This group. You guys. You introduced DND to me way back with lightfall. Ive watched and laughed, cried, cheered, gone through all sorts of emotions and been absolutely inspired by how you play the game, how you role play, how you dm, how you interact with each other and incorporate your characters and the world together to create these amazing moments and epic stories. This isnt an RPG that you guys are playing, its a story, it has ups and downs and it just brings out the best of you guys, and has really made me realize what was missing in my own life. Even before covid, things had been up and down for me, but watching you guys brought me over the hurdle to get those 3 books, and i started my own path as a dm and introducing my friends to DND. And honestly, i dont see myself having had the will to push through the hard times if it werent for this amazing collaborative story telling that comes from DND. And when i havent had the opportunity to play, either because the motivation got lost, or lockdown comes and goes, leaving life in the worst up and down spiral. There was always one place I knew i could come to and find that missing something. And that was here. Watching you and living through Aerois with you guys. I dont have the opportunity or the privelage to watch live, time zones and all, and selfishly i cant support you guys financially. But I just wanted to share how much this group and this game means to me. And I am absolutely hyped to see whats coming, with the final act of Aerois and what plans you all have for the future. Thanks High rollers. Thanks Mark, Kim, Trott, Katie, Tom and Rhi. Clear Skies!
The voice Tom uses for advertisement is so soothing, I could listen to it for ages. I wish it was my internal monologue voice, I'd never have anxiety again
I genuinely wish i could find a DM and group like this. With this level ofemotional investment and willingness to immerse. I have only ever been able to get into rubbish groups or "roll play" groups as a player or have to be the eternal DM 😢
I didnt find my group even for one game I’m too scared to gm but the worst is that my friends dont know how fun dnd is but all they thing is that I would make them puppets in my hands sadly I hope one day I will get a game in DnD
I realise you write this as some form of praise to high rollers but reading this I can't help but think you're part of the problem. Maybe you put too high standards on your group? Maybe you aren't clear about your expectations before you start a campaign? Saying "everyones rubbish but me" isn't exactly a healthy way to deal with finding a better dnd experience.
@@onemadshrimp4812 No actually I've been immensely clear in my expectations as both a DM and perspective player every time to no avail. Your blame shifting is noted and unappreciated though 🙃
I absolutely love this podcast I watched the aerois podcast from the beginning and I'm blown away by the amazing collection of emotions, challenges, and drama that it all entails. I can't wait to see it through. And I also can't wait for more adventures to come.
Watched this live and really loved it. Comment for the algorithm here! I can't wait for the final arc, I'm really excited to see what you do with the Gods' demi planes
Part of what i Like allot about High Rollers, and what i dislike about Critical Role. Is that the level of quality with HR is very high, but it still feels like a home game with some mates. CR can (to me) sometimes feel too much like a production and over the top with their Set, Studio, mini's, Battlemaps etc etc. And although i often enjoy watching them play as well. It's still something that just doesn't feel as fun. When i watch HR i feel like i am at the table, as if Mark can ask me any moment what i want to do on my turn. I don't have that feeling with CR, as fun as they are. You guys are more fun to me. More relatable as well, and more achievable (in some sense) as a game style and vibe i can achieve at my own tabletop games. Thought about writing this comment when Mark brought up the studio topic around the 3hour point, i hope you guys wont go over the top. Though of course if you guys want that, i'm not gonna stop you ;) Really think you guys are great. And i should really get of my lazy bum and donate some time, or buy some merch ;), i have been silently enjoying your streams since early Lightfall, watched everything since.
I love the fact that Rhi does EXACTLY what I do when I DM. I CONSTANTLY intersperse the word 'like' in everything I say, just to try and give my brain time to catch up with my mouth. 🤣 I love every single one of these people, but if someone put a gun to my head, I'd be hard pushed to choose between Rhi and Kim as my favourite. 😁
You know, I started listening to Aerois at a point in my life when I was working a horribly draining job, and driving over an hour just to get there. Every episode was something to look forward to, and a lot of times it was the only thing that got me through my day. I can’t express enough how much I love the world you all have made, and the characters in it. I used to pass time imagining my own characters I would play in it. Aerois has inspired my own concepts in world building for my own settings. You guys are awesome, and I hope you never forget it.
The over powered characters not being able to be interesting seems to be more how it’s approached rather then a rule. I think you guys can keep your characters interesting. And some people just might not find that idea as cool and that’s fine.
Such a heartwarming group and Q&A. I truly love these people & this group. Found family at its best! And what an awe inspiring story they crafted with Aerois thus far. Goddamn... Roll on Sunday!
I finally caught up 💁🏽♀️ I've had a brilliant time watching Aerois, so many laughs, tears and shocks. I cannot wait to watch whatever comes next. Thank you all for sharing this game with us x
I've finally caught up, and am so hyped for this final arc, Mark if you see this, you've been the inspiration I needed to start DMing myself, and I have my session 0 next weekend. Thank you, good luck and clear skies
Not to be overly gushing, but Aerois has been a core part of my life for so many years, and I am so grateful. To Mark and the party, thank you. Thank you Mark for birthing this world, and thank you to you all for traveling through it in such a funny, emotionial, and epic way. I think the sheer timescale of a DnD campaign gives it an emotional weight. This is episode 122 effectively, and even though I have watched on 1.5x speed, that means I have been watching this campaign for (*worridely glances at calculator*) around 244 hours = roughly 10 full days of my life... and I wouldn't have missed a moment. I began watching Aerois when I was 18, applying for universities and what-not. Since then, my life has taken many twists and turns, I have ended up in situations that i could never have concieved, yet Aerois has provided as massive constant throughout this. It may be worth noting that at the time of writing I am almost a year behind! I won't give you my autobiography, but all this is just to say to Mark and the team (big up Hat Films btw, how I found High Rollers) THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for the Aerois campaign and the High Rollers crew thereafter. Thank you
I was thinking, I just skip through the interesting questions. Turns out don't have to skip hardly at all. Very interesting and emotional episode without any playing. Really liked it
Don't say its gonna end ;( This is the only DnD Show I'm still following. It's basically my "adult" version of a good night story. Always listening to it for a bit before going to sleep. Anyway I hope for a new campaign that's equally enjoyable!
From what Mark has been talking about on twitter, only fun and exciting things are going to happen with the end of this campaign and the start of the new one.
I tried doing that too, watching a little bit before bed, but then I can’t put my phone down because I *NEED* to know what happens next. And then it results in me staying up super late 😊
Aerois has meant alot to me When my playgroup started a Ravenloft game and characters could be from anywhere I made a Half-Wild Elf Valor Bard named Skari I love him using an Instrument of the Bards to cast shillelagh to whoop people with his bandore He has been looking for his two lost party members A Guardian Shepherd Druid named Gardener And a Halfling Gunslinger named Wren "What is that giant egg in the sky? Wheres the Cradle?" Party: "thats the Moon" Came from Idle Champions and loved every minute
Party boards the Ravenloft/Eberron Doomtrain "So... this thing is like an airship... but it goes along the land like a cart... this place is weird" Party aproaches a desert caravan surrounded by three silent golems "Oh hey! Some Guardians!" Runs up to them, waving like a doofus "have you seen a Guardian named Gardener around? They kind of have a tree growing on them full of squirrels" "Skari... those are golems... they dont talk. They arent people..." "How dare you"
Oh man, can you imagine growing up seeing the cradle your entire life, knowing it as Siaska’s final sacrifice/protection for the world, and then coming to a world/realm without the cradle? Bet that was a bit of a shock. :)
@@suntiger745 it was indeed He legit would not believe he wasnt on Aerois at first until the party made him look at the night sky Alot of his spells have a visual effect similar to the Cradle Hypnotic Pattern causing a rainbow aurora Dimension Door surrounding him and ally with "Cradle fog" for an instant Mirror Images shattering into starry mist.
@@suntiger745 thats not even getting into the Mirror Image backup + Major Image light show + Minor Illusion sound amplify Enhanced full blown rock concerts (Yes they all stack, only Major Image is concentration)
And there you see it can be critical role or high rollars or our own game. It can be a way to explore ourselves and it can be therapeutic. Such. A. Game.
I have to agree with some of the comments on here. I truly wish that I could find a group that invests themselves as much as this. I love listening to Katie and Mark explaining that they make characters that they can’t be in real life and that they wish they could be, because I get that on an unreal level. I remember my very first character, and I made her to be everything I wish that I could be. And I never got to truly play her the way that I wanted to because my group doesn’t get heavy into role-playing. It’s more like they simply play themselves on a piece of paper. And that’s not quite the same as being as invested in their characters as this amazing group is.
OMG!!! Tom, you have to run a Artificer/Forge Cleric. Its the best. The absolute best. Personally, I prefer Artillerist, but Armorer works really well in the combo also.
Is chaos twins not a thing any more? I am honestly surprised that they haven't done anything with FInal Fantasy 14 for it since it could literally just be them goofing around together
I'm really looking forward to their next campaign and what type of characters and journeys they will be going on. I love seeing how people create their characters and what the campaign will be about!
Returning to watching Aerois after a whole year-long pause. Started with rewatching some of my favourite episodes (like Praxis Valla, Moving on Up etc) and I'm overpowered with memories and feelings of this *clearly* greatest TTRPG campaign i know to date that is released online. This weekend I'm gonna also DM a mini-series for my friends set in Aerois's Cloudgarden. My own story, timeline wise not related to the campaign, but it feels like such an honour to play in the world of Mark Hulmes. ❤ I can't wait
@02:29:10 Going off of what Katie was saying, it's okay to have a character that isn't well liked in the beginning of a larger story; it gives them a place to grow from. Aila is standoffish in the beginning because she's only really ever had herself to look after or trust. The world is vicious. She didn't have a family or a network of friends to rely on. Not only that, she was part of a race of people that were tribalistic and viewed in a negative light. Aila (and concurrently Katie apparently with her mental health) had the weight of the world on her shoulders; it makes sense for her to be the way she was. For example: I didn't really like Gamora at the start of Guardians of the Galaxy, but the more of her story we got and the more she was able to grow, the better she became! The same could be said for Thor. Hell even in FF14 the same could be said for Gaius. There's examples of this all across great literature and media.
3:08:55 "end of the year Aerois will probably be at the point were it's coming to an end" The guess was a little off. I am not sure if 161 was the last episode, but the title makes me doubt it
I so wish I had people to play d and d with I've never played before but watching you guys has been amazing the lore and comedy you guys have is on a different level. I completely blame yous for me now seeing myself as a big fan of d and d not that im complaining 😁
Good Q&A, I agree, even with me working from home since August 2003, with the COVID restrictions, not being able to see my family and friends on the weekend really affected me, I started to view D&D on You Tube as I worked to see people, I 1st found Critical Role then HR and fell in love with both, I only watched the Aerois campaign but loved the different style and setting developed by Marc, and really liked each players. I even continued playing D&D 3.5 with my players, my son and wife and my twin brother and his son via Skype to be able to see people during COVID. I started playing D&D 2nd edition back in 1985 and started DMing for my family about 2-3 years ago I like it but I miss not knowing what is coming. My high level campaign of 3.5 will restart our game hopefully before the end of 2021, I miss playing my 27 lvl Paladin. I started my game with my family at level 1 so quite a difference.
"oh man our own studio is end game ages away" * Looks at the newest episodes and the funding campaign * Nice 😎 Also end of 2021 as end of campaign HA I laugh from the future 😂
I just caught up and finished this video and I have to ask. Will you be working with anyone to make a source book for this amazing world you’ve made? I know it’s unlikely but wasn’t sure if anyone else was asking. Love the campaign and how you guys play can’t wait for more 😊
So let my blind ass put it to you like this.. I adore you guys the players and the characters in this campaign :-) I love lightfall and I love the little mini series that have been done and I love Mark's work on evening star. Can't wait to see the rest of this campaign and very excited for campaign 3. The fan art that I was able to see with my vision was excellent and really cool and there's a couple that really stood out to me that I could see fairly easily there's one of ourville day guests probably explain that wrong cuz I'm using talk to text and one of Nova and vala where our favorite Medusa is holding Nova's cheeks I believe. Granted there's plenty of artwork that with my vision and how my vision works I wasn't able to see clearly but there is so much of it that was super enjoyable :-). So thank you to all the other fans who provide such super awesome art to paint pictures in my mind with along with the amazing narratives that you the cast with your characters and your respective unique personalities bring to the mindscape :-). Keep up the awesome work and I look forward to much more! Hugs and kisses from humid and hot Florida :-)

Is there going to be a poll to create some players in the form of guardians? Like from my count there is 11 months to go before the invasion begins. In that time in the background in the labs of gusthaven could they be making the gen of guardians with new bodies so sentry can give the body a soul? I haven’t watched the stream yet so idk if this answer is asked or not, but I’ve created half of the Greek pantheon into guardians and I would I could like send it over one of them like a pdf to somewhere or I’ll just put the full Description, gear, points, spells, etc for at least one of the creators I’ve created and with so much time you could do one really amazing Guardian or 60 above average guardians per month before the invasion. I’ll watch the stream first then I’ll make edits

I didnt find my group even for one game I’m too scared to gm but the worst is that my friends dont know how fun dnd is but all they thing is that I would make them puppets in my hands sadly I hope one day I will get a game in DnD
I think you folks would like joining the highrollers discord. There are a lot of cool like-minded folks on there to find games with.
Though of course if you guys want that, i'm not gonna stop you ;)
Really think you guys are great.
And i should really get of my lazy bum and donate some time, or buy some merch ;), i have been silently enjoying your streams since early Lightfall, watched everything since.
The recap reminded me of drunk friends remembering the good old days 😂
Trott’s commentary on his role playing was a joy to listen to… he rp’s at an extremely high level.
For me it is Rhi and Trott
You know, I started listening to Aerois at a point in my life when I was working a horribly draining job, and driving over an hour just to get there. Every episode was something to look forward to, and a lot of times it was the only thing that got me through my day. I can’t express enough how much I love the world you all have made, and the characters in it. I used to pass time imagining my own characters I would play in it. Aerois has inspired my own concepts in world building for my own settings. You guys are awesome, and I hope you never forget it.
Only High Rollers could get me to cry during a Q&A video. Tysm!!!
The over powered characters not being able to be interesting seems to be more how it’s approached rather then a rule. I think you guys can keep your characters interesting. And some people just might not find that idea as cool and that’s fine.
Dude I'm at work and Katie breaking down a lil I felt that and now I'm crying thx
Such a heartwarming group and Q&A. I truly love these people & this group. Found family at its best! And what an awe inspiring story they crafted with Aerois thus far. Goddamn... Roll on Sunday!
my shattered feels aren't prepared for the end of this campaign
I discovered this group and channel about 3 weeks ago and binged this entire campaing up until now... and now I don't want it to end
Kim: I wanna be a big magical cat.
A few years later…
“Yes, hellow, I am Gruff, I am from the village of Tremorrow…”
Thank you
Finally finished binging 120 episodes and they're all going on vacation 😭
The campaign 3 hint really panned out.
Altheya: The DRAGON Empire
And the Proto-Magi Vaults (dungeons)
Aerois has meant alot to me
When my playgroup started a Ravenloft game and characters could be from anywhere
I made a Half-Wild Elf Valor Bard named Skari
I love him using an Instrument of the Bards to cast shillelagh to whoop people with his bandore
He has been looking for his two lost party members
A Guardian Shepherd Druid named Gardener
And a Halfling Gunslinger named Wren
"What is that giant egg in the sky? Wheres the Cradle?"
Party: "thats the Moon"
Came from Idle Champions and loved every minute
Party boards the Ravenloft/Eberron Doomtrain
"So... this thing is like an airship... but it goes along the land like a cart... this place is weird"
Party aproaches a desert caravan surrounded by three silent golems
"Oh hey! Some Guardians!" Runs up to them, waving like a doofus
"have you seen a Guardian named Gardener around? They kind of have a tree growing on them full of squirrels"
"Skari... those are golems... they dont talk. They arent people..."
"How dare you"
Oh man, can you imagine growing up seeing the cradle your entire life, knowing it as Siaska’s final sacrifice/protection for the world, and then coming to a world/realm without the cradle?
Bet that was a bit of a shock. :)
@@suntiger745 it was indeed
He legit would not believe he wasnt on Aerois at first until the party made him look at the night sky
Alot of his spells have a visual effect similar to the Cradle
Hypnotic Pattern causing a rainbow aurora
Dimension Door surrounding him and ally with "Cradle fog" for an instant
Mirror Images shattering into starry mist.
@@topherrobeson4446 So in a way, he carries part of Aerois with him. That's a neat detail. :)
@@suntiger745 thats not even getting into the Mirror Image backup + Major Image light show + Minor Illusion sound amplify
Enhanced full blown rock concerts
(Yes they all stack, only Major Image is concentration)
1:00:23 Honestly, this while conversation just shows how good of a DM Mark is... So insightful so understanding above and beyond
Trott's music choices are uncanny. It's been strikingly good on many occasions.
So proud of you guys, you’re my favorite D&D show 👍🏼
What a wholesome Q&A - would love more of these!
And Katie - Aila has become that strength for others to channel too now, thank you for creating her.
I think it's so interesting how much of Altheya was just brewing under the surface in this
Everyone loves artificer. Artificers are so awesome. You're not alone Tom :D
I'm so happy y'all got my Valla Fanart😩
FIRST
Woah! Very cool
I love Danica too! She is this season's Korrak/Adric
Watching this Q&A years later and into campaign 3 and hearing about the nature bard Mark was putting together… hello Rowan 💙
When you try to be serious but can't ... That is High Rollers for you LoL
Then I get more into the episode and end up crying 😭 ... y'all are the best!
I remember when Mark introduced petal I started to shake and cry a little bit
Finally up to date with Aerois!!
Can't wait until they start battling, convincing, or whatever else these crazy kids end up thinking of with the gods
A good old one two smackaroo should work.
Love the art as much as the Song
3:08:55 "end of the year Aerois will probably be at the point were it's coming to an end"
The guess was a little off. I am not sure if 161 was the last episode, but the title makes me doubt it
Mark: "I suspect we will probably continue until the end of the year."
Meanwhile, March 2023 and they're just now facing off against Mr Valkyrian 😂
And they finished 3 months ago 😂 they certainly didn't expect it 😂
And then this final arc lasted 2 years
When Katie started crying it hit me so hard. Because i always found Ttrpg therapeutic for that very reason
Ahhhhhhh you guys that fanart is amazing!!!!!
Needs a fuller space for a studio. Trott “has a warehouse”. Maybe, who knows?
"oh man our own studio is end game ages away"
* Looks at the newest episodes and the funding campaign *
Nice 😎
Also end of 2021 as end of campaign HA I laugh from the future 😂
Did you guys ever return to that ghost palace in rosehall, I do feel a bit bad for that nice paladin ghost dude and honestly wish to see how the princess and lucius interact after him leaving. And that girl that Night frost almost sucked the life out of, wish she gets better.
1:21:40 for myself later.
"Good f****ing luck!"
You'll be back for my birthday!
Do we have a clip of them finding out who marshstomp is?
escaped zarkiran testsubject. Simichybrid is what I would have chosen in hind sight. But here is so much to pick from.
Final arc qa special ~~one year ago~~
Can tell marks never been in a mosh pit 🤣
What if the next campaign they played as monstrous races(kobolds, orcs, locathah, etc…
Locathah is a fish. Just a fish. Literally just a fish.
Dibs on Locathah - Kim

Love these people
Have you got plans for another campaign in the future or not?
Love this campaign even if I only joined half way through.
Yes. Although Mark made a joke answer, a third campaign in a new setting is planned for.
Mark mentioned working on some homebrew classes later during the Q&A.
@suntiger745 thank you for letting me know.
Best line 2:25:30
1:37:13 MatPat, as in the host of Game Theory...?
1:15:00 I'm saving this little bit for later 🌚
I've never watched lightfall went straight into aerois is it good? Should I go back?
I’m playing ff14 while watching this
I have two questions, is it worth a subscription and would I feel crippled by not doing everything every day?
@@Blasted2Oblivion it’s free for the first 60 lvls and to the main story in the first expansion so you could see for yourself :)
@@kagelobo7444 well...that's a pretty good sales pitch. I'll take a look at it.
I wish mark and trott or even Tom or trott and tom without mark to make viedeo of making one shot or two shot How they gather everything done and week later play it with Kim riih mark on stream^^ I love them all just talking about ideas and fun stuff without playing worldbuilding character building bless ya all
Oh no, I've caught up again
2:17:00 dream you say? Now whats the next dream Mark becoming chris perkins!!! To say the Truth mark your a much better dm then chris perkins for me so keep on dming i would love to see you as a player in next campani
I’m just imagining the chicken dance
I’ll watch the stream first then I’ll make edits
mark said in a previous episode that if you make a guardian OC and posted it in their discord, it might get featured
SKORB!

Just marking this down for no reason and definitely not a gay one... ah who am I kidding I'm marking this down for entirely gay reasons
Could you guys tell me the name of the artist that drew your characters in the thumbnail? I really wanna know cuz DAMN THAT LOOKS SICK!!
The thumbnail art is their official second/upgraded character art drawn by Nina Serena. :)
