Thank you so much for making this video, with both the closed captioning and very helpful instructions! Having the Tools Pane open was driving me batty!
Sure, happy to help. And you're the first to specifically mention the captions... very boring task but I kept doing it - glad to hear it's appreciated!
Quick, to the point, and very helpful. Thanks a lot! That toolbar was really annoying since i can’t use anything there without a paid subscription anyway.
Thanks a lot for this invaluable help. Now, how about the NAVIGATION PANE? How do I permanently hide that? It's still driving me nuts, and there isn't a "Remember current state of Navigation Pane" button.
I Love your video, however, for some reason Adobe Reader won't let me check the box next to "Allow the documents to hide the menu bar, roolbars, and window controls" I noticed on your utube it is checked. Is there a way to get that to work on my PDF Files?
Hi from Italy! thanks a lot for this video! could you do also a video on how to avoid the pop up of the "black bar" (save, arrow up,down, etc.) which everytime appears on the page when scrolling it. so disturbing from concentration in reading! thanks; ;)
Hi! Which version are you using? When it's open, click Help -> About Acrobat Reader, and then you'll see a Version near the top. Let me know and I'll see if I can find a solution.
Thanks so much, I close that toolbar a couple times per day... Driving me nuts and figure out how to default it closed... And I'm close enough to walk... Two nuts that is :-)
that is better, but when I read pdf file, I like to click the scroll bar, drag down to the part I want. I often misclick because I used to move mouse to right most and start to drag, it is common in other software, but should do very carefully in adobe reader...
At long LAST! Someone tells us HOW to do it. A visit to Adobe is like a visit to the Brexit committee. Lots of questions. Zero frikkin answers. Adobe? If someone asks you how to do something can you PLEASE answer the frikkin question. And as for all the people that said “You go to preferences documents and click on the box” or something like it. You can’t. It doesn’t solve the problem. If you are writing instructions on how to do something can you PLEASE check your instructions before you actually post on any forum and make sure that you can actually do what you say you can do - don’t just lift it out of your head and expect people to have the ability to interpret your wrong answers into right ones. Adobe get your act together. This product is absolute rubbish and has been since the 80s. I e been using Adobe since then and MOST even simple issues have never been looked at let alone resolved. Case in point: Printing booklets that rotates pages without being asked to!!!!!!! Will someone PLEASE invent an alternative and take this useless, greedy, poorly supported corporation out.

@@agent363 No, not yet, but it looks that when you hide it once in a certain document, it won't appear again ON THAT DOCUMENT. It will be coming out on new documents, but I guess there is no other way.
I love how "Pane" and "Pain" are pronnounced the same. Its very representative on this case
BY GOD, I HAVE been dealing with this for a yr now, thanks.
omg where have you been ? thank you so much for coming to my aid, thank you !!!!!!!!!
Thanks mate. Can't believe I clicked away the tools pane for years as being too lazy to find a tutorial in 20 seconds :-D

Any updates to this? It's not working for me and I wondered if they changed it since your video was posted?
Hm, it might have. I'll take a look today and will plan for another video if it changed.
Confirmed, on the latest version of Adobe Reader it works the same way, you can still find the setting. Which version are you running?

Unfortunately, the little arrow on the side does not exist in my Adobe Reader, so I can NEVER collapse it in the first place. Any ideas?

Btw, how do you close the bookmarks permanently ?
How can I make the Adobe reader remember the zoom percentage?????
Thanks. it was an extremely annoying "feature".
Can we turn the side tool pane off when creating a bonus pdf or does each person control the pane? I hate that thing. HELP
Donna Harris Unfortunately, I think it's a client-side thing - I don't think you can disable the tools pane when creating a pdf.
thank you Matt
you are the man........bravo 💎💎💎
Happy to help
Thank you Matt
Thanks. Quick and easy.
Hey it worked, thanks bro
Thanks. Very clear.
Guys idk if this is simply because of the new feature, but now they removed the OK button. But don't worry all you have to do is to just press enter

Two minute video on how to CLICK THE FUCKING ARROW KEY. thanks
That'll hide it temporarily only (unless something changed in a new version)
not present that checkbox on adobe reader pro
