  • MOT is coming on the little Matiz and the brakes aren't all the good. I wouldn't normally video this but these aren't as straight forward as normal.
Here is how we did it.

I have to warn you that I have no formal automotive training, and have just learned by breaking stuff. If you can learn anything from my mistakes then great, but you do so at your own risk!

Nice video. I also have a question, whet torque do you appy to the hub/knuckle assemby? I had a bad experience with that as one new stud broke when I tightenend to 60 foo-pounds. I last tightenned them up to 70 foot-pound without a problem. Where do you get new original (not fake) ones? Do you ever change them when changing bearings? What is the spec of this studs as they have different markings from convetional ones, I only see the number 7 in the head so I do not have enough specs to buy a replacement innother brand. Best regards!

My bits came today so I fitted new wheel bearings and brake pads. I could not find the torque wrench settings you mentioned though?

The recommendation is the bearings should be changed also. AUTODOC are best price even after brexit I just purchased control arms, bearings, brake discs, hubs plus rear drum brakes and fitting kit. For more hard to find parts spare Korea that was the only place I could get the control arm inner bolts. I find parts for these in u.k. are more expensive that’s why I use a German based supplier.

Thanks. Yes, I got the nut from eBay but it was a long time ago and I can't find the seller, sorry. Might be worth trying AutoDoc? Good luck 🤞

I came here because I need to do a wheel bearing on mine. I was trying to pull off the outer part of the hub with a puller but of course it just pushes the driveshaft away. It does seem a lot of work but I suppose they were cheaper to make this way.

why on earth did you remove the whole steering knuckle?????????????
im guessing you dont have the proper technical knowledge!!!
even if you dont have the right tools you could use a rubber mallet and take the hub only with the disc !!!

      That's what I thought .
      Just undo to hub bolts

I think the bearings wear out quickly. how you put the hub back, the outer seal is loose. this is not right. you have to remove the bearing and the sealing ring from the hub and then mount it in the stub axle first and only then pull the hub in.
