This was the saddest band I discovered after my first marriage ended I came back to NYC from Belgium and randomly saw them perform on the LES. They were giving away CD's. I got one and listened to this on repeat while riding the subway and brown bagging 40s.
Coming back to this. High school soundtrack for me, running on the trail with my sansa clip and grizzly bear...Their early stuff I strongly prefer. I adore the lo-fi folk elements, nostalgia and emotion for me...They had quite a unique concoction back in the day. I wish they were still as brave and crazy as they were when they sparked
I always gravitate towards this album when I’m really depressed. Something about it’s stark, simple composition just fits perfectly with feeling alone. Music you can’t share with anyone else. It’s just for you
I like how, whenever you pull up a Grizzly Bear video to watch, UA-cam helpfully suggests that you watch "Wolf vs Grizzly Bear" or a "Grizzly Bear Attacks!" video. Thanks, intro-nets!
Probably one of the saddest Grizzly Bear albums...not as in it's bad, as in it's got a lot of songs that make me feel a bit emotional. Great album...the first album of theirs that I knew of and it grew on me a lot. I love all of their stuff...great musicians.
[Verse] I'm a deep sea diver with my fins And underneath your current I do swim A baker's dozen pretty pearls And when I try them on my toes do curl 'Cause you, you got everything that I want A car, the house, the dog You got everything that I want [Bridge] Just keep me a while Just keep me a while Just keep me a while Just keep me a while Just keep me a while [Outro] I'm a deep sea diver losing air And around you laps I swim but you don't care
ok not sure if i'm imagining this...but this seems like it would be INSANE to watch/listen to high. Even watching it sober is making me FEEL high....lol
Funny you should say that, cuz they opened for Radiohead's North American tour last year. It was a great show! I'd never heard of Grizzly Bear before, but I really liked the sound.
I think it means that in life there are many obstacles that get in our way and intentionally make our lives harder, but in the end we all suffer the same fate.
It doesn't matter if the sound is repetative, doesn't matter if it's to slow, I really like this song !!! beacuse it has a special univer... special feelings, this is why i'm made of this band, they don't need to be popular, they just play their OWN shit !!!
i just made that last statement come true. im so high, and that video was soo crazy. that's the only reason i came down to read the comments, to see that i wasn't the only one.
I'll agree on Kid A being the "best" in terms of creativity and a true Radiohead sound, but in terms of listenability I think In Rainbows was a relatively flawless album, and for most situations it would be the first album I would put on. If Videotape had been a better closing song the album would be perfect (something along the lines of Exit Music would have been epic...)
i like video its like an old commador game :) proper retro!!!! wel b4 utube n fb n all tht those was the days cassette tapes squeely noises coloured lines on tv while loading and after waiting through all tht it crashed :(
wow pretty much 96.7% of people commenting don't know how to listen to music. You say its boring and repetitive, well the whole song isn't about the music there is also lyrics and certain sounds and styles the band created intentionally that if you were actually listening to the music you would just listen to it and not label and compare it to other irrelevant bands.
I've so far heard 3 of there songs. Someone a few hours ago told me about them. And as i'm seeing, alot of people are having arguments over wheather Grizzly and Radiohead are similar or whatever. IMO, the timbre sound of Grizzly is definitely different, more raw, less electronic than RadioH. The singing... still similar to Tom York, in a "feeling" way, but more 70's in a stylish way. Music, definitely has elements - duration and Pitch are similar to Radiohead. Good band so far, me like.

Sounds like pure emo life to me.
I remember finding this song on myspace holy shit time flies. How sad.

I've always felt very close to this album especially considering when it came into my life. It will always remain my favorite by Grizzly Bear.
Will never not be my favorite song by them.
I always gravitate towards this album when I’m really depressed. Something about it’s stark, simple composition just fits perfectly with feeling alone. Music you can’t share with anyone else. It’s just for you
I love early Grizzly Bear!
God I wish I had artistic abilities. Even just mediocre skills. The ability to convey the images and feelings in your head is the greatest gift.
This is my favorite band forever
still my favourite song of theirs
I like how, whenever you pull up a Grizzly Bear video to watch, UA-cam helpfully suggests that you watch "Wolf vs Grizzly Bear" or a "Grizzly Bear Attacks!" video. Thanks, intro-nets!

It's one hell of a breakup album. It rivals Sea Change by Beck in that regard.
I like how the imagery in this video is connected directly with a direct visual representation of the sound.
Damn, this song is amazing. Such good memories.
This one of those songs that I wish was longer. It's so lovely, yet it doesn't seem quite finished.
Banger. Hadn't listened to this album in years
This band blows my mind!!!! They have a sound that goes right through me.
THIS song specifically makes me feel under water haha! Horn of Plenty is so unique and awesome!
i got so attached to Veckatimest for the longest time that i assumed that a lo-fi Grizzly Bear would not sound good. I was wrong as fuck.
I love this song so much and the video is amasing also.....Im hoepfully seeing this band live in like a month, cant wait!
Beautiful to the eyes and ears.

And around you laps I swim but you don't care
Pretty sure it’s thirteen pearls
Brilliant. The wonderful animation just enhances the great song.
Whatta great little illustration we have here
This is great. They really captured something here.

first saw this vid on subterranean on mtv (1hr of indie music videos) back in 2005. wow this band has come along way.
TVinmyEye So did I! The first time I saw this, 2005, at 2am in my parents basement.
Daniel Modica haha, yeah wish that show was still around.
These videos are almost too good that the music isn't getting enough of my attention! Love it though!
I love it when they allow the mix just one decibel of breathing room. @@
wow first ad I didn't skip!
aw the lyrics to this song are so good
Pretty dark stuff, but I get it that it’s a part of younger people’s life memories. I’m an old timer = Classic rocker.
that is an awsome song I love it soo much!!!
Great song....cool video. Very hypnotizing.
ok not sure if i'm imagining this...but this seems like it would be INSANE to watch/listen to high. Even watching it sober is making me FEEL high....lol
this is beautiful. id be so dissapointed if grizzly bear went mainstream.
I like when the song gets louder at 2:27
really good drums
this song is my blood type
thanks for the quality upload!
Funny you should say that, cuz they opened for Radiohead's North American tour last year. It was a great show! I'd never heard of Grizzly Bear before, but I really liked the sound.
This comment section gives me that graveyard feeling.
Still my favorite Grizzly Bear song :')
I love this video so cool
this video is so amazing. i love it a billion times very much. wow that made sense lol
Just saw them at Sasquatch '09. They were amazing.
I always seem to love bands like this. Why are they never given the credit they deserve?
All these comments are so old. Still loving this band ! 😌
Look up Daniel Rossen's solo work & Department of Eagles if you want more of "their" content ❤
Made me think of 'The life aquatic with Steve Zissou'
my favourite song by far.
props to Tyler Coburn! this video is somehow beautiful to me.
beautiful. fills my head up, if you know what I mean.
I love this song and video....even though it looks a little like a computer game I think it fits very nicely =)
beautiful
i wanna get these lyrics tattooed. They mean so much to me.

I think it means that in life there are many obstacles that get in our way and intentionally make our lives harder, but in the end we all suffer the same fate.
can't believe this is 13 years old!!
Sinead M yea cuz it's 12yo
Sinead M 10 yrs old? This came out in 2004, its 13 maybe 12 when you wrote this comment
And pop music is 10 times worse.
great song
my favorite part is the disco ghost :)
Why am I always utterly confused when I watch a Grizzly Bear music video?
Someone make this 1080p please D:.
I never got into grizzly bear...BUT then i heard them when i was HIGH
And now im just moved by thier music......it's fucking brilliant man
I love the end.
:) the skeleton disco made me laugh
Chris is from Seattle, Washington!
Now thats a nice sound evoked potential, nice sharp tungsten electrodes recording straight from auditory coretex.............
It doesn't matter if the sound is repetative, doesn't matter if it's to slow, I really like this song !!! beacuse it has a special univer... special feelings, this is why i'm made of this band, they don't need to be popular, they just play their OWN shit !!!
this is cool
the real music!!
@MoondogUSA what's a "thing like a time signature change" are you talking about a key change? Chord progression?
I would not want to get this song confused with 'Deep Blue Sea' at a funeral.
I'd like to play this game.
i just made that last statement come true. im so high, and that video was soo crazy. that's the only reason i came down to read the comments, to see that i wasn't the only one.
this video is great, it scares the shit out of me
Cause that's where most of that stuff comes from, prime example: '60's and '70's and honestly the '80's
these guys are way cool!
pretty, funny and intelligent... nice combo... whats the catch¿?
no i think the song you are thinking of is elliot smith - needle in the hay stack
PAUL WHO WAS A GHOST now goes scuba diving.
Grizzly bear is rad.
i get weirdly addicted to them
If I was a caveman, I would jam to this by the fire
hell yes.

yesss
@JoshuaSuperham I've always thought of Grizzly Bear as something like Grizzly Bear.
i like video its like an old commador game :) proper retro!!!! wel b4 utube n fb n all tht those was the days cassette tapes squeely noises coloured lines on tv while loading and after waiting through all tht it crashed :(
nice!
THIS VIDEO REMINDS ME ''IT FIT WHEN I WAS A KID'' BY LIARS
i don't know about "very deep" but "wow" and "crazy" are sure right...
advertisements are death in disguise
thats actually a pretty good analogy haha

@tokugawahisaka07 aren't they playing Shoots and Ladders?
