For a really really long time I was so overly stressed about being "right", how I shouldn't "Cheat", if I wanted to do an environment it would have to take meticulous planning. Of course I couldn't do much. Nowadays I'm much more free, and I'm far more interested in just getting to where I want to be, rather than worrying how I got there. I wish someone had told me years ago, haha
I believe that before you start "cheating" you should learn how to create it without "cheating", and after this you are free to do whatever you want to speedup your work process.
so glad i stumbled upon your channel, how do you only have 263 subscribers? this is some wayyy above average content, and the art itself is jawdropping! thanks for sharing this knowledge, its really useful!
Although the giant rock does sit at the centre point of the composition your eyes will always follow the steps to where the character stands .... that's where the interest lays and it just works. I absolutely luv it ... great work!
Hands down this gotta be one of the best advice videos I've seen about concept art in a long long time, everything about it's awesome. The way you laid down your steps it's super clear and easy to learn, thank you so much I really hope you can start making some new content this oncoming year!! Pls do, love from México.
i feel like every time i try and figure out how concept artists make things look so real with so much ease, this video helps me understand so much better lol
this is the kinda art videos i love. its both a learning video but its honest and has a personal touch making it easy to sit and watch. its sitting next to an arts and watching them point out what the love and struggled on making the piece. its not just here are brushes and describing the brush strokes!
I'm an oil/acrylic painter but found your video very cool, makes me want to consider using a sponge for texturing. I really like the color gamut you stayed in for this piece, awesome work.
Super informative in a short amount of time, if you know a little about painting and photoshop already, theres a lot to take away from this that helped me a lot, thank you!
Can I start by saying I love your videos? You have a clear understanding of art and the industry. I'm a new artist and hope to work in the game industry one day. I was hoping that maybe if you had the time you could one day make a video about how to paint and add texture to one's artwork. I ask this because this is kind of the problem I have with my artwork.
Not being into this kind of art but being into games the one thing I can say is that one form draws from the other. In the most ideal circumstances neither is really drawing from the limitations of the other but trying to merge.
Been having lower and lower drive to paint cuase i was being stuck with vharacters and anatomy and you made me feel the rush and the passion to change my ways and find a new purpose while drawing
Thank you for the video! I loved the anecdote about the figure instructor at the end. That's a good way to put it and I will use that quote "working with something", often, I'm sure. Beautiful painting- I learned a lot from your process and appreciate your vulnerability about the stages.
This is such a cool video, I hope you'll be doing more like this in the future! Despite some tiny flaws in the piece, I absolutely love how it turned out! I adore the atmosphere and colour, it's really, really nice looking!
Just gotta say that Toy Story 3 and Disney Infinity were some of my favorite games and the art style looked amazing to me back then, especially on more limited hardware. Thanks for this guide
I love videos like this, they are super entertaining but for some reason they make me realize and think that i wont ever be able to achieve this level of skill, pretty sad but i cant really help it. Though this is an amazing piece.
Amaaaaaazing!!! Such a talented and inspiring artist! Obviously you had a reason for putting in all the details, but for me, the more basic, the more amazing your art! I'll definitely learn from you!! Keep it coming! Thanks 🙏
Such a great video really explains the workings and details of the composition definitely helps to understand values of shapes within the composition more
I'm at a point in my journey as an artist to discovering how people use photo textures for their art. I get it it really looks cool but how much of it is skill compared to just copy and pasting, I need to learn more about this method to really understand it.
Thanks a lot for the Video. Helped me a lot to try and figure out my own workflow. I was very informative and edited. Much thanks for your time and Would love to see some more stuff.
I watched this video for the 5th time now because its so inspiring to me and was able to learn so much! Thanks for that 👋 Hope to see another video like this.
I’m not even a concept artist, but this is Incredibly interesting
You notice how there are several comments saying "incredibly interesting"?
I am a frustrated concept artist, and this is incredibly well made by a very skilled man

don't cheat bro
You kind of misunderstood my comment. I mean using things like images, textures and 3D to get to where you want.

I totally understand what you mean and agree.

"Just put a mark down" loved that and the journey from start to finish on this piece.

This was an interesting overview. It's so fun fiddling with how the tools/process effect the outcome and it's cool to hear about your exploration.

you of course, notice the ABSENCE OF CONCEPT
This is somehow cleaner (well blended) up close than some concept art pieces I've seen especially on youtube.
I'm an oil/acrylic painter but found your video very cool, makes me want to consider using a sponge for texturing. I really like the color gamut you stayed in for this piece, awesome work.
