That's the great thing with lake mac it is so big you never run out of options and there is always a spot you have never fished ! Ripper video and some nice fish there Dave !
@@aussfish9995 I discovered how big when i lived at chain valley bay , did a run to the top of the lake and had to fight my way home in a howling southerly - 4m polycraft - bit like a pointy punt . it wasn't nice !
Hey Dave, I didn't know that area was called the jewfish highway. I fished there this morning for the first time too, but for zero fish. Highway must have been closed🤣. Plenty of bait showing on the 4 spots I marked up there last weekend, just nothing biting😞
A lot of guys bait fish those areas of a night for Jewfish on the northern side of Wangi Point out of Fishing Point Macquarie Reef and Coal Point it certainly holds some bait. I worked with bloke who was a local and he would call it the Jewfish Highway
@@aussfish9995 Well then I request a salmon cook up please. Interesting fact, they're not salmon they're actually a perch. Perhaps of they were correctly branded as an Australian Ocean Perch, they would be the delicacy they deserve to be. A much maligned eating fish Dave.
Here’s a funny thing for both you blokes - you target flathead & jewies in the lake, and occasionally kings, and release 99.9%of what you catch on camera. Yet the “boring” Aussie salmon pull flathead & jewies backwards and yet can be as finicky as a brown trout sipping gnats from the surface film. Talk about one of THE most underrated fish in our waters. That Salmon had you tied in knots !!!
@TrailerYacht They do pull really hard especially on 8lb braid and a 1 to 3 kg rod. Your right they are a magnificent sport fish they get a bad wrap 😂😂😂
@@aussfish9995 - you guys do whatever makes you happy BUT seriously though Dave - it does NOT make sense. Both you & Lowy nearly 100% catch & release, yet exclusively target our premier table fish. Yet Australian Salmon fight waaaaay harder than anything else you get in the Lake (other than Kings). If they were rare like Permit, Cobia, Dolphin fish & bonefish in the Lake - you’d be RAVING about them. The best fight I’ve ever had in the Lake was a 4 lb big-eye trevally on blackfish gear at the outlet. GREAT FUN on 6lb leader & no 10 hook with a centrepin reel ! Took a weed bait just as I started to retrieve my line. A mate has also caught giant herring there too.
😂😂😂 You wish you new were the Jew Fish Highway was🤣 When you catch 700+ of one mark in 3 years you know you have found the Highway until then keep trying 🤙
Wow that’s impressive no that’s epic 👊👊 I’m new to Jew fishing the Lake I’ve caught just as many as that in the Hunter River and Stockton Beach over the last three years though 😜
@@aussfish9995 700 is probably an understatement you stop counting after awhile 😜 ..There is only a handful of people that know the True Jew Highway Mark as I was the one who made it 💯 A handful too many aswell ..But when you fish the lake as much as I have you learn where too sit and when..But there is no fun in catching them in the same spot when it’s like shooting fish in a barrel,Caught Jew Fish in over 20 different locations some of the best fish 3-4 mtrs from shore… Record is 24 in one night / Biggest landed so far in the lake is 127cm…Tagged over 100 ..
Awesome mate I’m just at the beginning of my Jewfish journey in the Lake I’m kind of excited interesting that caught them from close to shore as well. Are you bait fishing or lure fishing or both. I’ve caught them random all over the place mostly fishing south of Pulbah but I’ve begun to search further north around Wangi Fishing Point Coal Point etc 👍
Looks like you had a crackin day. Thanks for highlighting the beauty and vastness of the Lake!
Thanks mate it is beautiful
G’day Dave, I love the old Lake Macquarie. I use to fish there years ago and caught some beautiful fish….. thanks for the memories mate. Nice fish 👍🏼
It’s a beautiful place one of my favourite places to fish

The rods are no longer being dropped against the gunnels that were freshly welded by your cousin.
The lesson has been learnt. My work is done here.

@truthlifefishing1730 I catch clean and cook all the fish in the house hold my wife just eats it she loves it 😂😂
