  • We can't Vogue, but we can make a catchy song parody about early dynasties in China.

Actually I thought it's going to be another "poking fun" at chinese history since it says "parody". But as an overseas ethnic chinese and from what I know about ancient chinese history, she pretty much gave a brief idea of each dynasty and their rulers. And I actually thought that she pronounced the chinese names pretty accurately like "zhou", "qin" etc unlike some western academics who mangled the words with horrid pronunciation. She must hv learnt some chinese.

What I want to say is the kids from 'Tiger Mother' Chua family will never be able to create something like this in their area. I will never want to be her student, what kinda professor is that? She doesn't represent Chinese, her ancestors are Chinese Malaysia immigrants, we all know what class of people will go Malaysia in the old times, they don't present traditional culture.

@AnnaRosieDay that was during the early qing dynasty. but, like I said, the "qipao" (long dress) is a manchurian dress and both of the mongols and manchus, just like every other conquered dynasty, didn't get accepted too fast. there are 56 (or more) different cultures in chinese. and 120 languages (and more) in the country. to say that the manchus and mongols are not chinese is like saying white people are americans and colored people aren't.

Trader may not be blocked, but soldiers may be different. Trader can survive in very harsh environment due to their desire for wealth, soldier don't. Some ambassador did came to china, but no record said that any Chinese officer ever visit Rome. And in my last response, what i wanted to said is china seldom have military contact with other civilization(no counting barbarian) . No other race can conquer our land permanently. So, history keep repeating itself, dynasties's rise and fall.

@AnnaRosieDay btw, wiki is not 100% accurate. read an actual chinese book. or learn about the culture more by studying chinese history or ask your parents about our people. there's a reason why these cultures (tibetans, manchus, mongolians, xinjiangs) are part of the main cultures of china today.

Interesting thing about the phrase "the Dao is the way" is that Dao is not just a metaphysical concept that can literally mean "way", but it is also a kind of sword. So that phrase could be taken out of context to mean 'the sword is the way' - a philosophy that could easily be taken to define most of history.
