I think your makeup looks amazing, funny you said you didn’t like the colors I think they all look really good. I was hesitant to buy that shade of eye shadow but because I also have blue eyes and think it looks so good on you I’m going to try it. I was also hesitant about the coconut shade as a blush but love that on you as well. Thanks for the review.:)
I had the same problem with the brow product and my brows are black! It just deposited too much pigment no matter what I did. I will say I like the look of the mascara (although I agree that the brush is too big) and I have the apricot shade in the cheek product and it’s a fave for me, although I don’t generally wear a lot of foundation AND I didn’t do a wear test! I really liked this review and I appreciate your more critical look at makeup!

I swear, watch the video and look at yourself like you are a stranger and see what you think! I always like it when I am surprised by a color or product that I would not ordinarily wear! Great video. I’m also a fan of the mission and ethics behind the company, and I’m intrigued enough that I’ll keep following their evolution closely. I have the blush in Apple and really like it. I haven’t had a problem with it picking up my base products, but I also struggle with the squeezy tube dispenser. I also have one of their lipsticks and one of their liquid eyeshadows, and I like them but don’t love them. There are so many “love”-worthy products out there these days that I rarely reach for my “like” products anymore. The bar is high, and I hope GenSee reaches it with future launches because I really love the idea of supporting them!
Exactly, I own SO many products that are perfect 10/10’s, I’ll never reach for a product that isn’t perfect. But I admire Gensee as a brand and hope their formulas improve!
Bummed because I ordered the Gen See lipstick and it arrived broken out of the container today - BUT just wanted to say the eyeshadow and lipstick look gorgeous on you!
I feel like you would loveeee the Shi lipstick. That’s my favorite berry ever. I also love Naomi which I actually think is one of the most nuanced red lipsticks I own. I didn’t love any of the other shades! I also love their matte brown eye shadow but those were the only standouts to me.
Ahhhhh ok I really liked the lipstick formula so maybe I’ll buy those shades with the matte eyeshadow! That way I at least have some products I like from the brand because I love their mission and values

I too appreciate the sustainability part of “clean” beauty instead of pseudo scientific fear mongering. I hate that a whole long list of ingredients have been lumped together as equally bad, when different ingredients have different pros/cons. For example essential oils use SO much of a plant to get so little-mass produced inexpensive essential oils just can’t be that sustainable but they are certainly “natural.” I’ve been interested in what I call “eco” beauty for years, especially skincare products made from sustainably produced ingredients from places like Laurel Skin. Having dug in to the research on cosmetic ingredient safety, I really appreciate Gen See’s call out of no pthlalates because scientific consensus does seem to be growing that they can act as hormone disrupters. I’m not as concerned about parabens-I’m a bit concerned about their bio persistence but “clean” beauty in hard to recycle plastic bothers me much more than, say, Lush’s paraben-preserved products in sustainable packaging. My thoughts on Kosas are complicated. I don’t mind that they use milder preservatives for people who really care about that, but something with such a short shelf life just doesn’t belong at Sephora unless there is a lot of consumer education about how they are getting a different kind of product than you expect from Sephora. Originally “clean” beauty focused on waterless products like the original RMS pot concealer, which allowed them to avoid preservatives without risking mold so quickly. The problem imho came when they tried to create products that absolutely mimic the experience of standard beauty without acknowledging everything requires trade offs. Sorry for the long comment, I just think about this stuff all the time.
I LOVE your comment, and I totally agree. We've got to find a middle ground with clean beauty. I am totally fine with parabens - in fact, I want preservatives in my products because I'm sick of buying from kosas, tower 28, etc and having my products expire and go rancid quickly. Mold isn't clean! There has to be a middle ground. But when it comes to Gensee, I really admire their commitment to ethical beauty in all aspects of the product and process. That's dope.
@@StateofKait the funny thing is kosas doesn’t need to use parabens-the vast majority of products at Sephora are parabens free these days, they just use Phenoxyethanol (considered “clean” by many though maybe? a potential irritant for some people). I’m willing to give the brand slack for a the fact that the concealer does seem to last for its stated 6 month shelf life… I’m just not sure it’s realistic to expect the average modern consumer to read that fine print. And the vast majority of people would, like you, choose more preservatives for a longer lasting product. While I’m on my soap box I thought of one more thing. As annoying as many “clean” beauty brands are, I credit that movement with the fact that it’s so much easier for me to find soaps and shampoos free of sulfates-not that SLS is “toxic” it’s just an irritating surfactant compared to better options these days. I also love the increased market for reef safe and 100% mineral sunscreen! Just leave my dimethicone alone lol
I bought a saie blush from Sephora and it expired before the 6 months. I put it on then noticed a weird smell, then I noticed that the rotten smell was coming from the blush. The next day I had a rash on my cheek. I haven’t had the same issue with Kosas, but honestly I’m pretty tired of the short shelf life of so many clean brands.
I think the makeup and the color look great on you! Sure, maybe the liquid texture of the makeup is not for everyone. You just have to be more careful when squeezing it out. But I definitely see some positive in this brand. My order will be arriving soon and I’m so excited about it!

That’s really interesting, when you explained your experience with the brow product I could clearly see why exactly it wasn’t the best for you (or would not be the best for me- I have quite sparse eyebrows). However, another reviewer that I love and trust actually liked arch support a lot - she just had darker haircolor. I think it’s important to consider how complimentary colours or formulas are to our appearance or skin type, rather than the reviewer that we’re watching 🤭 that’s easy to be influenced like that
Do you use 100% pure? They are my favorite! I've been using them for years, they last a while, their lipsticks are my all time favorite, have incredible colors and are only pigmented by fruits and vegetables. They last too, at least a year.
Yeah the eyeshadow looks pretty, but I agree it looks a little odd on your cool-toned skin. I think it would look really flattering on someone with medium-olive skin, though! Great review per usual😙😙

Never heard of the brand before. The gel blushes seems interesting, that Coconut shade looks scary on the back of your hand but then blended out really pretty, kinda reminds me of Benefit’s Terra. I think ima give it a shot lol. I feel like this kinda texture works best with a beauty sponge.

One thing that I read is that most packaging that is tube need some room in case the product inside exosnds during shipping (as well as user’s travels). Hopefully they left enough room otherwise won’t be fun to open your makeup bag after a long flight.

I came to your channel by coincidence when looking for a review about Saie Slip Tint ,and since then I follow your channel faithfully (both of them), for several reasons, but especially for the objectivity with which you analyze in detail each product from all multiple points of view that a buyer, without being an expert in makeup, would take into account. I have bought many of the products you have mentioned and most of them have been a success, unfortunately many others like fitglow are not sold in Spain, so well life is like that. Today I am writing to ask you something very specific: it would be a great help if you could show in a video the best way to find the ideal shade of foundation. I am also a blonde with fairly fair skin, maybe with a similar tone to yours or a bit lighter, and still I have a hard time knowing what my skin tone is and find the foundation option that fits, there are too many options (warm, cool, neutral, olive, rossy neutral ...) honestly it's a chaos and I think that probably this cal also be a doubt for other women. What to consider when choosing a foundation shade? what were yoru first experiences? maybe a video with a sample of hits and fails would be good example for foundation and concealer. I know it's a lot, so anything you can tell about this would be much appreciated. Thank you very much and congrats for your channels.

I kinda felt the same way about them. Their packaging is pretty cool but I felt the same way about the blush and eyeshadows. Also the lipsticks are not very varied. I did not like the lipgloss. It did not last very long. Also there mascara won’t stay if you have tearing in your eyes. It’s not long lasting. I think I just got hooked on the packaging. It seems hard to find cool packaging for clean beauty. Also I was asking for a refund because I wasn’t 100 percent happy with it and they said that I had to send it back when their website says they will refund you without you having to send it back.
Oh my! Not a good Oh my! The positive is when you first put on the liquid eyeshadow it really brought out the blue in your eyes. Not so positive, the blush and eyebrow make up looks like dirt on your face, meaning that you were in a garden and accidently wiped your face with a dirty glove. Not a good thing for you and your very pretty face!! Thanks for sharing!💚

The eyeshadow formula is lovely, I think I just need to try one of the matte ones or a different shade! The blush is a hard pass though

I tried with a sponge and it soaked up all the product. I think you can get much better formulas for that price but you do you!

Oh my! Not a good Oh my! The positive is when you first put on the liquid eyeshadow it really brought out the blue in your eyes. Not so positive, the blush and eyebrow make up looks like dirt on your face, meaning that you were in a garden and accidently wiped your face with a dirty glove. Not a good thing for you and your very pretty face!! Thanks for sharing!💚
I do really enjoy the eyeshadow formula, I think I just need to try one of the matte ones! But the rest was a clear fail :/
@@StateofKait Hopefully the company will see this feedback and work on their formula, it definitely seems like they are trying to make a very clean product.
Unfortunately I don’t think they are fully vegan as they use beeswax in their lip products.

I don’t understand how you read about it and read verbatim that they put an ingredient in the eyeshadow that is used in cooking and then right after say “it smells like vanilla. I have no idea why”
No, I mean WHY did they flavor an eyeshadow in the first place.
