This is a show and tell video.I'm explaining the difference between these two products, when used for cabinet door's.The quality and appearance of both.
I just purchased a home and I'm trying to save the thermofoil mdf cabinet doors. They are currently white and the glue is gone in most places exposing the mdf under the thermofoil. I have been told to do it two different ways. 1. Use a heat gun and remove the thermofoil, sand the mdf, clean it, prime the doors, then use an oil based paint with the color of my choice to finish the job. I wasn't too happy with this result (Tired only on one door). 2. Keep the thermofoil on, use epoxy sealant to fill the areas where thermofoil broke off, sannd, dust, and clean. Followed by priming and then painting with color of my choice. I haven't tried this method yet, because something doesn't add up to me. Painting over thermofoil makes no sense to me, then again I'm not an expert I just feel the paint won't stick. Any suggestions?
if I have thermofoil which I do and hate it but the prior homeowners were cheap bastards. anyway can I take it off and replace with formica on the MDF I have already? or do you have to replace it all? I can't afford to replace my kitchen just yet
