Tie it if your going to make a fancy showpiece, as whole. don't tie it just boil , it's keeps it's shape, to preserve, then either chop up for stir fry and/or also slice into fillet and fry with various foods. Cheers.
It's cheap because of all the water that's pumped into it. It's fine for week to week meals, but If you're entertaining guests, get it from the butcher. It's well worth it.
Potentially a great gammon tutorial - but it is far too long. No need to spend so much time on the tying if the joint. All your infi=ormation could have been given in a third of the time.
