My own take is that marriage is not for everybody. You can not eat your cake and have it. If you are not ready to be vulnerable and share 100% of yourself with your partner, just go and do surrogacy or go to a sperm bank and have the kids that you want. It seems to me that people with this kind of mindset marry just to have kids and have someone to nurture them and their kids, not for companionship. This is why we need to understand and accept why people want to marry. My comment is all over the place but my main point today is that it is okay not to marry someone and put them in everlasting pain by your actions knowing fully well you do not want to do this life with that person. This goes for both men & women. I am tired of all these stereotypes about marriage. Just stay single and enjoy your life.
Also, Aunty B, you made a very good point about the fact that most Nigerian women that fight for property build that investment with their husband. Therefore, it makes absolute sense for them to ask for their share. As a married couple, you do not own your properties 100% by yourself. Your partner contributed either before or after you married him/her no matter how little, and that contribution needs to be recognized and accounted for during divorce, whether you like it or not.

Madam,l think the man did well in planning ahead and protecting his peace. That is why we also have prenuptial agreements. Are you insinuating that, there shouldn't be such agreements before marriage at all, since by doing so means the parties are already planning or preparing for failure? Humans do change and women have proven to be that erratic over and over again.
The records are there to show that divorce rates are high and it would be naive and foolhardy for any self-respectful and financially stable man to lose focus before marriage and let an ex-wife claim everything he has worked for.
I can suggest that embassies begin to add prenuptial forms together with application forms for family/spousal reunion visas, so no one would turn around later and start laying claims to assets they never worked for in the first place.

My take is that women are usually arrogant when they are financially independent…. The Bible says it’s the RARE woman who is industrious and kind and respectful to their family

@ kindly read proverbs 31 vs 10. In respect to the theme of discussion, The capable wife is rare. Also let’s face it, when a man is supported by his wife , there is sure to be anger, arrogance and humiliation. …High statistics on that

That man thought he ate with that comment about his ex. He must have lied to the woman that he bought that house and she must have been contributing to the upkeep of the house. That's such a one sided comment. Also, for him to call his ex wife 'flawed' like he's a saint, is diabolical. It takes 2 to tango.

Imagine that. He lived in the UK and planned not to own real estate?? Not a good man in the first place. Yes, we are what we PROJECT!! The value of real estate in the abroad is more valuable. Most women(black) who emigrated from the Caribbean, Africa to CANADA, USA, UK, IRELAND, ETC. purchase properties, invest where they live! Well said Lady B. Many brothers need to see and hear this.

All this talk about manifesting stuff is all lies. How come women don't manifest their own and depend on taking from him when the marriage end. A lot of marriages end in divorce so every man MUST protect themselves. Open an LLC and buy all major property through the LLC. Do this before you marry. When she finally decides to leave there's nothing to take because you own nothing, the LLC does. Protect yourself Brothers.
