- Welcome back to Project FC3, our 2017 Honda Civic Si street/track car build. We're kicking off a new season of mods with some fundamentals: We are starting with an oil catch can to manage some of the blow-by in the direct injection 1.5L turbo engine.
/ / /
We selected the Mishimoto oil catch can for this install, as it has a nice clean, complete install kit, all in a small, tidy package. JP is going to walk you through how to install this catch can, and features of this product, complete with a little custom fabrication to make it work with our PRL Flex Fuel kit.
We recommend an oil catch can for any car, particularly on a direct injection engine, as there is no fuel spraying on to the back of the valves to clean them. But tune in to learn more about these little cans can prolong the life of your motor.

I have this exact catch can, thanks for the video. I think the 10th gen SI will continue to be a fan favorite Because they are cheap and fun
Thanks for come back to the 10th gen Bro!!! That is the reason why I am with you guys!
Heck yeah FC3 bayybeeee. Im hyped for the PRL Turbo kit. 🤔
Keep the 10th gen videos coming I’m still watching
Thanks for tuning in, we've got lots more on the way!
Finally !!
I’m a little late but finally the civic is back!
Better late than never, amirite? 😅
I was expecting PRL's spiral Catch Can.... I guess you'll be upgrading to that when it comes out.
What you need is the turbo inlet pipe!
Hello. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge.
I am still planning to install one.
But before, I would greatly appreciate if you could help us understand:
1. Is this solution somehow reduces the Oil Dilution problem as well?
2. Will we be required to top up oil from time to time if the catch can is collecting the oil vapors? (not sure if I am getting it right but without catch can - a part of the oil vapors is depositing on the intake system but the other part is returning back to lubricate the engine which means with the Catch Can we will lose a tiny bit of oil from the engine with time, therefore forcing us eventually to add engine oil. Please correct me if I am wrong)
What is the main benefit of catch can? Im thinking to buy one for my si
Months and months later… A fucking catch can.
Lol we're starting small, but there is much more to come!
Maybe a dumb question, but why aren't cars built with catch cans already installed?
Not a dumb question - like most parts we choose to upgrade, the stock, mass-produced parts are engineered to be cost effective, not necessarily the best. Adding a catch can on every car would be more expensive to produce and another maintenance item not every customer wants. By adding a can, we elect to invest in our ride and take on the extra, albeit simple, maintenance task.
@@EdgeAutosport Appreciate the explanation. This video helped inspire me to purchase one
A catch can reduces carbon buildup in your engine the less the better.
Can I buy your hoodies and shirts? I bet people will pay big money for 'say no to stock'
They are available on our store: edgeautosport.com/say-no-to-stock-t-shirt/ and we'll have some more designs later this year
