I was 11 months old when my Great Grandmother ( " Nana " to us ) took us in at the age of 71 years old and raised my sister and I until my dad ( he owned a fish and chip shop/milk bar/cafe) remarried when I was 5 and my sister was seven.
There were 12 of us living in the house ( including aunts, uncles and cousins ) and we grew up with an actual out house with one non flushable toilet. The toilet cans were collected and a new can put in its place on a regular basis.
Our home town on the New South Wales ( Australia ) South Coast is a coastal town and a tourist draw card all year round so my dad was always at work but each time I go back for what ever reason, I go to my Nana's house ( now a confectionary shop ) just to knock on the Entry door with the door knocker. The last time my sister ( now living in New Zealand ) and I gathered was for my father's funeral and half a dozen of us visited my Nana's house and all of us took turns knocking on the door knocker and the lady in the shop stood there quite stunned until we explained our family ritual. It turned out that we all went to school with each other.
Sadly, now that my dad has gone ( my Nana died when I was 12 ) the last knock on that door knocker felt like my last but time will tell and those memories will live on forever.😂😂
I'm also on the coast ( Illawarra ) . We were immigrants from the U.K. I was 5. We had those stinky toilet cans, too. I hated that outhouse. It was full of spiders and bugs. I was afraid of the dark, so I made my brother run around the outside and then check inside . He'd wait just outside the door for me. It was such a relief when we got an indoor toilet.

I grew up in a house with 7 of us kids. We had a girl’s room and a boy’s room, and my Mom had her room that was also her sewing room. Like Jennifer, my Mom kept an orderly home - so clean one could eat off her floors (but we didn’t, lol). One bathroom. We learned to share, and learned about boundaries. We learned how to give and hold space for each other. We had laughing fits at night sometimes. It taught us a lot about consideration for others. It had its annoyances and frustrations, but I feel like I got more out of that experience than I didn’t get. Another bathroom for Jennifer - such a gift!

We grew up with 6 kids and parents in about the same situation,we made it work. Love family and all that you do for each other 💞💞💞. Family is everything 🙏. Love you all so much 💓
We had 5 kids, parents, and my mother babysat 10+ kids, 5 days a week. All that with one bathroom and before disposable diapers! Things got really challenging when we all got the flu at the same time! Those were not fun times. 🤢

Jennifer should get a spray bidet hose for the downstairs toilet. They really help reduce toilet paper usage which will help with clogging up the maceration station.

I do agree with the bidet they can be pricey depending on your budget I’ve seen bidets that attach to the just a spray mount to the seat for between $60-$200 in the long run , you save toilet paper and issues with the toilet paper, and save a tree! Great job, Trent and Allie because having that extra bathroom will be awesome! Allie, you’re one lucky girl to have Trent! All the best to your family it’s fun watching you guys .

We were 7 people growing up! We had one bathroom. My father came up,with the idea of dividing the bathing area and toilet. This is a European model. We were then able to use the bathing area and toilet at the same time. We referred to it as the “shit pump💩”lol
We had 9 at one point with one toilet - and it was on the second floor. Even Grandma had to go upstairs.

Hey Trent, just a suggestion, glue the glue bottle onto transportable piece of cardboard or thin piece of wood that has a wider (8"x8") platform so it's harder for it to tip... you'all got a heart of gold, taking care of your family, neighbor & friends before your needs❤ Keep it happening & remain being humble, martial arts teaches that, as I'm sure you know....love the vlogs for years now....👍💪🤠

We had a cat that tore the cat equivalent of an ACL and were quoted close to 5 grand. We kept the cat sequestered to a small room and within weeks it was fully healed. The cat lived many more years and didn't even limp. Cats are tough!
I can easily relate to what Jennifer and her family are going through. I grew up in a family of 6 children, in a house with 1 bathroom! When the youngest started school, Dad decided a second bathroom was a necessity! An addition was built to give our mother a sewing space, a larger laundry area, and then the original laundry room was converted into a bathroom. 2 toilets! What a luxury! Good for you, Trent and team, for giving this family this much needed room!

Regarding the spray foam, if you buy a face shield like doctors and nurses use, you could put it on your face and have it out at a 90° angle. The spray foam would land on it and not on your face.

We have 2 macerators in our house the one thing I noticed with your instalment was there was no none return valve section unless it was hidden, I hate ours I wish we didn't need them, but here in rural France there is only certain certain places for a fosse septic ours happens to be a long way from the house so needs must, your are certainly a loving family and I love watching your antics xx

Trent , I have a macerating toilet on the ground floor of my house , In the UK , we call them ' Saniflow ' , they are excellent , mine does for a wash basin too , two inlets , they are so powerful , they can move waste and water over 20 feet vertically if necessary , I have had mine for 4 years so far with no issues whatsoever
The Saniflow brand is available in the US too. I'm getting ready to put one in my basement so it was good to see Trent install one. Does yours make about the same amount of noise as the one in the video? I'm hoping mine won't be quite so loud as someone will be sleeping in the next room.

Unfortunately, my youngest brother use to help me, but, I lost him over 6 years ago. I have an older brother here. But, he cusses & fusses about everything & unfortunately has never matured at 70. Continue to show the LOVE to one another.
I can relate all around. I think mines 64 or so and you never know if u go for help, if he'll explode or just be annoyed. My oldest brother just don't and is a state away but my brother who"a gone would ALWAYS help. Miss him

Please fully seal that concrete floor Including a solid barrier or there will be mildew for sure with the added moisture. If Agaga Doesn't already have it, maybe think about additional ventilation in the basement because you have all those close clothes racks.

make sure no women products go into that toilet. It will bind up the cutter and won't work. We have two off these and have gone through 3 new macerators at $400 a pop to replace .
At there age I'm 1000% sure they know not to put tampons and pads in the toilet...

Go to Good Will and get white sheets. Wash with baked soda (to get baking soda in sheets to help fir retared sheets) do not rinse, whirll dry. Whill wet staple on basement ceiling. Colors sheets could be stapled on walls, whill waiting for sheetrock.
1 bathroom for a big family, that takes me back, we didn't get a second bathroom until most of my siblings got married and moved out, but we had 11 at our peak.
No walls around that bathroom? No privacy! Guess, they will be glad to have another bathroom!❤

We added a macerating toilet in our 40 year old basement this year, best thing ever! We removed the "throne" the toilet and sink use to sit on, put in a new shower that sits on the floor and sink that flows through the toilet, BEST thing ever! You are the best for helping them, it's a great solution!
Call it what it is - poop grinder! I suggest Scott's TP for the basement toilet to avoid issues. We had to switch to it for all 3 levels. Great video and get Leo bedtime snacks. Also thank you Cody for the 'blip' of Trent's Garage!

The plastic on the interior of the outside walls is a mistake.
If you already have Zip sheathing on the exterior of the wall cavity, adding plastic to the interior of the same wall cavity will capture the air/water within the cavity. You'll get mold and rot in the wall cavity.

The insolation people in the shipyards I worked in put Vaseline all over ant exposed parts of their bodies so when they went home al they had to do was take a hot shower and all the itchy stuff washed off without ever bothering them

Yeah. My insulation guy slipped with the spray foam gun and oversprayed my shower stall. NOTHING I used touched it. It took almost a year but they finally got back and used some very strong cleaner to remove it! Luckily, skin sheds but no fun scrubbing it off. I grew up in a house with one bathroom and six kids. Girls room, boys room (3 each) It does teach sharing, sort of! We just rebuilt a house after our farmhouse burned-about 900 sq ft-there was NO WAY I was gonna do ONE commode. The second one is tiny but mighty!

Order a product called “barrier cream”. You put it on your face and hands to prevent things such as spray foam, even fiberglass from getting stuck to your skin. It will also be good to have in your Trent’s garage supplies.

Trent, try using Neutrogena make up remover wipes. I once used one to finally remove 20 year old Sharpie marker on my antique dresser, compliments of my children when they were little, and it removed the Sharpie without marring the finish. I now use them to clean things, and skin, when other means don’t work

They had the barn gutters and outhouses or enamel chamber pots that got emptied in the morning.

So thoughtful to install a bathroom for Jennifer and kids. I can't imagine a household of 7 all using one bathroom, especially everyone getting ready in the morning. They will all appreciate it. I lost my baby 5 days ago and had to get 1 of my fallopian tube taken away only one. My 2ed baby been taken away from me now I have two baby’s in heaven.
