It’s strange because I’m in oc and been diving a long time. I never see lobsters come out grabbable in the daytime. You can get lucky and they get in a bad nook but usually they have real good spots to wedge into. Only reasonable way is at night. Maybe u just have a good spot tho. Idk. Interesting to see the difference in behavior tho. I swear a couple of those lobsters I have never seen them out and about like that once in 20 years down here in the daytime
When you see the lobsters walking around during the day, it is usually because I have harassed them enough in their holes to the point where they don't feel safe. Even if you can't get a good grip on the lobster, you touching their shell at the deepest point in the cave will make them uneasy and they will probably want to find another hole.
How are the lobster around late February. I'm planning on taking a trip down south for my birthday hoping to get some lobster. Also, can you find yellowtails and sheepheads and seabass around that time of year, I really wanna get one them some day.
From my experience, it is not as plentiful in February compared to earlier in the season. BUT I am shore diving and dive the same couple spots. I know other guys that kill it anytime during the season. Regarding the fish during February, you can definitely get Sheephead, a very small chance at both White Seabass and Yellowtail. Best of luck! Dive safe.
Looks like a lot of fun! Great video!
Appreciate the kind words. Your videos are very fun as well!
