Both of them justify Super's existence all on their own. It's so refreshing to have Goku (and Vegeta) have actual mentors that he won't over power in a single episode that can continue helping them to grow beyond a single arc and power up. It keeps them humble and gives them a reason to keep training after the current big bad is defeated and gives them a narrative reason to not constantly be protecting Earth so the B team has the opportunity to shine every now and then ( ToP and DBSH). The fact that they are both endlessly entertaining characters with reasonable justification to not step in to solve every problem on top of that is just the cherry on top.
@@JebAlertWell put! I do like they kept some realism in the sense that they can't overpower gods, they can give them a run for their money but they're gods at the end of the day, which is why Goku had to use Zeno to eliminate Zamasu

Back in the days when the movie was released, it was this moment when I accepted Beerus in the Dragonballverse, and became one of my favorite characters too. Gave me some classic old-school vibe when they fought not to death and respected each other for the skills they have
Feels like classic Dragonball. This may scale higher than any of the previous fights, but it's really no different to Beerus than the finals of a martial arts tournament. And I think that's why Goku and him get along
TOEI has yet to realise the basic empathy inducing power of music. They think that "GO GO CHA CHA LA LAAAAA" is hype as fuck so they use it every, every single fucking fight. And then have zero music over everything else. They don't want to pay money. They don't even like paying the new artists.

I was so ecstatic when Goku lost to Beerus. It really marked the beginning of something *NEW* . It wasn’t just another God of power destroyed by Goku and scaling him to infinity again, it was a moment to him AND the audience “Whoa, he really did lose”. And many people were screaming “SECOND WIN! HE’S GONNA BEAT HIM! THERE’S NO WAY THEY’D LET THE WORLD GET DESTROYED” but he just couldn’t do it. And Beerus wasn’t even close to giving it everything he had. It IS okay to lose sometimes and I appreciate that Goku finally had something to live up to instead of just blasting his way through every obstacle. He finally got RELATABLE again after 26 YEARS
Goku was always relatable, he couldn't beat cell, and he asked for help plenty of times to defeat a villain (buu),and that's one of the reasons ppl love him.
In my opinion, The Z fighters and (and mainly)Vegeta are the real MVPs, as much as I love Goku, before Super, he would always come in after the Z fighters weakened the enemy. Not saying saying that Goku isn't Powerful, he just takes forever to get to the fight. He's more like the Anchor to the team, Vegeta is the first line of defense and then there's the Z fighters who fight together, combining their strength to help weaken what ever over powered monstrosity that comes to wreak havoc. They're all a team, no one is more important than the other and they really showed that off in Super.
@@ZenthosSohtnez I never could've guessed that was the same thing just said in a different way if it wasn't for your smart, intelligent and incredibly obvious comment 🙏🙏🙏
For some reason Beerus sounds so much like a father talking to their kid. His voice is so gentle and coaxing, comforting. A far cry from his usual gruff one. It makes me happy.
I think Beerus respects Goku here, but even more, as their relationship grows. When he achieves Ultra Instinct, he sees Goku as a true contender. He respects him, but his pride and station will not allow him to show this respect. In the Tournament of Power, he showed respect to Roshi and Gohan, which was nice.
I cannot emphasize enough how much I love the idea of an ultra powerful villain who “just wants to hear you say that you give up.” Especially within the context of “I could blow up the entire world if I wanted to, but I’m not an asshole. I’m in it for the love of the craft. If you give up, I’ll stop.”
Death from puss in boots is another though the stakes for that fight weren’t as high you could argue that it’s the same level of opponent both just wanting to make sure they get the respect they deserve. In puss’s case it was a humbling of his own mortality in goku’s case it’s accepting an L
I remember watching this in high school with my girl at the time. She wasn't paying attention obviously but I've seen it so many times that I wasn't either. With the song in the back it's giving me a nostalgic vibe to back then. I lost her but, It's okay to lose sometimes.
Bruh I don't get the "she wasn't paying attention obviously" part. I don't wanna put words in your mouth or anything, but it sounds like your implying that it's because she was your girlfriend or because she's a girl. Is this the case? Or did you mean to imply you guys were doing something else at the time?
This was probably one of the most wholesome and sad moments of Dragon Ball, The fact that Goku gave up and wasn't able to succeed knowing he's always found a way to overcome every villian he's ever faced. Hopefully someday Goku will finally become stronger than Beerus
Depending on how you interpret what was said in tournament of power, there is a good chance he is either stronger or at least on the same level. This is because jurin is stronger than his god of destruction and that God of destruction is the 2nd strongest with the strongest being Beerus. Depending on how much stronger Beerus is compared to the other gods, Goku is likely stronger.
@@dillzilla4454 Beerus literally took on every other god at once including his own brother in the manga and came out on top for zenos amusement I think Goku has a long way to go

That's why I respect Lord beerus he knows honor 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Whis and Beerus have really grown on me. I really like them both, and hope they're here to stay for a while.
Agreed.
Same
@@JebAlertWell put! I do like they kept some realism in the sense that they can't overpower gods, they can give them a run for their money but they're gods at the end of the day, which is why Goku had to use Zeno to eliminate Zamasu

Whis and Beerus have lived million of years to increase their power over Goku.
Beerus is probably my favorite character, the way they wrote out his character to be all powerful but not necessarily interested in always winning is brilliant. An all powerful being that wants more than anything to have a proper challenge.
That's the true essence of power
But that's... describing at least half of every strong shounen character I can think of. my favorite had always been Zaraki Kenpachi from Bleach. It's not exactly an uncommon character archetype

He finally got RELATABLE again after 26 YEARS
Super revived my love for the Z fighters. I cant wait for the next arc to be animated. The manga has been popping OFF.
Goku was always relatable, he couldn't beat cell, and he asked for help plenty of times to defeat a villain (buu),and that's one of the reasons ppl love him.
😂 he lost to cell and gave up
""and scaling him to infinity again""
*that aged like sour milk.*

R.I.P in Akira making dragon ball super and dragon ball z and dragon ball gt the best series
That's true development.
Not even just the world. Beerus is a multiversal destroyer. The God of Destruction can literally erase universes if he wished.
Death from puss in boots is another though the stakes for that fight weren’t as high you could argue that it’s the same level of opponent both just wanting to make sure they get the respect they deserve. In puss’s case it was a humbling of his own mortality in goku’s case it’s accepting an L

Or did you mean to imply you guys were doing something else at the time?
It takes a lot for Goku to admit that he’s given up.
