Ever wonder what to use for scale model leaves? In this FineScale Modeler Skill Building video, Kenneth Childres shows you how to improve your diorama or vignette scene with birch seeds and a Green Stuff World leaf punch and place them on your scale models. Once the leaves have been placed, glue them down with a mixture of water, glue, and liquid hand soap.

Neat tricks, much appreciated 👍
Happy to help
Very informative. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Would be nice if you gave us links to the items that you're featuring in the video.
You can visit www.greenstuffworld.com and search punches for all sorts of different leaf punches. If you have birch trees near you, collect a few seed pods, remove the seeds from it and let them dry. If you don't, you can visit or order from a garden supply store. Small packets of birch tree seed are often under $2.
What range of scales would this work for?
It depends. Both the punches and birchseeds work well with 1/32, 1/35, 1/24, 1/25 scales and 54mm miniatures. The birch seeds have a bit more range (especially if you crumble them a bit) and can work well for 1/48 scale and 28mm/30mm miniatures. Both can work for larger scales, though the leaves start to look puny. At smaller scales they start to look too large.
Hi, what is the ration of water, glue and sop in the mix you use to stick them?
So where can you get the punches at?
www.greenstuffworld.com Just search for punches.
@@FineScaleModelermagazine thanks!
I used to think little kids with their colorful paper hole punchers is very childish... how the table turns...
Indeed! Thanks for watching.
