I'm obsessed. ♥ I really miss when my dad would play this game with me. I lost the game, and i want to buy it again to play and bring back some daughter/dad memories.
I've seen this intro so many times and it's STILL utterly amazing. There are so many great things to it; pretty much every sequence before the point where Astaroth fights the sisters is awesome. I love every scene from the point where Nightmare consumes the souls, most notably the visual metaphor regarding Siegfried at 3:24, that's just amazing. This is probably the best video game intro ever!

this game was my baby i swear i never stopped playing it especially since i was a complete badass at using NIghtmare, i also loved the the color customization and character creation modes kickass, but i think that SC2 and SC3 had the best Nightmare suits, badass armor
this game is the sole reason I got a PS2. I saw this and I cried. then i played the game. I cried again. but these were tears of pain. the game was fucking hard. i remember breaking my controller while fighting Abyss. The RTS thing was fun and I wished they included that in SCIV. I hope it makes a return in SCV
I found that soul calibur III had the best intro and the best single playr adventure. But, I like soul calibur IV, because the redone characters were amazing. Plus, Nightmare's voice was badass.
SC3 is still easily the best game in the series to me, everything from the music to the character creation, to even the stages was waaaaay better to what I got in 4. I can only hope that 5 will bring back all the things that made the previous games so great.
I can't wait to play this game........I'm getting it tomorrow and it will be the first game that have played from the Soul series in over forteen years since Soul Blade. I've really missed this game...
@ThatGuywhoSpillNerd Nightmare is the will of the Soul Edge basically. Siegfried was a man who sought the Soul Edge, found it, and got possessed by it, becoming Nightmare for a time.
A truley ultimate "Soul" game, would be one that's up to IV's standard in graphics and sound, but has a propper storyline/weapon collection mode that's a combination of ToS and Edge Master Mode, as well as another "CoTS" mode to. Also, they should bring back those "Destined Battle" scene, complete with the music - those things kicked ass!
The reason why Namco didn't allow you to use those styles were for two reasons, one which I already mentioned and two; because they felt that the guest characters would lose their unique identity. Yes, those fighting styles that Galen, Vader and Yoda use in SCIV are also canon-established styles within the Star Wars Expanded Universe. It also has something to do with the fact that they aren't even native to the universe or timeline which the Soul series is based on.
Can you imagine how funny it would look to see two kids waving sticks around while staring at a tv? I doubt that anything their characters will be doing will have anything correlation to the stick-waggling!
yo just to let ya'll know that sigfried was nightmare from soul calibur 2. nightmare is the soul of soul edge in his old armour in this game(aka inferno). sigfried is the guy wit the big sword who imagines his hand turns into a green claw in the intro...just to let ya'll know
yes, every character class have 2 souls of characters for use except the sword master class. For example, the knigth class have the soul of sigfried and the soul of raphael but after have them you have to level that class playing with it in any mode that you can. Sorry for my craapy english

If I remember correctly, it is set to be a prequel to the series, with a little more stress than usual on one-player mode since it develops seigfried's character into nightmare. To all you Soul Calibur fans, a little question (because I'm not): I remember playing some fighting game on an arcade machine in Croatia when I was younger, years ago. I want to know what game I've played back then, but I only remember 3 little details: 1) This machine did cost me a lot of money 2) There was a Siegfried, so its probably Soul Calibur 3) The Boss was a Pirate, who resurrected and always kicked my ass. I don't know if he was the final boss, but at least it took long to get to him.
Intresting story: I went to the local comic shop and started talking about this game. This person comes up and starts spouting this information that I knew was bull. Saying pretty much that sc3 was a glitchy game and that the arcade version was the "fixed version". I knew this was bull cause I played this game almost none stop since I got it in december of 05. Then he goes on saying he is a friggin profesional player yet never been to a tournament. Good gamers know this game. Best of the series.

Soul Calibur III will be my all time favorite compared to four. I have played both but SC IV was lacking in some areas, and I remember having fun playing this game. Too bad I don't have my ps2 anymore, nor this game.

Siegfried, Raphael, Crevantes, Kilik, Zasalamel and Abyss my favourite. Theeir moves are the best and I like it! Soul Calibur 3 is the best game especially Character Creation. I heard Soul Calibur 4 is currently in making...Hopefully more character will be in this game!!!
the purpose of Zasalamel(the black dude) was to grasp the clashing point of the 2 swords power so he could be destroyed by them... he wanted the calibur and soul edge on its peek of energy he was immortal... he only looked for his destruction no matter what pain would cause to others or smthg like that lol hope that hlps on some sort

Kilik is awesome. He's the only character with a stick as a weapon. Gives him quite the edge in most fights.

It is Phantom Soul Edge. Created out of soul edge's spirit's (Inferno's) new body, which you now call Nightmare.

In 0:36, Soul Calibur and Soul Edge becomes Soul Embrace. I heard rumors that Sirgfried can use it in SC3 and became Kilek's extra weapon in SC4
