IMPORTANT READ IT ALL TO FULLY UNDERSTAND MY POINT OF WIEW THANKS! If you have just discovered Marios from this video I highly recommend you watch his videos to get a real general idea of what he is about. Essentially, people who love bodybuilding don't appreciate his content because to attract as many audiences as possible he creates shorts to create triggers and talking but essentially his message consists of wanting to bring the mentality of a more functional bodybuilding (i.e. one that can also be used to other than aesthetics or outside the gyms) and also a physique that both he and I consider more beautiful (since it is based on natural standards this would bring benefits both for the health of all bodybuilders but also for the sport itself because would attract more women and this would lead to a larger audience). Obviously you have to know how to filter the two sides of the coin of an online character, just as I too am embarrassed by seeing things done purposely badly, I understand the valid information he wants to convey. obviously this is HIS point of view towards bodybuilding which I also share but I recognize that others (like Munk) may not find it right according to their bodybuilding ideals and I consider it legitimate to make videos of this type since, despite Mario making use of strategies to increase his audience, something said stupidly is still something said stupidly. I write all this not to hate or anything (even if I don't agree with your philosophy I saw the video and it made me laugh sincerely) but to invite people like me to take a look at Mario and his brother and evaluate the content yourself since I also do bodybuilding and my training style and thinking have changed since I discovered them and I feel like I have found the right path for me. BMI is correct 99.99% of the time. Because it's a population based stat. Plus just because you're a 35 BMI muscular bodybuilder doesn't make a BMI of 35 any healthier. There's a reason the majority of athletes are lean and not overly big
Yea, BMI is great at a general health indicator. Whether it's muscle or fat, it's still weight. A bodybuilder and someone whose obese are generally gonna have similar health risks.
i do both gym and martial arts and i agree with mario on most of this stuff ive spared agianst really bulky muscular guys and i overpowerd them pretty easy even tho they prolly pench squat and deadlift way more than me being strong is a specific movement doesint mean ur strong in everything but if u combine gym and sports u can very strong btw im not saying this to rip on body builders i have respect for bodu builders this is towards the people who go to gym and think that bc they lift heavy circles that they're the strongest person around and are unstobable i myself have been beaten by ppl smaller and skinnier than me size and strength is not everything u need both technique and strength like for an example eddie hall the strongest man on the planet was hurt by a leg kick from a 9 year old boy who was around 30 40 kgs. the point is that ppl need to accept body builders and strong man are stronger in the gym and sometimes out of the gym but fighters are better at fighting if ur insacure abt not being big and mucley or not being able to fight just do both and if u cant stop complaining. this concludes my yap sesh
I work in construction and I tie rebar and carry heavy rebar. There is one guy who works with us that does go to the gym and I'll say he's a good size in muscle. Now I can move more rebar than him. Yet in the gym he is stronger than me on squats.
To be honest, there are some ideas of Mario Rios that i agree disagree with. The things i agree with are if you want to be an athlete or a fighter then you should not train like a bodybuilder because they only focus on muscle mass most of the time but you should focus on athleticism, strength and conditioning. I also agree that athletes and fighters should not use machines because most of the time if you only workout with free weights and bodyweights then your core gets stronger and your strength gets better while machines do not make your core function but machines work for muscle mass more than free weights so if your goal is to be a bodybuilder then you should use machines. I also agree that carbs should really be part of your meal, especially for pre-workout because it fuels your body and helps you get energetic. Last thing i agree with is strength and muscle mass are not the same thing. But the things that i do not agree with are how he says bodybuilders are weak but most of them are very strong but not strong as powerlifters and strongman lifters and i also do not agree about how machines are stupid because machines can be used for mass, help you lift if you have an injury and more. He talks about athletic performance and martial arts but not everyone wants to be a fighter and not everyone wants to be a bodybuilder, people have their own goals. We understand that bodybuilding is not supposed to be trained for fighting but if you want to be in a bigger weight class in martial arts then you should do bodybuilding since it helps you gain muscle mass but you should also train your athleticism, strength and conditioning as well if you will be a fighter.

Also that doesn’t necessarily equate to other abilities. They may be strong, even violent, but that doesn’t mean they’re good at it. I remember seeing one dude I used to work with absolutely get destroyed by a guy half his size in a bar fight he started, because he thought being a brick layer meant he was Hercules.
He has a point though. Muscle mass does not correlate with strength. It depends a lot on your genetics and your type of training. Go back to the twitch streamers pal.
but buddy if you are 60kg and lift 70 while someone is 80kg and lifts 85kg dosent mean youre stronger they still lift more go back and watch the video again
The more muscle you have, the more strength you can get
Compare the 81kg weightlifting class with the 89kg weightlifting class. Similar heights but the heavier guys lift way more. (209kg in 81kg class to 223kg) and most of them were once 81kg who moved up
@@filmarcho depends on how much you perceive strength. Either absolute or relative weight. While at the same time there are people who weight more than me and I out lift them in everything.
@@maurobg8066 well first this reply isn't as much to me than it is to the other guy and second weight never means everything think about the fact that the guys who weight more than you that you out lift may have more fat than muscle or may be taller than you meaning longer range of motion or simply added more bone weight
Edit: now I saw what I wrote before yup I'm absolutely right if someone lifts more than you they are simply stronger no other way around it

Ever since I started watching Mario I've felt so much better about myself. What I once thought were weaknesses in my physique I know see are blessing.
I have a small waist, broad shoulders and a developed upper chest. But since I was always on the lighter side I almost look weird. But when I put on a little more weight these features really stood out as attractive features.
The only people mad at Mario are the people who made conscious choices to look a certain way and subsequently get clowned on for it

That will not get you far. Find out what is your goal and chase it.
If you want to get bigger -Bodybuild
If you want to get stronger (in the 3 lifts) - Powerlift
If you want to run fast - Become a runner.
If you want to be a fighter - become a fighter.
and so on.
The thing is, that the way you are currently training will not get you anywhere, because you don't even know where you want to go.

Why dose he show an Olympic lifter failing an otherwise impressive lift and saying he's weak?
he actually gives good advice to the average lifter its just it dosent apply to some people bc he talking about actually being healthy and using the muscle you gain from the gym outside but some people dont have those kinds of goals
here's a little story :)

Mario: oh it's me because i weight 70kg and my one rep max is 90kg while he is 100kg and his one rep max is just 139.99kg meaning in % i'm still stronger.

It wasn't. This one hit right on target. Why are there so many Matio fanboys in this comment section?
at the start he was trying to say that just having big muscles makes you stronger than people who arent (such as anatoly)
There is no point to talking bad about someone for being big or strong. If you want to be an athlete then do you but that’s not the case for the majority of adults. For me personally, as long as I can walk my dog, ride my bicycle, and get up from a fall, I’m chillin. I like being big and strong too but it doesn’t enhance or detract from my day to day life.

Did a "coach" really just use BMI as an actually argument.
I agree with Mario bro lokey he makes valid points but ppl are dumb and take what he says too literal.
i do both gym and martial arts and i agree with mario on most of this stuff ive spared agianst really bulky muscular guys and i overpowerd them pretty easy even tho they prolly pench squat and deadlift way more than me being strong is a specific movement doesint mean ur strong in everything but if u combine gym and sports u can very strong btw im not saying this to rip on body builders i have respect for bodu builders this is towards the people who go to gym and think that bc they lift heavy circles that they're the strongest person around and are unstobable i myself have been beaten by ppl smaller and skinnier than me size and strength is not everything u need both technique and strength like for an example eddie hall the strongest man on the planet was hurt by a leg kick from a 9 year old boy who was around 30 40 kgs. the point is that ppl need to accept body builders and strong man are stronger in the gym and sometimes out of the gym but fighters are better at fighting if ur insacure abt not being big and mucley or not being able to fight just do both and if u cant stop complaining. this concludes my yap sesh
dont diss my boy mario

We understand that bodybuilding is not supposed to be trained for fighting but if you want to be in a bigger weight class in martial arts then you should do bodybuilding since it helps you gain muscle mass but you should also train your athleticism, strength and conditioning as well if you will be a fighter.
nah i agree with Mario on most things, also CBum is not aesthetic at all
