Great post....thank-you for that. Last month I spent a whole week in Amsterdam specifically to see the Frans Hals exhibit on loan to the Rijksmuseum. They are still currently showing this group of Hals paintings up until the first week of June. Paintings from the Frans Hals Museum were combined with other works already housed at the Rijks. At least two paintings of a couple were reunited again at this show after being sold and then separated for literally hundreds of years.
I guess it is because frans hals is not as deep as vermeer, Rembrandt and Velasquez. he is a good artist. those three are more intellectually inquisitive. vermeer 'allegory of painting' is a very interesting composition. Rembrandt 'night watch' challenges renaissance classical composition. Velasquez 'les maninas' is a very perplexing masterpiece. Frank hals works show his minimal approach to painting and his keen observation to human emotion. his work lacks the courage to question the idea of space, lighting and composition.
@@dannysze8183 O Sorry ! (Forgot🙄) What I was trying to say is that Hals' importance lies in the fact that before Rembrandt even painted Hals was capable of catching movement in the moment. With that he captures the soul of the person whithout 'disturbing' the sitting model or individuals. His groupportraits of gathered guild members are so honest and lively painted, caught in a convincenly monumental composition that precedes the Nightwatch. Personally I find the vituosity and mastering of light and colour amazing and poëtic. The man paints love. Even Van Gogh says at at a particular point : Frans Hals truly is the greatest if you look closely.... Now ofcource the one genious is not the other, so compairing them is purely a personel matter.... P.s. take care, because a lot of the pictures shown here are NOT Frans Hals'
@@jsb7975 very nice. I like hals work too. no matter frans hals, Rembrandt, vermeer or Velasquez. it is not important who is more famous. being famous doesn't mean they are better. the most important thing is that we love art and art history. do you study art history? I am a portrait painter, I think frans hals is a master. he might even be a better portrait painter than Velasquez. Rembrandt is the best of the best.

Back to great paintings, lousy soundtrack. What were you thinking? Couldn’t find some traditional Dutch music of the era or some Dutch folk music to complement the paintings? How about students at a Dutch conservatory of music, I’m sure some classical music school would love to contribute and get a chance to showcase their students musical talent. Anything but this background sound dreck which totally ruins the gorgeous painting of HALS. How could you, it’s a desecration.

Поразительно,как художник отразил разнообразие характеров,а особенно,эта грусть в глазах...🌷🌷🌷
I never knew that Hals was such a great painter of kids (2:42-2:56). I've never seen anything like it in other painters' works.
i wish that those with thump down would take the time and tell us why
Frans Hals is beyond beauty.
He truly is one of the genious!
(Why is it that he is not that famous among Vermeer, Rembrandt, Velasques)
