Friesians are draft horses in their nature, very calm and not in a hurry to get to anywhere. Yet these idle's ended up likes this-

When you're going backwards you still have to press W to keep it going I'm not sure why they made it like that but that's why it keeps stopping if you're only pressing S

I think it always was like this! I don't remember, when you needed to press S, so that it could keep going backwards.. Maybe because, I started playing the Star Stable not long time ago.. idk

The only thing I dislike about them is the sliding stop. I can live with the weird rear thing, but I *hate* how their back just snaps in half lol. It happens in the rear as well, but not quite as bad.
Yea, when i saw it for the first time, i had a feeling like they can't get their back up, it was kinds terrifying lol

Its literally me! At first, when I saw this horse, and read the not very happy comments about this Friesian, I don't really liked them.. But the more I see them, and the more I watch videos, that tells the good side about them, I started loving them! And I think, I gonna get one also because, they do funny faces and moves 😂

i was very underwhelmed they built up all this hype and i feel disappointed like i really want to love the friesians but i cant. im really sad sso didnt do as good of a job as they did with the other really good breeds. like the jwh. i wish sso would put the effort they used when making the jwh into every horse. they showed us they can do it why not do it every time? it just makes sense
I agree. Aren't they supposed to be quote on quote flawless friesians? There are way too many things wrong with them. The mane and tail gets a big oof from me, the rear is weird, the animation after the slide stop is the weirdest thing I've ever seen in the game and overall, they look unfinished. I really like the model and would buy one, but only if they redo the animations.
They look like a mix of Gen 1 and Gen 2 trying to look like a Gen 3.
They aren't so bad! People complain about SSO and they dont complain about a horse game on mobile with 1.2 stars-

The jump of the Friesian is so funny! It raises the frontlegs so high like an actual dressage horse who jumpes for the first time XD like "OH MY GOD! THERE IS AN OBSTACLE IN THE WAY! I HAVE TO JUMP! BUT I CAN'T TOUCH IT!" horse flies 1 meter higher over the Cavaletti then it had to 😂

In my opinion the idle animations make em look like mechanical dogs and the mane looks like three separate noodles. Just my opinion tho 😂 I do really like the Walk and Canter a lot

The Andy’s rear is better than the sliding stop
When it comes to the back legs and why they are weird - this is an issue with improper rigging and skinning. I was kind of surprised, because this is what my models looked like when I was learning how to properly rig animals..

i really really dislike this horse. one of the main reasons are the gaits and idle animations, but also the hair. it's a shame as they did such an amazing job on the jorvik wilds but with this horse the main is split into 3 blocky parts. i wish they update the mane + tail soon and the gaits. the horses themselves are too cartoony for me - that's just personal taste, though. i do like the coats but that's honestly the only thing i like about this new horse. i'm debating whether or not to buy it on my alt, however, as maybe i'll grow to like it.
😂 I find them cute and very unique, I love them, ofc there are some things they need to work on, like the rear and the hard stop, but I find it cute they kinda jump up on the hard stop but their back... 👁👄👁 that I am concerned about

Because going backwards: You have to press W when the horse wants to stop. Then it doesn’t stop.
i love them! all the different idle animations they put into this horse is awesome! yes i agree the smile is creepy sometimes. but please don't forget that this is a game and not real life!
tbh it's my favourite horse in game .-. I really love most of animations excluding the stop and rear. I think the most beautiful gait is slow gallop because it is simillar to the older ones.

I appreciate that sso took time and effort to add all of the idle animations, but dressage horses are trained to stay still and calm. Idk just my opinion.

I feel like my horse has a personality, like it's a goofy horse who can't stop moving. All the other horses just kind of sit still and don't really do anything until you ask it to.
i agree with you but kinda wish they did this for one of the sporty breeds, because i think alot of people want a "calmer" idle horse for dressage
When backing up, use W instead of S. You can back up forever if you do

I think the front-leg kick after the sliding stop is meant to be a reference to an attacking kick, bc these horses were used as battle horses irl, they just could not remake the movement well xD
Okay, the thing with going backwards, I needed to figure that out too:
When going backwards, spamming S doesn't push the horse to keep being in that gait. S is usually for going slower or stopping completely and it generally has no other function than that, even when going backwards. So if you want your horse to keep going backwards, you need to press W, when it's getting exhausted (snorting, whatever) and it will keep going backwards. If you push W too early or too late, it'll stop.

I recently bought the gen3 dark bay Friesian model (Everwind) and I love her. One thing I would change is the mane when galloping. The mane flows into your character's leg and looks really weird. Also, I agree with updating the character. They don't really seem quite right; you do get used to them but I think they're in need of an update. But my opinion on the gen3 Friesians is that they're a really good model and the Star Stable Team made a realistic looking horse.

The extended canter is my favourite, because it's probably the most realistic, also to continue backing up you need to press w/up arrow when the thing flashes
Pretty sure the fast gallop is just the gen 1 gallop or VERY similar cuz the legs both move at the same time, and just honestly looks so close and if not even the gen 1 gallop 😬👍
I feel that everyone dislikes the slow gallop - although it’s my absolute favourite and makes buying the friesian worth it. My favourite thing about in real life friesians is that beautiful, exaggerated and powerful gallop with the powerful hind. To me - this gait is one of the most accurate with those front legs also showing that gorgeous movement of the traditional friesian. Obviously each to their own, but just wondering if anyone else agrees!
The only thing I would change is the canter piroutte I wish the camera moved with the player, and also the back legs when the horses gallops I'd change that too.

I actually love 'em, bought one and did some rp and races and just, I just can't stop looking at it lol, it's a very funny horse because of it's expressions, so crazy and just accepted the gallop, rear and hard stop. I don't really mind those but it would be nice if they updated them in a future.
it's kind of like having an old gen horse. they look pretty weird but you love how fun they are.

i'd save them up for another horse instead. (it's ok to like them but it's good to get a practical horse).
A few things after seeing them around- the models look nice. The back legs in the gallop need to be edited so they don’t hit the ground at the same time. Horses don’t stretch like that unless they’re working with a chiropractor. The rear needs a little more editing. Other than that, I think they have a lot of good realistic qualities. (Also just me being picky but canter pirouettes aren’t supposed to be that choppy)
I love the gallop on them.
The mane when its floating and the legs I really wanna do dressage so I think im buying the black one with the white socks
If they would fix the hard stop and maybe tune to gallop just a little it wouldn’t be such a big deal- I don’t like the standing still animations.. like the smile or little thing when it opens its mouth or the dance. I think they would’ve been fine with just the stretch.
6 months later, I actually love these horses, I mean I don't love the mane or the stop, but I do really like everything else
To prevent the horse from stopping when backing up, hit w not s... which is weird but that works
the Friesians are perfect in my opinion and I’m in love with them!!! They are one of my favorite horses in sso. I am waiting for all the colors to come out and then I’m buying one! Super exsited to get my hands on the beauties! except for the rear

The "secret" to making the horse keep backing up is to press w, not s as it's in that gait. x
actually, when you go backwards, and the gait icon starts flashing red, you need to press W to keep the horse going (yes, for some reason, it's not S, but this is just how it is i guess)
if you wanna keep walking backward you press s one time but as soon as the little icon at the bottom starts flashing red you press w not s :D just a tip if you wanna walk back longer
to keep them going back you have to press s like you normally would and then when it starts blinking press w and it will keep going back :)
Pro tip: when going backwards, to keep going backwards you actually have to wait until the horse makes its complaining "I'm going to stop or slow down" sound with the flashing icon and then you actually hit FORWARD and you will keep going backwards lol
If they wanted to add Garnok’s tentacles in the game they could have just called them that, not codename them as Friesians!

the fast canter/slow gallop is my favourite gait and im so concerned they're gonna change it because people dont seem to like it - it looks exactly like an extended canter in high end dressage
I actually like the horse and I think they done a pretty good job! You just can't compare Star Stable to Red Dead 2 which I think most people do whenever they complain about the animations etc. :) The three things I really dislike is that the horse moves way too much in the idle pose, it looks like it's having a seizure. And then the petting animation, the quick stop.
fun fact you can use the Jorvik Friesian bridles on a Gotland pony too
I’m not sure if anybody noticed but in one of the idle animations the tail goes through the horses back legs :p

I really don’t understand why people are complaining about these horses at least ur getting them and u know sso works hard on these and remember this game isn’t supposed to be realistic as much
the teeth, is just embarrassing. I'm from friesland and the old friesians didn't look like the real ones at all. So I was expecting a lot from this one, but they are awful and I hate that it cant just stand still 😩

What happened between the jorvik wild horse and friesian... It scares me lol also.... Who else misses the first trakehner gallop... Still think that was sso's best gallop. It flowed so well.

I sometimes think SSO clashes horses new and old and their gaits to make new horses... I was once doing the quest to talk to the elders in Fir-freakin grove and they all looked the same like did SSO just duplicate them???

I love the new frezzy but its face i feel they could do a lot better with the face and i will buy it because i like it.
Since I’m not gonna use my friesian for dressage I don’t really care about its gaits. I actually really like the exaggerated gaits and animations on it tbh

Ive noticed a spoiler for the characters its not a massive one but when you stay still on the horse she sometimes brushes her self off.
No, it's just a glitch, its an idle animation for when your off the horse and it glitched.

And I'm personally ok with the frisians I just don't like the idle animations. Not all of them at least. I think the stretch, the hopping and the nod are cute. Everything else is a bit too much. Still think the eyes should be a little bit smaller and yeah the stop is... Idk... Something xD

I think what I dislike the most is how the head is held even while full sprinting. Throughout the gaites it doesn't change position much at all and it looks very - ? damaged.
