    the crunch is probably the most overlooked tool in the leatherman line up but in actual fact I carry it everywhere, it's small and compact but I am forever finding uses for it. I have the charge TTI, Wave plus, skeletool and a number of others but I always reach for the crunch it really is one of the best multi tools out around!

    I wish leatherman makes a beefier version of the crunch. With some external accessible tools like an electrician blade and a file with a large flat driver.

    I sorta forgot the Crunch even existed and was blown away on how it actually folds that style of pliers in the handle.

    Just bought a Leatherman crunch and it is one of my favorite Leatherman multitool ever. I’m considering switching from my Leatherman wave since I got the pocket clip from hip clip!

    I've had a leatherman crunch for a long time and I love it. I added a pocket clip which makes it even better. I dont know if anyone knew but if you remove the screw all the way it has a bit adapter. Handy at times.

    • @Dragonrunner90
      @Dragonrunner90 3 роки тому +1

      I took the clip that was on a sidekick and had to make a hole in the side of the crunch as well as use the pivot screws from the sidekick to make it work but it does work pretty well.

    You didn't mention the hacksaw blade on the Kershaw. It came in handy when I was driving home with new wiper blades to put on my old Toyota SR8 and a sudden rainstorm came up. I had to cut a rusted screw off in order to be able to change the blade and continue home. Still, the design of the Crush is so neat I couldn't resist getting it when it came out, so I have both.

    Tools are so hard to design because you can't satisfy everyone's wants and needs. What you say would be better, like extending the crunch by 1/2" is a horrible idea to me because one of the best thing about the crunch is the compactness and I wouldn't even want another 1/4 inch added. Thanks for the review, it was informative

    Hi, i bought the ozark trail multiforce multitool. Are you going to revisit that tool. I absolutely love it for the price, except for the file. I really hope ozark trail starts to make more tools like those on the tools above and the surge. Lastely love your videos, glad your back 😃👍

    I have owned the Kershaw for over 20 years now and it's biggest draw back is the current purchase price, (if you can find one). I paid £50.00 for mine in 2000, that's about $75.00, but now the value is close to £200.00. This makes me think twice about using it, and so it is being replaced slowly by other tools.
    The Crunch appears to be silly money now as well.

  • @ajaxracing

    I like the needle nose better the lack of one hand opening on the crunch and the blade accessible from outside plus the extra lock to keep the pliers from opening up when clamped on really dig that a100 over the crunch

    Gerber also had a locking plier tool, the Grappler. I hope a subscriber can send you one for comparison and review. Great video as always. I do not have Crunch. The features do not appeal to me for what I need. Maybe if they made an updated version, a little larger, with outside blades and more tools, then I'd be more interested.

  • @informedcitizen8687

    As far as plier based multi tools the crunch is a standout. No other multi tool in the leatherman line up comes close in pure gripping power. When you lock on a nut or fastener its not releasing until you want it too. No other folding multi tool can match it.

    Just a quick FYI... Tim Leatherman got his start in knife engineering for Buck knives. Knife guys float around a lot especially at a bunch of the OR based companies like Kershaw, Buck, Leatherman, CRKT and Benchmade What I’m trying to say is don’t be surprised if you see some overlap in design. I don’t like the Kershaw version due to the pinch zone issue. Love my Crunch.

    The tool side of a Leatherman Crunch seems lacking, but as a compact locking pliers, it is significantly more useful that standard pliers on most multitools. Frankly most pliers on multitools are a compact hybrid design that not really suitable for bolts.
    I much prefer the Leatherman Crunch as a travel multitool. Works great with a solid multool like the swiss tool for the best of both worlds.

    The Kershaw jaws are ready for action when you pull it out of the pouch, but the Leatherman has to be unfolded to use the jaws. It's a pity Kershaw no longer makes the A 100.

      Actually if you have to pull jaws apart, the jaw spring is broke. The main fault of the Crunch. My replacement failed quicker than my original. If only you could replace that spring.

    Crunch is objectively better, but the Kershaw is so fucking pretty. seems like something out of metal gear

  • @CharlesLe-thephotographer
    @CharlesLe-thephotographer 4 роки тому +2

    It seems to me that the Kershaw is much inferior to the crunch. The primary function of these two tools is the locking pliers. The crunch's pliers are more capable and safer. The outside blade of the Kershaw is a nice feature but it's much too small anyway. You forget to mention that the Crunch has bit driver and it also has a inline cutout in its plier head that allows it to clamp down on saw blades securely. These two features trump the Kershaw's outside blade in terms of overall capabilities of the tool. Most people will also carry a longer pocket knife alongside anyway.

    • @southerncomfort7490
      @southerncomfort7490 3 роки тому +1

      I take your point Charles Le. if you also carry an additional knife then, yes, the Leatherman Crunch (a great bit of kit), is clearly better for you.
      However, if you only carry ONE then it is a different story. The Kershaw A100C gives you what you need, and not what you do not.
      After extensive use of both excellent tools I would say this (and my comments only apply if you carry them alone). The Crunch is good for suburban use for a middle-manager. The Kershaw A100C is different. That is designed for a man who engages is the rough and tumble of town and country and wants to come off best.
