      Hello, did you get your X1 directly from the dealership or order it online. If the latter, how long did it take? Thanks.

      @@lt2143 From what I've heard, the X1 is only manufactured in Germany. I ordered it through the San Diego dealership early April. Dealership told me I should get it 3rd week of May. Still waiting for it as of July, although now apparently it's on board of a ship that should arrive beginning of August. Not all dealerships will tell you the same thing about the delivery times. From what I can tell, it takes about 4 months. BMW provides a web page to track each step of the manufacturing process (mine was stuck in "At port" for several weeks!).

    I watched this video a couple of months ago (at that time I was choosing between the X1 and the Q3) and for some reason landed in my initial page again. I have been driving my X1 for the past 4 months and I just love it. It is a fun drive and excellent value for the money. I highly recommend getting the premium package and sport seats if you can :) . I am debating as well between X1 and Q3. I don't like the lack of buttons on the dash and refuse to take my eyes off the road when driving. Is the voice command reliable and does it control radio, climate, phone, etc.? I have been to a few dealers and no one is selling me on this when I complain about missing knobs. One sales guy suggested going with an X3 instead because it still has the dial.

    • @huhuhugl
      @huhuhugl 7 місяців тому +1

      @@marinasmith4772 I went for the X1 instead of the X3 because of the more Modern look - the x3 will probably go for the same road once the model is revamped. I don’t miss the knobs at all, I guess I got used to it in less than a week. The voice command is reliable. I am trying to think of a situation in which I missed having a physical button but I can’t. My partner has a pretty “classic” car and not even him misses the knobs when driving mine :)

      Not enough demand for the sdrives and the fact that bmw's actually used for off roading. From what I've put together I personally wouldn't recommend sdrive and off-roading. I would rather opt in for xdrive if its something you would be doing on the regular. sdrive will be okay here and there for minor off road situations but nothing aggressive.

    hi, such a great review, best I could find! My question: what's the function of the LOW GEAR? Is it just a nice feature, or does it come in place of the shifters (option) on the steering wheel? I find it a bit scaring to buy this car without the possibility of engine-breaking in longer downhills...

      @BeamerView  Рік тому +5

      I still have yet to test the L mode being that the X1 is very new. But, from what I can gather, it should stand for Low Gear, and what that may be good to use for is if you're going off roading. As you mentioned it should be great to use for engine breaking when you're going down the hill. Try it out!

    • @BeamerView

      Best way would be to check your feature sheet. It comes as a option so it may or may not have it. Usually if you get the Parking Assistance Plus package that comes with the 3D view there is a good chance it has it. If not, I would assume it does not have it.
      The drive recorder can only get triggered to save a video if the air bags go off. It can save 20 seconds prior and 20 after the accident. If you would prefer something that could pick up minor incidences I would opt for the 3rd party product.

      Some of the things that the efficient mode can do is things like dull down the gas response so that you're not using too much pure power. Some of the other things that you can do is make the vehicle run at a lower rpm so that they can maximize fuel efficiency say, for example, as you are going down a hill. And one of the last things that it can do is control the amount of airflow coming out of the climate control system.

I just got a 2023 X1 and I’m overwhelmed by all the features. A product specialist has worked with us for a couple of hours but there’s still so much to learn and know. Thanks for the sub! You cannot lock yourself out at least you should not be allowed to. I would highly recommend setting up the MY BMW App on your phone, if you ever do which the chances are very rare, you can use your App to unlock the car.
      You can say for example lock one of your two keys in the car by using the other to lock it in. You may also accidentally lock it in by having the walk away feature on in your MY BMW APP, its called passive entry, this is the most common way it happens.

I have wicked bad allergies and dont want to smell another car’s exhaust or grass in summer that is not sufficiently filtered through the charcoal filter. Any ideas on how to overide that. My dealership has been of no help. Thanks again for the great information!!

      Thanks for the Questions!
      1. Yes, Gesture control is available but not on the X1 at this time.
      2. Odometer is located by using the "Gear" Icon on the right side of the steering wheel in the video. You can cycle through different contents like you could with the BC button.
      3. It should also be in climate control settings. I didn't get a chance to check it, but I may have had to slide the screen over a bit.
      4. For all new BMWs you can actually drive away without releasing the electric brake. As soon as you begin to go, it'll disengage on its own.

    Love your video, will be so helpful navigating all the features. But have a weird question. I just bought a used, 2023 X1 and love it so much, except one thing - and I don't know why- but I am not a fan of the black grill. I have seen some with the chrome grill and it just looks better to me, more iconic look of BMW. The dealership said the black is more popular, but I don't care. I just like the look of the chrome one. I have read in some posts it can be done, but you are really a good expert and wondering if you know the answer. Thank you!

      Hey Jan,
      Thanks for your support to the channel by being a member.
      I have seen it done on other vehicles, as recent as the 2023 X3. So my assumption is Yes it can be done, you may just have to purchase the grill aftermarket maybe on websites such as ebay - www.google.com/search?q=bmw+x1+2023+grill&oq=bmw+x1+2023+grill&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIICAEQABgWGB4yCAgCEAAYFhgeMg0IAxAAGIYDGIAEGIoFMg0IBBAAGIYDGIAEGIoFMg0IBRAAGIYDGIAEGIoFMg0IBhAAGIYDGIAEGIoFMgYIBxBFGDzSAQgzNTM2ajBqN6gCALACAA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
      Just make sure you're buying it from a good/trusted seller.
      Some dealerships are able to do this but some don't so it may take some digging as to which ones are able to do it, if you're able to find none, you may have to look into a nearby auto body shop that could do it for you.
      Hope this helps!

If you do desire the maximum output in terms of driving in the snow, I would have it set to ECO mode so that when you GO it'll go in a nice smooth manner which will help with grip. hey man, luv your reviews. I feel like you could be the only one out there in a position to answer the two questions I got about the functioning of the vehicle. First, when the auto H function if depressed and the light's on indicating it's activated and when we switched the engine off, will the feature still be activated upon restarting the engine or do we need to push it again every time ? second, I currently own and drive a 420i fitted out with the automatic transmission ZF and I still got a lever like gear selector that I can switch to sport mode pulling it to the left. I like this function especially when I approached an intersection or roundabout when I know I will need to slow down and possibly stop my car to wait for an opportunity to enter traffic safely. Unfortunately I know that the start stop function will kick in and this will make me lose precious split second needed when moving off from stationary into traffic. Right now with my car, once the gearbox is in sport mode it deactivates the start stop function. Do you think it works the same way in the BMW X1 using the toggle ? THX

    • @BeamerView
      @BeamerView  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for reaching out! The last time I checked, Auto H does stay on and you should only have to press it once and never again.
      The Sport transmission mode works well in those situations but the only down side is that for the new X1 it works a bit differently. Some of the BMWs with the new shifter do have the Sport gearing mode but the X1 you'll see that instead of it being D/S it'll say D/L. L I believe stands for LOW GEAR so it may not work exactly like the Sport Gearing mode, but I want to say that using this mode as lower speeds may also work in conjunction with the auto/start stop feature being off.
      You could of course always go into sport mode, and I also advise setting up the auto start stop feature as a shortcut on the idrive 8 screen, you can see your shortcuts by swiping down from the top of the screen, this makes it easy to deactivate.

    3. Is there a way to connect my car to mobile internet?
    4. Is there a way or feature to update i8 software myself? Because time to time i am getting warning of "Limited Assisted Drive"

    1. Not possible to start car with efficient mode default !
    2. I would replace the volume buttons and channel shifter positions on steering wheel, i dont feel comfortable
    3. Voice Isolation is not very well

    • @BeamerView
      @BeamerView  Рік тому +1

      Hey Erol! Thanks for reaching out!
      1. Side mirror folding down cannot be adjusted, unfortunately. You can only deactivate the feature by moving your mirror selector switch to the other side.
      2. I have a helpful video that helps with the connection of apple car play. Usually, when updates are made on the iPhone, it tends to mess up the link a bit. Check out my "apple carplay fix" video. It'll give 3-4 valuable tips that help the connection more.
      3. Some BMWs are equipped with a mobile wifi hotspot. I would check on your window sticker to see if you have it. If you do, you can get a subscription from T Mobile to use the car's built-in wifWi-Fitspot, if it has it.
      4. When an update is ready, the vehicle will notify you when you start or end a trip. The limited assisted drive can turn on when there is snow/ice/debris on the sensors/cameras. I would get that checked out if it's happening in clean conditions.
      1. Correct. Due to laws and regulations, the vehicle has to start in the mode that gives the fuel economy on the window sticker, which happens to be personal/comfort mode. It's very dumb, in my opinion, but all BMWs after 2013 were set out to be this way.
      2. The volume knob is different from the rest of the BMWs. This and the steering wheel controls will take some time, but it'll get there! You also should be able to use voice commands for many car controls, like skipping tracks, tuning stations, and controlling temperature.
      3. Voice isolation will also take some getting used to. BMW only uses high-end acoustic glass on their premium models, such as the 7 series and X7s.
      4. Yes, it's normal for the smell of the spray to be smelled. I also usually notice it more when the vehicle is newer, but it's completely safe.
      5. I have had another customer bump into the issue where the walk-away/walk-up feature was not working correctly. You could go into the settings and search for COMFORT ACCESS, and try to turn off and back on the function to see if that helps it.
      Hope this helped you! Let me know if I can help in the future as well =)

      Glad this helped you! Yes it's easier to learn when going at your own pace that's for sure. It is completely fine to go from L to D and vice versa. However I would prefer to do this at lower speeds since you'll feel the engine braking harder at higher speeds.

    Helpful video. BMW seems to be still working out the kinks on this. A few problems I've noticed: 1) The car always starts in "Personal" drive mode, so if you want another mode, you must select it each time you begin driving - there is no way to permanently set another drive mode 2) Similarly, the auto stop-start feature cannot be permanently turned off, but must be reset every time driving is begun 3) If you page away from your google maps navigation in Apple Carplay to the BMW apps, when you return it does not go back google maps navigation, but just the Apple Carplay menu and you must reselect google maps...

    • @BeamerView
      @BeamerView  9 місяців тому +1

      1. Laws require the vehicle to start in the mode that was advertised on the window sticker, all BMWs have and will continue to start in the person mode unfortunately.
      2. Auto start stop is also being affected by the laws since emissions are becoming a major thing, many new BMWs don't have the option to turn it off at all. A good way to handle this if you press it often is to save it as a shortcut, watch one of my idrive 8 videos if you need to know how to do this.
      3. Another way to handle this is by pressing the MAP button near the controller, even though you go into the bmw system it should still go to the google maps if it was the last one that was active. I heard the auto stop/start feature always going back to its on setting has something to do with emission regulations and they have to meet them in its standard setting always so that's why it will goback and why you can't turn it off. You maybe able to with an OBD diagnosis port and you can add any other features from that too that you may not have on your vehicle but it will be installed anyway like heated or cooled seats or more driving modes

      You should be able to push in the volume knob or raise it up and that should have it resume. You could also try the volume buttons on the steering wheel too to see if that works.

    Hello, thanks for a great tutorial. I bought a 2 active tourer recently and saw that in some reviews they show “Assisted mode” in instrument cluster. Looks similar to what Tesla has . Car icon in the middle and you can see cars passing you in the real time (when on the highway). I got the driving assist plus, but this option is nowhere to be found. I saw it’s not listed even in the X1 in the video. Thank you.

      On the steering wheel press the GEAR BUTTON thats located in the multimedia button section. Once you press that, 2 or 3 small boxes should pop up on the instrument cluster. Then select the first one which in CONTENT, and assisted mode should be located in there.

      If there was a setting for it, it would be under the door/access menu, one where you may be able to check on or off. Another by-pass is by holding down the radio volume button for about 3 secs that will turn off the screens, music, and lights.

    • @BeamerView

      Thanks for reaching out and Congrats on the X1! There is not a way to turn off the seat belt warning sound unfortunately, BMW has this for safety reasons and we know how annoying those are. As for the sound when opening door, there is a way if you go into settings.
      Go to the DOORS AND WINDOWS setting, then go into LOCK/UNLOCK, inside there you should have the option to turn off the beeping sound when opening the door.

      Hey Inigo! I've been trying to see if I could find a new X1 to confirm this on, still no luck, but a great way to check to see if they have it or not would be to go into doors and access settings, located within tailgate, if the X1 has it, you would see an option now to turn off or on the feature.
