The founders of this company are scammers!! They treat their employees very bad!!
The turnover is enormous, it’s surprising if an employee stays more than 6 months to work.
And with a team of juniors you will never develop a good game.

Pretty shocking how big of an outfit they got going on, they're making too much money (or laundering and the eShop Poop is a front).
I am from Moldova and I've only heard bad things about their management. Thank you for calling them out, hope this gets more attention, even though it saddens me that this is the reputation our country is making for itself.

I can't count how many times I looked up a $2 Switch game to see some reviews or gameplay footage and found a takedown video from SwitchStars, one of the fairest channels there is, saving me many dollars and heartache that buying a shite game would have caused me. Thank you, SwitchStars! Is there a Midnight Works facebook page or youtube channel that we could go to in order to write some scathing review? Companies like this need to get boycotted.

Thats actually true. The few times I saw Star of Shovelware or SwitchStars now give a game a 5/5 I was like well now that game really gotta be good. Dont tend to have that feeling with most reviewers tbh

Nintendo needs to pull their finger out and deal with these cockends. I remember the olden days when the "Nintendo Seal of Approval" meant something. Clearly Nintendo probably aren't bothered about the eShop now, but when the Switch 2 eventually comes out, maybe they'll put things in place then.
Funny how a company who is scamming others and making a profit off of lies are the ones complaining that their reputation is being hurt by someone bringing light to their operations. Keep up the great work Luke!!!

Midnight Works and RedDeerGames and other sus publishers flood Nintendo eShop with trash, makes the eShop slow to navigate, and take up Nintendo Dev Kits that would be better given to more truthful developers

This is true.
I worked for them a while back. On my first day I was invited to a work chat, where an employee sent a picture of a toilet with hair on the rim (sorry for the details), and wrote that if he will find the one who did it, he would make him clean it by his hands. The thing is, in that message he specifically pinned all the men of the chat, including me, who worked there one day, so we could all see that we wouldn't run away from "responsibility". And the thing is, this was a regular employee who allowed himself more than he should, just because he worked there for a longer time than others, but the bosses turned a blind eye and ignored it. To say that I was shocked is an understatement.
I don't know what's going on there now, maybe things are getting better.
It's just unprofessional to do these kinds of things IMO and the fact that the management let it happen and even endorse it speaks volumes about the company. From what I have heard, there are a lot of unhappy people working there, but equally there are probably some who are content with how things are run.
I wonder if Google will do something if you show them this evidence

This is extraordinary - as you say, very good indie developers are producing good games, while Nintendo do nothing about company's such as Mindnight Works, making it much more difficult for good game developers to be noticed.
Midnight Works should not be in buisness, Nintendo should take some responsibility. Luke, you should have an extra 100,000 subs.

Yep, It's not just Midnight Works, there are plenty of publishers polluting the Switch E-shop with drivel but its Nintendos prerogative to stop it, I can only do so much. Chee😄rs dude, I plan on keeping up the fight

This company once tried to make a game called Racing Tracks and used models stolen from Hotwheels Unleashed. Game got delisted and takedown since it was reported to Hotwheels Unleashed Discord server, but the videos of the gameplay are still in UA-cam for Android gameplay channels. I hardly buy their games since knowing their reputation on abandoning games from Steam. Keep doing what you are doing, and hopefully more gamers are aware of their sketchy methods.
That's interesting to know, I hadn't heard about this. Drop me a link if you have one. The problem is most people aren't aware of their reputation, and even if they are, Midnight Works publish under about 10 different names so its easy to be fooled twice. Thanks dude I plan to.

Just as a suggestion, you might reach out to Stephanie Sterling at The Jimquisition for help or advice. They've similarly been targeted by scam developers several times over the years, and might be able to give a hand.
Yea Sterling has mentioned one of my videos in a Jimquisition before, they are familiar with my work - I may look at messaging them to ask for advice if things escalate further. Thanks for the advice.
Seeing this, it's astounding that such a company is still in business. Judging a game's quality might be up for debate, but sending employees after a UA-camr and their channel is a clear violation of ethics. You might want to consider setting up a backup channel for your followers to subscribe to, just in case this one gets taken down. You'll have my subscription and support.
This situation reminds me of what went on with asset flipper developers on Steam and Jim Stephanie Sterling. They tired to get videos taken down with false copyright claims. A studio trying to get their 240+ staff to get report videos they don't like is new. Most of these outfits are one or two operations, not a proper company like Midnight.
Yea I've previously had some backlash from asset flippers and not so long ago had a false copyright claim from one which was rejected by UA-cam. This though is something entirely different and though my opinion is biased as its happening to me, I don't think this kind of action from a publisher should be acceptable or taken lightly.
On a slightly unrelated note, their company gets good reviews when you Google them. Until you learn their reviews are mostly written by their employees which is against Google policy as "a conflict of interest". Let's change that.
Oh they are undoubtedly fake reviews because from what I've heard, morale isn't great in the company.
Wow…just, wow…you can add a fourth group onto your To Blame list…the schmuckos who keep buying their trash. Just look at the Charts in the eShop, these games are constantly featuring! That raft simulator thing is actually number 1 now for several weeks. How can we get the message out to more gamers? Or are people buying these on purpose just to be “different” or “spiteful”? This is killing my love for the eShop…
Oh of course, I was going to mention that in this video but cut it out, but its the same story as the IAPs and loot crates, people continue to buy them so they remain in existence. People can get the message out by sharing videos like this, I don't see any other Switch channels or big UA-camrs speaking up and my reach is negligible.
Dude I'm developer who got denied access from switch SDK to release my game which many people who tested said it feels AAA , when I comforted Nintendo Europe with testers feedback and brought attention to the shovelware and this people games , Nintendo stopped communicating to me I contacted Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Japan both of them were baffled by the behaviour of Nintendo of Europe by letting this kinda stuff released and refused even to them to explain and told they are not in position to do anything to help me out because they operates independently
This doesn't surprise me one bit, I've heard similar from other developers. Big publishers like Midnight Works already have a foot in the door and the third part publishing team at Nintendo entrusts them with adhering to policy and to vet their own games it seems. The thing is, these games all exist on the US and Japanese e-shops, so If that really was the case, why aren't they stopping it there?
@@SwitchStars to publish in Japan you need to have an office or another company publish it for you , publishing for the US if you are in Europe you go through Nintendo of Europe even if the game is submitted to us eshop ,Nintendo of America gives you only the game code the rest is handheld by Europe

I hope there is a way You can contact YT (if it actually is of any worth) and present the situation before them actually before these scammers' harrasment in the form of massive reports gets noticed.

Thanks dude. I messaged YT on twitter to say I was expecting an incoming attack, they just said they review all reports. I'm always grateful for the support my viewers provide and its always good to hear from people I've saved from buying their shite. Its good to know I have support from some of these publishers employees, they seem to hate them as much as I do lol
Luke! I love your channel and I've seen almost all of your videos man! I'm so sorry this crap is happening to you. This is absolute BS I've never seen a "game developer" go after someone who simply tries to warn people about the games they're going to be buying. Have you tried to reach out to bigger game channels or gaming news websites to get the news out about Midnight Works? I will definitely be spreading this to as many as I can and if I may pose a suggestion? I would suggest messaging Gameranx, Falcon, or Jake Baldino, they spread gamer awareness and news and they would jump to help you out in this situation, it's not right.

It comes with the territory dude, some publishers take their lumps, others decide to set the dogs on you 😂 I haven't reached out to bigger channels really, I have spoken to Alex at SwitchCorner who's a good friend of mine and emailed Nintendo Life but that's as far as I've gone, I have never really gone asking people for help, they have their own content to worry about and I just assume this is a fight they're not willing to get involved with. I watch Gameranx videos occasionally but not heard of the others, isn't Falcon one of Gameranx?? Anyway, I rely on my audience to spread the word about these things or creators to pick up on it and run with it if its something they want to get involved with, please feel free to share wherever you like to spread the word. Hopefully nothing comes of this and UA-cam see it for what it is 🙂
@SwitchStars They shouldn't be trying to get your channel demolished over their own horrid scams! That's insane! I've never heard of any developer in any sense trying this hard to screw someone over. I really really hope that the gaming community blows up over this because everyone should know what a HORRIBLE company MW is, as with all of their subsidiaries.
Yes Falcon is one of the Gameranx crew and I constantly watch all of their videos along with yours and a few others, there are some (like yourself) that just make me all happy and feel like a kid when I watch their videos because not only are they fan-friendly and constantly love to hear feedback so they can better improve themselves for the fans, but it reminds me of how fun gaming can be and how games are a passion and art, not only just a way to escape reality for a bit.
I will definitely do my due diligence and spread the word to everyone I know about this unfathomable situation, I hope it goes well for you my dude, and I really hope this backfires on Midnight Works HARD. The problem with publishers/developers like Midnight Works AND RedDeerGames, is that they get the Nintendo Dev Kits that are hard for other, more truthful developers, to get. So smaller indie game developers publish through them.

The switch store is partly to blame for these jokers and their kind. Just go onto new releases section, nearly all shiteware. Sale section full of "90%" off rubbish too. Good luck with the ongoing battle.

Yea I don't think anyone else has really took any notice of them, though Alex from SwitchCorner and a couple of other channels have mentioned them or their games once or twice.

Yea, I still cant say with 100% certainty which is why I said in the video, they appear to have conducted these actions based on the evidence presented. They definitely have more cash than me though so suing may be out of the question 😂

Nah, I haven't had the need to get a lawyer involved yet, I think the negative press they are getting from their own actions is enough at the moment, just need people to keep sharing it to spread the word.

there is actually 0 things wrong with asset flipping. It's not the flipping part that's the issue, it's the trash games that often result from those that choose to asset flip. being mad at asset flipping would be like calling all Minecraft mini games trash for using Minecraft blocks. Actually I'd severely prefer a studio save time and effort using an asset or two or three over wasting the extra energy and time to build say a car, barrel, 2X4, rock etc that really isn't going to change the immersion of the game either way.
Is there a way to get some eyes from bigger UA-camr communities to help spread awareness? This is the kind of things Karl Jobst, Mutahar, and Moistcritikal are great at helping with. You've done so much great work documenting how scummy the higher ups in that company are. I feel bad for the employees that are likely just trying to make game and pay their bills, but ended up being exploited.
Without people sharing the content there's no way for it to get noticed by these creators 😊
I don’t know enough about UA-cam but can you contact UA-cam with this information and let them know of this unscrupulous action by Midnight Works and its employees, so they won’t shut down your channel?
Also reach out to SwitchUp and Nintendo Life and ask them to get this information out there.
I messaged YT on Twitter, they responded with all reports have to be verified before action is taken and that was all lol. SwitchCorner Alex may be putting something out, I haven't spoke to SwitchUp but I know those guys are always mega bust and Nintendo Life are aware but may not have enough content or evidence to write on so, we will see if anyone bigger than myself publishes anything about this 😊

Usually only high profile titles that grab the attention of larger UA-camrs, It's probably not worth the risk for a lot of them but SwitchUp has featured a couple of the scam titles in their videos.

It's really not that hard to make good games, people have been doing it for more than 5 decades. I just don't get it.
They have, but most publisher/developer companies actually have a passion for gaming, Midnight Works is headed by a trio of wankers just looking to make money and don't care about the quality of their games or the work satisfaction of their employees; they are literally given no creative freedom and I have no doubt a lot of them are very talented individuals but they are being forced to create so called "games" that they couldn't give two shits about. The developers are not to be blamed here, they are living in a country which the main game publisher has monopolised and have very little choice if they want to pursue a field they are passionate about.
I received an email from them on my publisher/dev account asking for my game to be ported by their team... before answering, I decided to do a quick google search and ended up here watching this ;)
I do not think I will be taking them up on their offer after all! lol
I am aware of a lot of small indie developers being sent similar emails and it appears as though they phish for responses. By any chance was the email formatted with an introduction, followed by a generic statement on how they played your game, really enjoyed it and how they will absorb all costs for porting it to multiple platforms, that it could find significant interest from a global audience, and finally a brag about their $2,000,000 revenue Kanjozoku game? You did good to dodge that bullet IMO.
