Tracey Nix knew full well she wasn’t able to be responsible for her grandchildren. Yet she still kept taking care of them. Awful, arrogant, and selfish.
This is heartbreaking. My mom had undiagnosed early onset dementia and was very forgetful at age 67. She forgot my youngest was watching tv in the basement and told me he was playing outside. I had just come home from work and looked all around the neighborhood for him. I ended up calling the police, convinced my 4 year old had been kidnapped. Police questioned my mom and nothing clicked in her head that my son was in the basement. Long story short, while everyone was searching the neighborhood, my son ran upstairs. I fell to the floor in shock and relief. After that day, I forced my mom to go get checked out by her doctor. Never allowed her to babysit again . 😕 Maybe Tracey Nix has dementia or alzheimers..
That seems like an excuse , if she had signs of being forgetful her family would have noticed, just be talking to her and me being a grandma, wouldn't even trust myself if had done this before
@@Juke582 That's not what it's saying at all. They lost their first ch!ld due to profound negligence by the Grandmother, then handed their infant daughter to her. I put that on the parents.

Two times! Is she addicted to something? Why would you ask a person to babysit your child when she already killed one before by neglect. What's wrong with the parents?
What completely unavoidable errand on the part of the baby's mother could have possibly necessitated leaving a second child with a parent who it unfortunately has been proven by a life-ending tragedy CANNOT - be it due to dementia or alcoholism or whatever, be entrusted with the care and life of a small child?
@@angelalalley7593 Figures. I thought perhaps it was a selfish endeavor that could have been postponed until she found a reliable caregiver - a spa day with friends, brunch, shopping, etc. I think this qualifies Mommy as negligent in her second child's death.
Why isn’t nobody talking about the irresponsible parents.? After the first child died the parents still allowed the grandma to babysit? People are so blind nowadays. Throw the parents in jail too .
If not culpable negligence, then possibly early onset dementia is all I can come up with. Considering how this wasn't the first time a toddler died while under her care, it must have been one hell of an important hair appointment for the daughter.
Just because someone is there (physically present) at the house (if he was even there when she left the baby) doesn't mean they have been given that responsibility. Seems like he didn't even know the baby was in the car earlier than he did. I'm pretty sure he would have gotten her out especially seeing as what had already happened with her brother 😩 Also, it was said she hadn't been watching her because of that incident and she was only mom's "emergency babysitter" for her hair appointment. So one would think he wouldn't have expected her to be there either 😏
If he knew his wife was sitting for the baby, he could take responsibility as an extra set of eyes/hands. The other sister had left her 5 year old there with the Grandparents and he was running wild unsupervised!
@ yes he did. IF he STAYED in the house, then HE would also be charged with neglect; im talking about the FIRST accident, not the second one of course.
Well she had early onset alsheimers likely and it happens and the person is unaware their brain deteriorates! Wild is perhaps wrong word and you are uneducated or just sarcastic! This is a tragedy all around here!
It seems to me that the parents of the baby want to get rid of their children , bc how can you trust someone to watch ANOTHER child of yours when they’ve killed the first one ? That doesn’t make any sense , no GOOD parent would ever entrust someone after their kid died on their watch . There’s something off here
So WRONG the jury won’t be told about the other grandchild who died in her care within the same year! 😡 If Nix gets acquitted, when the jury finds out about that first death, they’ll feel absolutely miserable that justice wasn’t served.
Because the defense successfully argued that it would prejudice the jury more than inform them. (I don’t agree, but that’s probably why the judge excluded it. Also, prosecutors cannot admit evidence if prior crimes if it goes to character.
This is terrible, she will be found not guilty bcs her negligence in the first death is not allowed to be presented to the jury. This is a waste of everyone’s time.
Maybe I'm on my own but I cannot believe that this was an intentional act. It makes zero sense to deliberately kill a baby this way. Taking the other 'killing' into consideration I can only think there is something seriously wrong with this woman. I don't know if she has cognitive issues or she has some kind of personality disorder but I am astounded the parents let her babysit again after the first death. I'm not saying that was deliberate either but surely that death proved she has issues.
I REALLY REALLY think it's unfair that the jury doesn't get to hear about previous death. I don't think she did it intentionally (like S Boone), but for fairness, nothing should be hidden like that. After this is over and jury hears about that, they will be upset. This is a tough case because I'm a Grama it breaks my heart. But something has to be wrong mentally (dementia?) wrong with her. I don't know is I think she should go to jail because she WILL suffer already forever, but man... tough case. Curious to hear how her daughter feels about this, that is what would sway my opinion. 😢so awful all the way around.
I’m a grandma, and this is unfathomable to me. I’m MORE careful with my grands than I was with my own kids, and I was very careful with them. If the first one was an accident, she should never have agreed to do it again with any other. And the mother?! She ought to be charged with neglect. You don’t leave your kids with negligent people. (Aside from naming her kid Uriel, wtf?) But I am suspicious that this is more than negligence. Fool me once..this is very possibly deliberate. Not manslaughter, but murder.
Jury made a horrible decision based on lack of knowledge and frankly buying the defendant’s ridiculous performance and the “poor grandma” notion. Notice that grandma had TWO of her daughter’s children die on her watch and within one year. Both incidents happened right before major holidays - that is a major tell to me. The idea this happened just “accidentally” - TWICE IN A YEAR RIGHT BEFORE MAJOR HOLIDAYS - is astronomically unlikely. Any grandparent who had a child drown on their watch a few days before Christmas less than twelve months before would be hyper concerned about an infant in their care; however Grandma “forgets” this infant despite the diaper bags and food etc in front of her for hours. Frankly I think she is a sociopath, and possibly a serial type. Child one…maybe an accident but inexcusable - second child in a year?! I’m sorry but that’s deliberate. Jury didn’t know about baby one, and that’s tragic.
It makes me crazy when they exclude evidence. I was on a jury and voted not guilty for the defendant. The prosecution was pressing charges because the person that it affected did not want to press charges. After the trial I found out he was in jail already for a different crime. If I would have known that,it may have affected my vote. I can’t say that it would have or not, but to excluding evidence does not give a juror the full picture.
“If I would have known that it may have affected my vote.” That’s the reason right there why lawyers ask for prejudicial evidence to be withheld, they want an impartial jury.
How are they leaving out the death of the first grandchild. The system is screwed up!! The truth needs to be told. These jurors are going to be pist. She should take her jail sentence. She's evil she belongs in jail and shouldn't want a trial. I pray someone on the jury can see through this cereal killer. She's probably jealous of her daughter for some reason.
How do these things keep happening !!?? I don't understand ? This Happens way too often ! Who leaves a little child in a hot car !? The thought of what he went thru that last hour is unthinkable !!! Smh 👎 I don't get it ? How are people so reckless
Look it up, in some cases it’s negligent and it other cases it’s literally life being so overwhelming or a change in the routine that causes the brain to do strange things. I don’t think it could ever happen to me but it could literally happen to anyone. Look it up. It’s crazy what our brain can do.
Question? How could a grandmother who was so attentive during the luncheon could have "quickly" forgotten a baby that was in her custody? Also after the discovery, the grandfather performed CPR while the grandmother left because she could not stomach what had happened. ?????
Hopefully at least one person on the jury breaks the rules and finds out about the first grandchild!! otherwise they're just going to say it was a terrible accident. This is crazy. What's wrong with the daughter??
I would not have left the 2nd child alone with grandma for any length of time. I'm sorry but that is an extremely hard lesson to learn for the grandmother and mother and neither learned from the first experience.
I'm sorry if someone forgot about my child and they drown.. that person would never be qualified in my mind to ever watch any of my other children again.

“Forgetful grandma” is such a manipulative title.
It’s the second child that’s died in the space of a year under her care…
“She called her mother. Who else would you call”
Perhaps someone different than the person responsible for my first child’s death.
People don’t trust stranger babysitters anymore! Poor risk here though with impaired family 🙄 I guess the had no siblings to babysit?
These parents are at fault also. Knew the grandmom was irresponsible. She neglected one but you gave her anorher SO YOU CAN GET YOUR HAIR DONE. Unacceptable all the way around.
Poor babies. Failed by everyone
All the Bible study and church going is not bringing this poor child back.
Exactly.
The parents are guilty at this point 😢
Tracey Nix knew full well she wasn’t able to be responsible for her grandchildren. Yet she still kept taking care of them. Awful, arrogant, and selfish.
The fact that she’s taking this to trial shows this is malice at this point.
And her daughter kept asking.
Maybe Tracey Nix has dementia or alzheimers..
Yes….surely her attorney and the state had her evaluated prior to this trial?
That's what I was thinking too. My grandma was about that age as well. She didn't make it very long after she was first showing signs.😢
She's been tested nothing wrong with her apart from not loving her family enough to care.
She had alsheimers instead! Duh 🙄 look it up!
@@LucasMoore88 I'm so sorry
Why would her mom trust her mom, id have grandma checked for dementia
That seems like an excuse , if she had signs of being forgetful her family would have noticed, just be talking to her and me being a grandma, wouldn't even trust myself if had done this before
I suspect the same or Alzheimer's
Menopause can make you forgetful too.

I actually blame the parents more than the Grandmother to be honest.
Yup!💯✅
I blame all 3 they all act odd but the grandma takes the biscuit.
No way! That’s like saying it’s okay to be negligent and cause death! Bullcrap!
@@Juke582 That's not what it's saying at all. They lost their first ch!ld due to profound negligence by the Grandmother, then handed their infant daughter to her. I put that on the parents.
If this grandmother actually killed another child before because of negligence. Then why would ANY person EVER especially her own daughter leave a child in her care EVER again.
Why not plead guilty and avoid the public humiliation.
Most importantly avoid the trial for the parents that have to go through the trial and autopsy pictures, testimony, etc.
She’s not just forgetful! This is an example of her true nature.
Two times! Is she addicted to something? Why would you ask a person to babysit your child when she already killed one before by neglect. What's wrong with the parents?
Ambien the zombie drug!
OMG! After the first child died! I wouldn’t have left another child in her care! Give her life in prison with no possibility of parole!
There's something going on here. 2 babies within 1 yr? Forgetful isnt the word to describe her...She needs to be locked up.
The 2nd time , she'd been with the baby to a 'girls lunch'. Day drinking ??
2 babies in 1 year not 3
@@Gabriel-hf1yy Thanks!
@@sarahholland2600 Drinking or a mental issue.
@@lizzierose007 Drinking was my first thought.
What completely unavoidable errand on the part of the baby's mother could have possibly necessitated leaving a second child with a parent who it unfortunately has been proven by a life-ending tragedy CANNOT - be it due to dementia or alcoholism or whatever, be entrusted with the care and life of a small child?
Daughter's hair.
@@angelalalley7593 Figures. I thought perhaps it was a selfish endeavor that could have been postponed until she found a reliable caregiver - a spa day with friends, brunch, shopping, etc. I think this qualifies Mommy as negligent in her second child's death.
I'm sorry but Grandma wouldn't be watching any more of my children after what happened to my other child! No way!!!
Alzheimer’s as she was fired for forgetfulness! That’s not dementia! Look
It up
Grandpa was also there for both deaths, why isn't he held responsible too?
Just because someone is there (physically present) at the house (if he was even there when she left the baby) doesn't mean they have been given that responsibility. Seems like he didn't even know the baby was in the car earlier than he did. I'm pretty sure he would have gotten her out especially seeing as what had already happened with her brother 😩
Also, it was said she hadn't been watching her because of that incident and she was only mom's "emergency babysitter" for her hair appointment. So one would think he wouldn't have expected her to be there either 😏
If he knew his wife was sitting for the baby, he could take responsibility as an extra set of eyes/hands. The other sister had left her 5 year old there with the Grandparents and he was running wild unsupervised!
She’s responsible for two dead kids and l really don’t think they were accidentally.
NOPE NOPE NOPE I WOULDNT FORGET MY PET IN A CAR NOPE
HINT: the grandfather LEFT the loose toddler in the house with his wife asleep. why is HE not being charged also????
Where was he? Wife asleep & toddler loose: and he just left?!
😂😂😂 No he didn't. Did you even watch the video. Or do you just get off on making dumb things up.
@ yes he did. IF he STAYED in the house, then HE would also be charged with neglect; im talking about the FIRST accident, not the second one of course.
@@sarahholland2600 he went to walmart!!!
@@Lauren-vd4qe Wow. This case is unbelievably sad.
How did this woman’s own children survive her, what seems to be, at best, sheer incompetence?
Maybe onset alsheimers in her 60’s is cause and certainly the zombie drug Ambien!!! Tgat which wasn’t present as a young mother before! Duh 🙄
Miss Nix was my fourth grade teacher. This is wild.
What was her personality like?
You’re lucky she wasn’t your grandmother
Well she had early onset alsheimers likely and it happens and the person is unaware their brain deteriorates! Wild is perhaps wrong word and you are uneducated or just sarcastic! This is a tragedy all around here!
@Juke582 wild is used here to mean "shocking" or "unbelievable" chill out. I support her
It seems to me that the parents of the baby want to get rid of their children , bc how can you trust someone to watch ANOTHER child of yours when they’ve killed the first one ? That doesn’t make any sense , no GOOD parent would ever entrust someone after their kid died on their watch . There’s something off here
Both of her grandchildren gone under her watch!!!!!!! I felt so bad about the totality of the tragedy but 2 grandkids!!!!!!!!! wtf
So WRONG the jury won’t be told about the other grandchild who died in her care within the same year! 😡
If Nix gets acquitted, when the jury finds out about that first death, they’ll feel absolutely miserable that justice wasn’t served.
It would definitely have an impact on their verdict.
MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!💯💯💯💯
They probably know from prior news reports or friends, but the court will not allow them to use the first death in their opinion…..wink, wink.
So I guess you also don't believe in the Constitution... Nice 👀🤦😬
@@dennisshaw4112😂😂😂 That's illegal half-wit. They can't know or it's a hung jury. What an idiot.
The fact the first child’s passing not permissible in court is absurd, jury NEEDS to know this is a pattern!
How is the past incident not admissible 😢
Laws have been rewritten to protect criminals.
That alone would make a difference in jury’s decision, they should take a look @the 1st death
Because criminals have more rights then poor victims
SO... I guess no one here believes in the Constitution...👀🤦Yikes 😬
It’s prejudicial duh.
why would they keep the drowning of the other child out?
Because it's prejudicial and she wasn't charged with a anything in that instance... It was ruled an accident. It's the law. 😊
Because the defense successfully argued that it would prejudice the jury more than inform them. (I don’t agree, but that’s probably why the judge excluded it. Also, prosecutors cannot admit evidence if prior crimes if it goes to character.
Because it was ruled out as accidental because of the laws in Florida. They should still bring it up though!
WTF, do I get it right? TWO children died in here care???
1 is an accident. 2 is a pattern.
💯
Omg 2 in her care? I couldn't live with myself. Plead giulty ffs.
This is terrible, she will be found not guilty bcs her negligence in the first death is not allowed to be presented to the jury. This is a waste of everyone’s time.
This person needs to be in prison to keep children safe.
I agree. I can't fathom. There has to be something more seriously wrong with her, I sure can't guess what at this point.
This lady had too much going on she should not have been watching children
I need to know was she evaluated for drugs, alcohol, dementia etc because I just can't get my head around this. 🤯
Why would you ever trust her again after son’s death??? She needs lots of prison time.
By law it wasn’t prosecuted as a prior bad act related so can’t be used against her!
(Aside from naming her kid Uriel, wtf?)
But I am suspicious that this is more than negligence.
Was she offered a plea deal? And if so, why didn't she take it instead of torturing her family even more and wasting public money?
It makes me crazy when they exclude evidence. I was on a jury and voted not guilty for the defendant. The prosecution was pressing charges because the person that it affected did not want to press charges. After
the trial I found out he was in jail already for a different crime.
@ they are not giving you the whole picture by excluding evidence and that is wrong.😑
GMA has to have memory issues.

She should take her jail sentence. She's evil she belongs in jail and shouldn't want a trial. I pray someone on the jury can see through this cereal killer. She's probably jealous of her daughter for some reason.
That case wasn’t prosecuted so wasn’t a prior bad act by law that could be used here! Duh 🙄

Drugs, alcohol, and selfishness
Look it up, in some cases it’s negligent and it other cases it’s literally life being so overwhelming or a change in the routine that causes the brain to do strange things. I don’t think it could ever happen to me but it could literally happen to anyone. Look it up. It’s crazy what our brain can do.

Question? How could a grandmother who was so attentive during the luncheon could have "quickly" forgotten a baby that was in her custody? Also after the discovery, the grandfather performed CPR while the grandmother left because she could not stomach what had happened. ?????
Ambien the zombie drug can really do this!
All terrible people, who should have never been in charge of taking care of children.
The same parents lost two children??
The same grandmother?
For real?
If this jury does not convict they are going to be sick with themselves.
Only problem is the jury is not allowed to hear anything about the first grandchild that d*ed while in grandma's care.
I think the parents left the kid with her on purpose knowing she killed the first child in the pool
I believe it was a pond not a pool
the mom should be charged for something for letting her mother care for her daughter after she knew her mom did this once already
Agree.
Hopefully at least one person on the jury breaks the rules and finds out about the first grandchild!! otherwise they're just going to say it was a terrible accident. This is crazy. What's wrong with the daughter??
And that’s how you get a mistrial.
I don't think information should ever be left out of a case jury needs all info not some .
😂😂😂 It's called the Constitution. Read it.
possibly culpable negligent homicide thenif she was so dangerous why we're both daughter's letting her babysit
Right
I would not have left the 2nd child alone with grandma for any length of time. I'm sorry but that is an extremely hard lesson to learn for the grandmother and mother and neither learned from the first experience.
Why is she and her lawyer blurred
I'm sorry if someone forgot about my child and they drown.. that person would never be qualified in my mind to ever watch any of my other children again.
Guilty! Send her to prison.
I think they should let the jury know about the brother. perhaps grandma has a hidden evil side.
