The argument is because form and style are getting mixed up lol there’s a proper form that’s general for Everyone but style and tempo are all relative.
There is an optimal "form"/technique to target a muscle or different regions/divisions (e.g. clavicular/sternal/costal pec or thoracic/lumbar/iliac lat), this is biomechanics. However, the style can individual in the sense that you might not be able to execute it biomechanically perfect due to e.g., mobility issues etc. Sensation can help to tweak a movement or a machine to target different areas (regional hypertrophy), but biomechanics (which inevitably is based on research) is universal for everyone and those rules cannot be changed (i.e., different sensation in different individuals doesn't change "biomechanical rules"). You can actually check the research on rest periods, which is basically more rest is needed for the nervous system to recover to enable maximal mechanical tension (i.e. the stimulus for hypertrophy). But doing more volume with shorter rest periods might compensate for that (e.g. Brad Schoenfelds studies with 1-2 minutes rest but 10-20 hard sets a week). If you rest more, you need fewer sets to reach the threshold of maximal stimulus/mechanical tension for hypertrophy. So in a sense, this might explain why a Jay/Fouad training style might yield similar/good results compared to Dorian/Iain/Justin
@@FouadAbiad it’s the same as is it a skill argument. Ronnie and Michael jordan say. Jordan can absolutely form squat just as good as Ronnie but Ronnie could never have the same skill to shoot a fade away jumper. Everyone is confusing the strength and sacrifice with the actual skill. Can jordan front squat 600lbs absolutely not but he’s also not eating 900 grams of carbs and on gear. Can he front squat with the same proper form as Ronnie absolutely that’s it that’s the skill is form not the weight that’s all relative. Does bodybuilding require way more mental toughness and sacrifices and what not absolutely but that’s not skill that’s person driven. Jordan can perform a perfect form deadlift but Ronnie would never be able to have the skill to shoot 90% from the free throw line that’s a way advanced skill.

It's so funny that you guys are talking about not adding money to the winner and giving the other competitors more money and right at this moment Arnold announces that the top prize for open is gonna be 300K, a 100k increase only for the winner 😅
Bodybuilders talking constantly about how unhealthy it is to be in the sport and competing for too long but pass up on an opportunity to make an extra 100k+ to help them retire earlier is the most confusing thing. Anybody in the top 10 could tear their ACL tomorrow and never place that high again.
@@92pittsburgsteelers of course. But the guys do a poor job of defining the parameters of their debates. What Justin and Iain are saying here is that by optimizing the control of your input allows them to accurately measure the output. So by standardizing -execution, tempo, rest periods, movement selection etc it can be directly measured into progress by weight on the bar and body weight accrument. And when you have that control a lack of progress is easier to analyze and diagnose. The missing context is that optimal training control (which can still be applied to high volume training) is only one variable in the overall goal of hypertrophy. Diet adherence, drugs, sleep quality, stress control and genetic component of each of those will end up having a way bigger impact on the outcome of a physique. But, like from Justin’s perspective, is that a good enough reason to not optimize your training?

@@92pittsburgsteelers I’ll definitely agree that iain was a bit inaccurate with that analogy, because there are tons of ways to train for any sport. But execution of your methods can still be optimized. Guys like wenning and ed and say chad Wesley smith might disagree on methods around periodization and even exercise selection but would come together on the nitty gritty of controlling for things like standardizing (your) execution and volume calculation to optimize progression and overload. Even if they would approach it differently.

On the argument, I’ve got a degree in exercise science and a masters in exercise physiology and just to clarify, there’s 100% differences between individuals in what particular training volume, intensity etc is most effective for a particular individual. There is definitely individuality in what is the optimal training style, intensity volume etc for the most muscle growth for a particular individual. However, Iain is defo correct in saying that we simply do not know the optimal style for one person as one size does not fit all. Obviously there is training variables that you can manipulate e.g. tempo and rest time to meet thresholds for certain mechanisms of Hypertrophy e.g. mechanical tension but studies have shown that for one individual a high volume, low intensity program produces greater gainz than a low volume high intensity program and visa versa
Click the link www.MAREKHEALTH.com/RBP and *use code 'RBP'* . Make sure you get your bloodwork done! Make sure you optimize your hormones and keep yourself healthy! These are the most important things for longevity and growth!
I see so many people use science as unchangeable fact when we have many examples of things was considered facts and today we believe something completely different and that is why there is not optimal way to train and personal experience is a big factor in what is optimal for u and I think ppl should try many training styles and find out through their experience what is optimal

I disagree @1:45:00. Ian saying there is a uniform/concrete way for pros to train in their respected sports isn’t necessarily true. Especially when he mentions track and field, Usain Bolt and Justin Gatlin did not train the same way. They both had different running styles even. Yes, In every sport, there are generalities that can get someone better, but once you get more advanced, every coach/athlete will have their own method that has worked for them.
Biggest upset should be positive in a way, you don’t give an award about a negative thing, « here’s a trophy you loser » seems weird and mean. For me biggest upset is either you deserved a better placing or you upseted a lot of people with your break through. It’s Derek, Samson, Krizo, Andrew…
I know I've already posted, but just wanted to chime in. Even in a sport like powerlifting, there are many different approaches such as conjugate etc. They all yield great results and they all have advantages and disadvantages. Dave Tate has spoken about this and has said that their is a lot of individuality in this. Even between natural and enhanced powerlifters, he said the approach to volume and load is different where he mentions that training with a much higher volume with lower intensity seems to benefit natural lifters a lot more than enhanced. I believe Iain is right in the sense that there is a most optimal way to train, but there almost certainly has to be more than one. It's just hard to gauge how many when we don't know how much individuality actually plays a part
We actually have guidelines for muscle hypertrophy. From a scientific perspective, the following guidelines have been shown to be effective for inducing muscle hypertrophy: Sets per week: 10-20 sets per muscle group per week Reps: 5-30 reps per set Proximity to failure: Training at or near(3-4reps) failure (the point at which you can no longer perform another rep with proper form) is necessary to induce muscle hypertrophy Frequency: Training each muscle group 2-3 times per week It's also important to note that progressive overload (i.e. gradually increasing the weight used or the number of reps performed) is crucial for continuing to induce muscle hypertrophy over time. So everyone that has not started using these guidelines have either done to much or done to little. Also we need to keep in mind that individuality matters and we might have people that might respond to 4-6 sets per muscle per week and people that might not respond to 20 sets per muscle per week(highly unlikely if the other points are meet). Another thing that we also know for a fact is that volume does matter as long as you recover from it. These guidelines are based on average people data which might not apply to high level bodybuilders especially because of the enhanced side of things and also because we deal with the elite of genetics which equates to either needing very little volume of being able to recover from a lot of volume. For the average person/bodybuilder the same guidelines should apply. You Fouad or Guy are probably part of the elite genetics that are able to tolerate shit load of volume whereas as Iain and Justin are on the other side and can get away with only 4-6 sets per week. The most important thing is form as this pertains to injury. For that we have clear data that sloppy form like Branch will more likely end up in a lot of injuries. I don't know if Branch experienced a lot of injuries as we also need to think that genetics play a very big role from this perspective also however for the average Joe the form of Branch will probably cripple more people than not. Hope this helps!
Love that you guys can have a serious argument, but not let it get too serious to the point that it isn’t fun

@@westendelite1 you're making a whole lot more sense than they were they seem kind of unreasonable with their method
I kept feeling like the argument was coming to a resolution, then I check the time stamp and I’m like “25 more minutes??? Really?!?” 😂
Love how Iain and Justin held their ground and argued with Fouad! I love everyone on the Podcast but sometimes Fouad can be a bully! Lol!
Yes. I am a bully! 😂. What?! We’re four grown men discussing something we love and all have different opinions.
If yu re-listen to the podcast I understood what Iain and Justin was saying but yu want to respond with yur view point so badly and prove yu are right yu never really listen to them! I think it is funny! Love yur podcast! Listening since 2020...I have re-watched so many since yu started! Keep them coming Fouad! Yes everyone knows yu are the Boss! Lol!!!
Yo Justin I thought that joke was hilarious “the lord prevails brother” 😅 made me lmao for minutes
33:26 Lol Guy called it they just raised 1st place to 300k

It's very random but my name is marek
I see so many people use science as unchangeable fact when we have many examples of things was considered facts and today we believe something completely different and that is why there is not optimal way to train and personal experience is a big factor in what is optimal for u and I think ppl should try many training styles and find out through their experience what is optimal
Fuad if you like Kevin Samuels content, I
Highly recommend reading the book the way of the superior man by David Deida. Understanding intergender dynamics in todays world is a really big plus especially if your a young kid looking for some sort of purpose in this world. 💪
I love that Fouad adding the hour long argument 😂 training always ruffles feathers and I love it.
Fouad and Guy are literally meatheads while justin and ian actually are progressing in their bodybuilding career.
No. Guy and Fouad are in their 40’s and have seen many different styles work for many different people.
This was an awesome debate! You guys kept a smile on my face the whole time! Thank you!
safe to assume nick is not coming back
Forget him it is just as good without him
I guarantee he will be back one day. He’s clearly still not happy with Fouad but I think they will sort it out in the future
He didn't add anything tbh
We’ve been safe to assume that for months lol
I think it’s a good assumption. I have friends here that care about me and like hanging out together. That’s what bro chat is about.
It’s not a popularity contest.
Don’t walk it back.. keep that same energy 😂
Guy called it, The Arnold’s increased the prize money.
Great podcast, thanks for keeping the 60 mins extra in. Kindest regards, Richard U.K
Great podcast! Glad you left it in. Those conversations are good to hear and informative. Also shows you guys are human, you know? Arguing, getting heated, talking through and resolve. Good shit fouad and company
Thank you Fouad and all BC/RBP members
Dude Justin’s face when guy made the car comparison 😂😂
When Fouad start doing “The Rock” eyebrow thing.. Everybody better get tf out the way.. 😂😂
That argument was stressful 🤣🤣🤣 what a great podcast. 👍
The BEST Podcast every time, this 4 is the MOST ENTERTAINING , FUNNIEST, HONEST, 4 Best Friend shooting the Sh-t….LOVE IT…Hosstile RULES.
Thank you for not deleting the argument. I made it through and took a lot of value from it. Keep up the good work guys!
We actually have guidelines for muscle hypertrophy.
From a scientific perspective, the following guidelines have been shown to be effective for inducing muscle hypertrophy:
Sets per week: 10-20 sets per muscle group per week
Reps: 5-30 reps per set
Proximity to failure: Training at or near(3-4reps) failure (the point at which you can no longer perform another rep with proper form) is necessary to induce muscle hypertrophy
Frequency: Training each muscle group 2-3 times per week
It's also important to note that progressive overload (i.e. gradually increasing the weight used or the number of reps performed) is crucial for continuing to induce muscle hypertrophy over time.
Lmfao when guy said “be a friend bro!”
Good mythical morning is very good 😂
Iain is such a good debater....I could have used him as a debate partner in college
Guy is the one in the group that texts his bros saying “Hiiiiiiii 😊” 😂😂😂😂
One of the best podcasts ever. Respectful friends have a great debate, it's candid, passionate and honest.
$300k for the Arnold is insane none of the top guys should be skipping it!
Iain is for sure never signing with hosstile after that argument 😂
😂😂😂 but we’ll always be friends.
Guy called it...prize money is 300k!
