I feel like the missed opportunity started after the two year time skip. I had expected Sakura to still be as she was, but matured enough through her training to represent the same character development just as strong as Naruto maybe not in strength or power, but as a stronger version of what we got in general. I would have loved to see her match Naruto's will of fire, be more stoic and determined in her abilities. The glimpse we had of her ruthlessness in her fighting ability was short lived multiple times even when she had the most potential then any other female character to be a power house 3rd to only Naruto and Sasuke. Thats how I would've like her, even if she wasn't the fan favorite, she should've been a name to remember above all else. And I also think that they should've kept Team 7 with just Naruto, Kakashi and Sakura, in the sense that they valued Sasuke so much and wanted to return him, that they would've refused to accept anyone else into the team. This would be their sole mission, having them more edgy and focused as a team that worked together because they experienced much together, making them the strongest team, even without Sasuke, to have ever been formed in the history of the hidden village.
