Great result despite the pollution. It’s good news that IDAS are still breaking new ground. I feel sure that your work encourages them to try even harder. Yet another example of your ‘MAKING THE IMPOSSIBLE, POSSIBLE’

Cuiv, you give all of us in light polluted skies hope (I’m just outside of Manhattan). Just knowing it’s possible is all that matters in this hobby. Would it be possible for you to share the Pixel Math expression you used for increasing the brightness of the galaxy? You’ve become an astro-imaging ‘coach’….so, keep on motivating us.

Wow. Just wow. I wish that I were a tenth as good at image processing as Cuiv. I realize that it takes time and practice, but wow. I've got a truly dark sky (just above Bortle 1) and just imaged M81/M82 last week, and in comparison, well, ouch. I've got good data, and I love the act of being out at night and imaging the sky, but I don't enjoy the processing side at all.
(To be clear, I get that Cuiv is very good at this, that's why he has a channel. 🙂)

A very Impressive result from your location Cuiv. You have 'Jedi like' processing skills!. I noticed that you have a fat, straight USB cable connected to your camera. A thinner one with a right angled connection would allow a couple of extra photons to your mirror perhaps! :)

Nice Cuiv! Love it. I never get out of the city (Bortle 7 where I am) and have enjoyed doing the brighter galaxies M33, M51 and M81 with a cooled one shot colour camera. M31 is too big for the 533mc sensor at my f ratio and I'm not ready for mosaics. Now you got me planning a road trip! Your results are amazing, and the videos have great tips, but I want to say that you don't need to be as fussy and meticulous as you are to still get a big wow! out of it. I truly get that as each year comes round that wow will get progressively harder to find unless you get fussy, old man! 😜

Yes, you can do it using Sloan-i filter from Astrodon or Chroma. However, it will be very different to LTBR. You need to add narrow- band to NIR filter. High flying staff. 40-48+ hours for each galaxy.

Fantastic capture from Tokyo sky! It has lots of data with hard work. Just curious how long it took for WBPP in Pixinsight, assuming you used it for stacking the 1500 images. Or is it NINA stacking on the fly? Pardon my ignorance Cuiv (I am learning Astrophotography with ASIAir Plus).

Hey Cuiv, I have a question, do you know enough about how color calibration is made to answer this ? :
In siril, automatic color calibration put the background to grey, for me it shouldn't because the sky is blue, and I'm worried about the consequence of it.
I think it also take the star colors into account, though I'm not sure. What I do know is that this determines the color you end up with for nebulosity, in particular, galaxies.
I'm wondering if, because it put the background to grey, is could mess up the color calibration.
My reason for this is, I usually end up with more red/orange/ yellow than what I think it should.
For instance, M31 end up very orange, much more than what I see for instance with the last big hubble picture of it.
Now, there is also the lost blue dissipated in the atmosphere (making the sun appear yellow instead of white), so I'm not sure.
    Do you know anything ?

Awesome and interesting video Cuiv! I'm doing so in Mexico City just without an IDAS and yeah, I think it would make a huge difference if I get one. Btw I'm getting used to the noise and accepting there is no negotiation living in a big city. Yet we're at the forefront hahaha if we can get this in such places, everyone can 😆

I am like you Cuiv, in that I'm never quite satisfied with the end results, always feeling that it could be better. But that said, I think that your final image is truly Amazing considering the amount of light pollution you have to contend with, and how just 10 years ago, it would have been near impossible for an amature to capture that much data from a balcony in Tokyo. So ... Well done!
By the way, I wanted to ask you: I know you use NINA for plate solving, but is that the software you use for go-to control of your mount?
I have an Explore Scientific iEXOS-100 mount with PMC-Eight go-to control. It's a great little travel mount, but their software isn't really user friendly at all, and I would like to use something else. What would you suggest otherwise?
    Thanks Cuiv

truth is that I won't have the time to travel to do astro as most days I have to be up by 4:45 ... so I'll most likely buy the gnb and have it paired to my sv705 and thank the Lord for however few clear night I get... automation would be great so I'll build the autofocuser with belts and Arduino ...
