Your need to work on validating your research before producing a video. You had so many errors in this video with incorrect names, incorrect character information and incorrect facts throughout the entire video. M.A.S.H. is a tremendous TV series and deserves to be given respect and a proper presentation when publishing a video overview or informational video about it.
You are so right! I love this show to this day -- and we can't say that about every tv program.
This guy's videos are terrible, full of errors and this one is no different. Being able to falsely represent the truth should be banned by UA-cam.
Agreed - there are so many glaring errors. Major Winchester never had an office with a piano in the background. The piano was in the officers' club. Winchester did attempt to play it. William Christopher did play the piano in several episodes; don't know if he could actually play the piano, however. Radar was never a nurse; he was the company clerk. These are just a few of the huge errors.
Called Loretta Switt Loretta Swift, called Larry Linville Kevin Dobson. OMG, a 10 year old with google could do a better job
They also showed William Christopher while calling him Harry Morgan, and saying that Harry Morgan was shown several times playing the piano....when Morgan was NEVER shown playing the piano, whereas FATHER MUCAHY was; who was played by WILLIAM CHRISTOPHER.
JEEZ these people are idiots.
@@jack002tuber and she had a 'small role' on the show?? And DIED??! The woman is still alive!
Radar did do the nurses job when the nurses were sent away for safety as there was a push on..
Google indicates that Alan Alda was diagnosed with Parkinsons, not prostate cancer. And Larry Linville (Frank Burns) left the show because he felt that he'd done as much as he could with the character. He was one of the nicest people on the cast.
Rich Jones you did more research about MASH than the person who wrote the article 😆. Alan Alda even announced his Parkinson’s diagnosis on television.
His Parkinson's diagnosis was rather recent (2015), and would not have affected the MASH crew on set as the show had been off the air for over 30 years at that point.
Frank Burns and Percy Wetmore are the two most talented actors to play villains in modern times.I truly hated both and forgot sometimes they were just characters.Terrible ending when Frank got promoted and sent home.Much better when Percy Wetmore's cheese slid off his cracker and he left Shawshank Prison for Briar Ridge Nervous Hospital.
Yes I agree, Larry Linville was actually quite smart and a great guy, go look up Radars interview talking about the people who played on mash. He gives a glowing insight to what the actor was like.
I never thought McLain Stevenson was a terrible actor. Where did that come from?
I have Hulu mainly because they have all the MASH episodes. I have seen them all, but it is the first 3 seasons with Stevenson that I watch over and over.... I never saw him in anything but MASH, so I couldn't say how good or bad he was an actor, but his Henry Blake is possibly my favorite character from ANY TV show or movie.
@@EricThompson1965 Yes. his Henry Blake was an amusingly (?) affable, complacent, low key, lackadaisical contrast to Harry Morgan's methodically, briskly conscientious Colonel Potter. Thus at the end of Blake's story arc, it was a huge shock to viewers and his Mash colleagues when the helicopter taking him to his plane for the States crashed, killing all aboard. Not a dry eye at that tragic incident.
This youtube channel is so messed up, ignore anything they say. They don't know anything
McLean Stevenson, where did you get your version of his name, from the narrator?
Every actor played a brilliant part in my opinion. Loved that show.
Klinger's home town was TOLEDO! He always said it was TOLEDO, it was constantly referenced, constantly repeated, and was well known to anyone who actually watched the damn show.
There are constant references in this video to actors, by name, while showing photographs of other actors (as an example; Sally Kellerman being shown as Lorretta Swit).
These people didn't actually do any research on this; they made it up as they went.
Because Jamie Farr Who Played Klinger. Yes, Sally Kellerman. I knew that looked familiar and not Loretta Swit. I think that is who played "Hot Lips" in the movie.
And the theme song music for the tv show, as I recall, was featured in the movie as “Suicide is Painless”.
Yeah ... its interesting .... in a cynical kinda way ........ and yeah Klinger was from Toledo ...... in fact in some episodes you will see him wearing a sweatshirt that says "Mudhens" on it ....... that is the farm club for the Detroit Tigers , and the Toledo Mudhens are based out of Toledo.
*Major* Hoolihan didn't die, she was in almost every episode; Winchester didn't have an office; Radar left the show before season 9; Burns left the show because he thought his character's arc was through.
She was in the most episodes second to Hawkeye, the only one to appear in all.
Loretta Swit was the only of main cast besides Alan Alda who appeared in every episode although Swit missed a few episodes in 11 seasons where Alda was in every episode.
So many mistakes - Larry Linville played Burns, Radar was not a nurse, and Loretta Swit, not Swift, is still alive. Sally Kellerman, who played Hot Lips in the movie, died this spring. Klinger was from Toledo. And others - it's like you were talking about a different show.
@@cletusspucklerstablejeaniu1059 according to Wikipedia and IMDb, she's still alive. Sally Kellerman died February of last year.
Radar O'Reilly was not a nurse he was a clerk.
@@kimkelly5512 a man that this video created. It is Harry Morgan that was on the show.
@@kimkelly5512 George Morgan was the actor who portrayed Fr. Mulcahy in the pilot episode only.
I am a huge MASH fan. I have never heard or read anything about Alda disliking any cast member. But mentioning animosity, real or otherwise, between beloved characters from beloved TV shows grabs our attention... and makes the creator money
Do you mean the Author of this terrible, mind blowingly wrong video makes money on this?
Actually, alda and berghoff didnt get along to well at times but I dont think they hated each other
If Alda disliked his cast so much, why was he crying in his boots when Mash was over.
Wow.... You'd like to think that someone would do their research before putting this video together. Larry Linville played Frank Burns. Not Kevin Dobson as stated in this video. Loretta Swit did not die as claimed in this video. She is very much still alive. Whomever is responsible for the information in this 5-cent production should be ashamed of all of these lies, and incorrect information. Poor choices and even shittier information on a fantastic show and cast.
It's kinda weird that Radar's Teddy bear was named after Oliver North due to the Iran Contra Affair, since the show ran from 1971 to 1983, and Iran Contra wasn't until 1985.
They showed a picture of William Christopher and cslled him Harry Morgan and identifued Larry Linville as Kevin Dobson and many other mistakes, what a SLOPPY JOB !!!
The opening sequence was not filmed in Korea… it was filmed at the Fox ranch in Malibu Canyon
I grew up on M*A*S*H. And as far as I can remember, there was NEVER a main cast member played by anyone named "Kevin Dobson".
@@andydurazo5337 He also played Mack on Knots landing, Michelle Lee's or Karen Fairgates love interest and eventual husband on the show.
Don't you remeber he was the guy that...said,,, um no I th no He Yeah You're right🤔😉
Lotta bad info... See below. Also, the theme song, "Suicide is Painless" from Wiki:
"Director Robert Altman had two stipulations about the song for composer Johnny Mandel: it had to be called "Suicide Is Painless" and it had to be the "stupidest song ever written".[2] Altman attempted to write the lyric himself, but, upon finding it too difficult for his "45-year-old brain" to write something "stupid" enough,[3] he gave the task to his 15-year-old-son Michael, who reportedly wrote the lyrics in five minutes."
The movie came out in 1970. 12 years to write...? Makes it 1958. Inspired by son serving in Vietnam. US did not intervene until 1964. An F for Faulty Facts.
Oddly, the real story is more interesting than the drivel in this video.
Add an L for Lies. So many errors about a show that was so well known makes this video a pack of lies.
well said and i love the theme song to the show and the lyrics as well that Altman's son wrote as well
Stevenson however you want to rate him as an actor, played his character real well to say the least. Funny and very likable.
This video is a good example to take videos from the university of UA-cam with a big grain of salt. There's so many errors that they must of made them purpose just to bait us.
I think he played him REALLY well also, sorry you septics have lost the use of the adverb.
😂😂😂 I would like you to do an video covering the tv show M*A*S*H
😂😂😂
Best fiction I 've ever heard
M*A*S*H is supposed to be fictional but it shows you what can happen during a war like GWTW during the Civil War the ups and downs
You should get your facts straight before proving your ignorance with a video about a show you never watched.
Uhh, Kevin Dobson played Frank Burns? News to me. They kept showing Larry Linville’s name in the credits.
according to him Hot Lips had a small role in the show and died of cancer during season 9 so who was that in the series finale? her exact twin?
You are incredibly wrong about everything you said about Loretta Swit -she was on the show the entire length of it's run and Kilinger came from Ohio - Toledo Ohio to be exact - writes about something you know about next time!
Loretta Swit is very much alive & I have never heard of her having one child let alone several!
High respect for Major Winchester in this episode.
Funny because Alda was the only character i couldn't stand .

This article is an embarrassment!!! I wonder how they could release such errors. I am also a MASH fanatic, and still watch reruns at least 30 times each! Nmy favorite character was Klinger!!!❤
ME TOO we need to defend it I reported this Traitor LOL Col. Flagg Style
Mulchahey was my favourite! Actually my favourite line was when Hoolihan was talking too much about her new engagement and Burns was genuinely upset by her callous behaviour. When he mentions he might take out a particular nurse and she says “isn’t she a bit young” and he responds “I thought it would make a good change”.. it’s really the only time you can like the Burns character!
@@clselwood I thought when that happened Burns was going to shift into more of a Buddy that screwed up But alas No
Yeah.. Larry Linville mustn't have thought that was a good idea cause he left saying the character had no where to go.. obviously didn't want to go down the path of changing.. sorta glad he didn't. Margaret did.. her big change came when she broke down with the nurses saying how she always felt left out.
A little research would be nice.
Wow! You never fail to disappoint when it comes to your inaccuracies in the FACTS regarding whatever topic you are doing a video on. At least you're consistent!
Kevin Dobson? Who the hell are you talking about? LARRY LINVILLE PLAYED FRANK BURNS
The theme was originally in the movie MASH. They didn’t use the words from the song in the show because the producers thought they were too dark. The only true thing I heard was about the adverse conditions they worked under when they filmed at the park.
In fact there is a whole scene in the movie where the guy lays in the coffin as the song is played. ua-cam.com/video/M29Cf-NxtEA/v-deo.html
Ditto to all the criticisms. MASH was an absolutely outstanding show, and deserves much more than this video delivers. Halfway through, I started wondering if this was a weird attempt at satire. Many of the 'facts' are just dead wrong -- as if the writer used a Mad Libs game to cobble together a script from thin air!
Wow, so mistakes in this video. The writer must've spend two hours compiling the info. Really poorly done.
You gave him 2 hours? Are you sure it was that long? Maybe 2 minutes is more appropriate.
Frank Burns was played by Larry Linville
All right hahaha... this is a complete put on.... you should do a video claiming Dustin Hoffman was in Star Wars
Toledo OH was Kilinger, flatly stated hometown. The Toledo Muhens were his favorite team. These are minor details of the incorrect dribble that makes up this lunacy. Unless you're looking for a laugh, kick this to the curb.
This video is a total fabrication and totally incorrect on almost every front. Pull it down!
radar was not a nurse. he was the company clerk
It's weird how many people are criticizing this for inaccuracies. It's obviously intentional.

The Iran Contra Affair didn't even happen until TWO YEARS after the show went off the air.

This is so full of mis-information it just makes me sick!
Turns out Radar was a brat on the set many times as well. Fun fact about Radar. . . Hes missing fingers on one hand. Its why he's always hiding it during the scenes with clipboards etc.
His hand is deformed, he doesn't have "missing fingers"! But as WRONG as this video was about practically EVERYTHING, why should you be right!!😜🤮🥶😳😱😵💫🤪

I thought Larry Linville played Frank Burns, not Kevin Dobson. Loretta Swit (not Swift) is still alive. She also never had children.
Simply adore Alan Alda 💞
At 6:34, Larry Linville played Major Frank Burns. (Kevin Dobson was on Kojak, Knot's Landing, etc.)
5:20 So they went 10+ years into the future to get a name for Radars teddy bear? You'd think they'd use their time machine for something more monumental.
So many things wrong with the information contained in this video. I actually looked to see if it was published on April 1st.
It's not quite that bad, to be...ummm...generous, I guess!?! The year Houlihan and Hawkeye indulged their last lip sizzle in the series finale WAS also the year Fawn Hall got hired as Ollie's secretary, which was 4 years before the Iran-Contra hearings made "I do not recall" the four sexiest words spoken in the English language in the summer of 1987! (Hey, don't judge! I was what 1990s TV show Malcolm in the Middle would call a full-blown "Krelboyne"! I couldn't have Alex P. Keaton or Ice Man, had recently had the Indiana Jones/Han Solo hotness twofer utterly destroyed by Harrison Ford's comments on faking his way through a conscientious objector hearing to keep him out of Nam, and was from a family crammed with servicemembers from all 4 branches but most especially appreciated the beautiful vistas of beaches with Marines doing PT that afforded me opportunities to see as a hormonal teen!!!)
Klingers hometown was Toledo Ohio of which he was born there. Klinger was always talking about Tony Poco's which I have been too and ate there the famous hot dogs. His picture is all over the place. Alan Alda was not brought in to replace McLean Stevens. They both started out together. You people really do need to get your facts straight!
I may be wrong but Kevin Dobson may have made 2 extraordinarily brief appearances. Like 5 mins total for the two appearances. Less than little Opie Cunningham. 😊

No, don't bother if this is your usual quality.
The moment I hear that narrator I know the video is full of it.
Larry Linville played Major Frank Burns not Kevin Dobson who played Mack on Knots Landing.
Loretta Switt didn't pass away. They need to check out some of this stuff.
3:37 You DO know this photo is from the movie and not the tv show, right?
Aaaah... Hawkeye wasn't an "addition" to MASH he was the main character from Day One... have you seen the movie??
The camera dolly pictured became rare to see or work with. It was either a MaCallister or in that category of heavy as hell studio Dollies. I only encountered one, one time in a NYC studio. Grip and Electric tools have changed markedly since I was last working in the last '80s and early '90s. They are some wonderful and unique as well as inspiring tools of what is now a really matured business.
Went straight to the comments
The outdoor scenes were filmed in the foothills of California. In fact one goof always seen are the high tension towers and wires.
Wish Frank Burn, Col Blake and Trapper never left the show.
Morgan never played the piano in the series, rather it was Mulchay. Radar was never a nurse. Whoever wrote this script is totally ignorant of the show.
Retitled: "Making Stuff Up About MASH"
MASH ended in 1982. No one knew who Oliver North was until 1987. Done watching
I had to look and see if this came out on April Fool's Day. I was going to list all the GLARING mistakes in this video but a quick tiptoe through the comments revealed I am not alone in noticing them so there's no reason to point them out. Personally, I think M*A*S*H was the best show on television...EVER!!! I own the entire series and watch them often.
yhe oliver comment about iran contra hearings is false becaues that happened after mash went off the air .larry linvile played frank burns.
Loretta Swit didn't die she is still alive and is around 85 years old. Don't you guys do any research at all?
Wow, just...wow. Did you even research this? Have you ever even seen the show?
Maj. Frank Burns was played by Larry Linville, not Kevin Dobson. Also, the theme song to the series was sung with words in the original movie “M.A.S.H.!” During the “suicide” scene for the dentist “Jawbreaker.” Thirdly, Loretta Swit was a regular staple actor for the length of the show. You really need to verify your facts before publishing.
Video Reported
Iran Contra happened years after MASH went off the air. Nobody had heard of Oliver North when MASH was in production.
Klinger always said his hometown was Toledo Ohio!
Only a MASH hater could come up with so many lies
If these people can not even get the theme song, "suicide is painless" correct then there is a good chance the rest is cr@p. The "M. Altman" receiving credit on the record was none other than Mike Altman, the teenage son of Robert Altman. The director first took a crack at writing the lyrics himself. However, he felt his output was not "stupid enough." He wanted the song to be the "stupidest song ever written," you see. "I've got a kid who's a total idiot," he told his composer Johnny Mandel. So he gave it to his 14-year-old kid.
Loretta Swift is still alive and in her 80s
This video has so many 🦬💩! The only person that Alan didn't always get along with and so did the rest of the cast, was the guy who played Raidar O'Reilly.
The teddy bears secret name was Tiger but he was never named in the show.
After Alda started his pontificating I stopped watching MASH forever. Just like meathead on All in the Family enough is enough.
That's a shame.. it got good. He eventusllyhad a mental breakdown, and got locked up.. alda played it very well.
This was so funny! As I recall Kevin Dobson was a co-star on Kojak, not Mash! The theme song came from the movie of the same name and many other wrong references. What a mess!
Loretta Swit, not swift. And you’re thinking of the actress that played in the MASH movie.
Really hope this is a parody channel. This video is composed with a Trumpian level of accuracy, and attention to detail.
My Gawd!
Why do you have to be stupid and bring in one of the best presidents we’ve had in a long time. Shameful
Listen to the Liberal!! Shouldn't you be watching a video about the MEATHEAD!!!
Alan Alda was unwatchable, absolutely dripping with sanctimony. The series never recovered from the loss of McLean Stevenson and Wayne Rodgers. The BJ Honeycutt character was even more unlikable than Hawkeye, he was like Alan Alda on estrogen.
Ironically now that the liberal baby boomers have taken over the reigns of power, the US has become continuously at war and the military industrial business is doing better than ever. (Of course they now label the wars as "conflicts" and "police actions")
I liked BJ he's really good he was better than Trapper John and Charles was a whole lot better than Frank Burns
I believe radar was an honorary nurse
That wasn't Harry Morgan, it was Warren Christopher.
Radar was the Company Clerk....NOT a Nurse.
My mother was a surgical nurse in a WWII field hospital. She hated MASH. She hated all the joking and flirting in the operating room. She said, "We didn't have time to joke or flirt in surgery. And I bet the real MASH didn't either." She also believed many civilian patients today die because young surgeons want to emulate the "cool" surgeons on MASH. "The young surgeons use brain cells they need for surgery to make snappy banter," she said. Interestingly, in the book MASH, the author treated surgery as sacred. No smart-alecking or sexual harassment. The book's surgeons even beat up an incompetent surgeon to convince him to transfer to another unit. You can blame the MASH movie and TV show for injecting all those inappropriate comments into the operating room.
Your mother didn't have no sense of humor she's got bark and no bite and not a funny bone in her body if I had been there I'd gone nuts you can't be serious all the time you have to get rid of it when you can
1. It is a sit-com. 2. There was no laugh track in the operating room scenes.
@Deputy-Seraph When I'm saying get rid of "it," I'm not talking about the laugh-track. I'm talking about the pressures of surgery during war. Also, it doesn't matter if the operating room scenes have a laugh-track or not. The surgeons are still making inane, childish wisecracks during a time when they need every brain cell to keep people alive
The actress, Loretta Swit played Major Margaret Houlihan. She was never a Colonel.
Suicide is painless was written by Johnny Mandel for the movie.
Radar the young Army nurse.
