposed to let the players play...that umpire should have only given a warning for breaking the racket and that’s all...instead Ramos ruined the match for everyone I believe he should be disciplined
Now you're seeing one and you can't call him sexist (now he's "being petty and trying to steal the spotlight").
www.logicallyfallacious.com/tools/lp/Bo/LogicalFallacies/44/Appeal-to-Tradition
Pedro Couto he is petty and sexist is up for debate....thief isn’t gonna hurt anyone’s feelings let’s be honest...that umpire abuses his power to piss players off...he’s like an annoying person who keeps talking after they’ve lost an argument because they just must have the last word
Curtis Parlor I know the rules the point is umpires NEVER call coaching violations, and NEVER give entire games away...just because you have the opportunity to do something does not mean you should do it...that umpire decided the outcome of a championship match...the guy is petty...why are you even arguing when you obviously don’t watch tennis
Louis Ruffin, it doesn't matter if it hurts the feelings or if he's an annoying person.
That argument don't work with the police and judges, and should not work with umpires.
On one hand, that clearly proves that Selena accusations are unfounded and should make you think that accusing like that should be considered unjust, silly and mischievous. Yours accusations should be in that category.
On the other hand, the Grand Slam rules are public: www.itftennis.com/officiating/rulebooks/grand-slams.aspx
It seems that you are saying those rules should be ignored.
Sergeo Ramos best tennis referee ever , he accept no bullshit , those players don't even have good sports attitude all they care about is money .
This umpire sucks. Time to retire, and let great players play.
Bet you are here over Serena Williams. Well, Serena's coach accepted he was indeed coaching her which is against the rules so the umpire was correct and Serena just blew everything out of proportion, but she gets a pass because she's a 'great player's huh?
He's one the best, deal with it.
Yes
themush423, can you accuse him of being sexist or racist in that video? No? Good.
He is the worst umpire in history, he deserved to be fired.
Why?
Pedro Couto apparently for enforcing the rules
I'd like to see an explanation from Alpha Anderson.
Agree totally with Alpha Anderson. God it must be so annoying for the tennis federation, spending countless time interviewing and training umpires, paying them literally a hundredth of what tennis players get for losing a first round match, putting them up to umpire Grand Slam finals, and all they get is this snob who actually follows the rules like he was told to. When are we finally going to get umpires that just sit there and do nothing.
