You have a beautiful thing there, even if it stops working, you can get it fixed, it's just so much better that just streaming music from your phone, hands on is always better, great video 👍
New they costed around 600 to 800 EUR, non inflation adjusted. Expensive, but not as expensive like the silver faced X-sets like X990 and X770 Pioneer offered just a few years earlier. There was a serious drop in quality, eventhough this still sounds favourable next to todays average soundbar setup...
Are you sure about the vintage of this system? 1984 or 1985? With its built in CD player and general aesthetic I'd have said it was more like early to mid 1990s.
I have a vintage rx721 home pioneer stereo from the late 80's (my baby) lol with original speakers. (Too LOUD for any apartment complex). I hope you have far, far away neighbors for this one). Just a little dusty right now at this moment. I got kicked out of at least 3 apts in my life cuz of this system! It is loud AF! Make me an offer.
In the 90s I also had the Pioneer System DC-Z93M with the 6 CD Changer 😎😏 and the Rack. However, not this, but the normal with the Glass Plate on top. Unfortunately, I sold it sometime in the late 90s 😔 But I will definitely get such a Midi System again soon 😉 The cool thing about the CD Changer is, by the way, if you have a Changer of the M-series in the Car you can simply take the magazine from Home into the Car 😎😏
If someone shorts the + & - speaker wires with the amp turned on, it will blow the output fuse on that channel. It's easy to do and a very cheap repair once you've found a replacement. I did the same to my Pioneer amp back in the 80's
Borrow a multimeter a put it on a low DC setting . If you get a few volts its passing DC that's probably the capacitors are bad . If you get nothing take it apart and do a visual inspection, look for burned boards or capacitors deformed on the top like a dome. Capacitors have a shelf life around 15 years . Resistors can go bad too , especially if the caps failed . It's called "out of bias" You might be able to fix it .
Much appreciated! Glad I could help! By the way if you buy a Logitech Bluetooth adapter, you can connect that to the video input basically giving the hi-fi Bluetooth. That's what I do.
Endfloat Hello! I got my system today it sounds so amazing. I went on amazon and got the logetech adapter and I now have Bluetooth thanks for everything and all the suggestions. It’s not the same system as yours mine is the dc z94 your videos still inspired me anyway and the cable connection is exactly the same so I’m very happy 😁😁
Sorry...didn't realise you had a Turntable on the bottom shelf, just remember...Vinyl, Tape and CD are way superior than UA-cam, Spotify and ITunes, they all compress their music, so the music never sounds as it should, but you probably already know that?
Oh I certainly do know that! I have quite a good vinyl collection. And yes, this hi-fi is the last of the really good non disposable stuff that was built to last. I love it.
this was 'mainstream' hifi. with the standard deliverd speakers.......... most people upgraded those kind of stereo's with better speakers this old stereo set sounds 100000000 better than al the digital garbage nowadays and 4000 euro bluetooth speakers nowadays from bang and olufsen, etc. . that's the truth.
old technology works much better than new stuff
I bought this exact system which I still use today. It's from 1988

I recently aquired a similar setup for free off of Craigslist. Perfect 10/10 cosmetically and everything works just lovely.
That was a nice find!
Dad had one exactly like that!!! Bought Christmas '88.

Amazing what you can find in a charity shop. Would love a system like your toshiba, but wouldn’t mind finding that pioneer one either
I did a separate video about the Toshiba system. It's a 330 system.

That's what I'm hoping. I'll pull the back off it in the coming days and have a look. I'll do another video on it.

Thanks for the info. I got it sorted in the end. It's actually in regular use now, and sounding great!
this is funny just one speaker gives a better sound than most expensive speakers nowadays LOL.
All you need is a turntable to go on top. 😉
I'm actually thinking about putting my nice direct drive Toshiba turntable on top instead of using the one down the bottom.
@@Endfloat good job, turntable always has to be on top, treat it like a woman 😉😉
Those cd-caddies need the discs with the label down and the shiny surface on top.
Thanks! I did figure that out in the end after a bit of head scratching.
Exellent team
Hey it’s me again is there any way I can connect my phone with cables? What connectors does it have?😁
There's an RCA input called video. That's basically your aux input. Use a 3.5mm to RCA cable.
Endfloat thankyou! Your such a nice guy I’m definitely subscribing 😁😁
Much appreciated! Glad I could help! By the way if you buy a Logitech Bluetooth adapter, you can connect that to the video input basically giving the hi-fi Bluetooth. That's what I do.
Endfloat I didn’t even think that I’m definitely doing that 😁😁

have you sold it on can you fix it?
It's working perfectly and takes pride of place in my living room now, so I do indeed still have it.
Hi, your silver hi fi stand made in Hungary in my city lol
That's cool! I was given it by my cousin. It's very nice actually. I have the smaller one to go with it too.
