    Looking forward to the LB7 intercooler install. I plan on doing that to my 98 suburban since I have one available after installing a banks intercooler on my Duramax.

      I’m excited to work on it. I just need to go buy another core support and take the time to cut it all in and make mounting pads. In theory it’ll cut down on intake temps to be closer to ambient like my LB7 runs daily.

    Howdy! I’ve been building into a 94/95 6.5td retired ambulance for a couple years. 3inch intake, ripped out the sleeve in the fender, wicked spool in stock turbo, 4 inch exhaust,1/2inch fuel lines, raptor pump, new water pump and fan, etc. I’m still having issues with the turbo getting so hot that it melts my return lines and glow plug wires, and also the rebuilt 4l80e is getting pretty darn warm despite the little bd diesel oil cooler on it. I’ve taken out the passenger fender so the area is a little cooler and the old bolt holes add to the stock filter intake, but it doesn’t seem to be enough for my 12000lb rig especially while towing.
    Trying to decide if I should get an intercooler or just revamp the intake, I have a/c but it doesn’t work; and also if I should put the old a/c condenser as an oil cooler for the tranny. HIGHLY budgeted, but the truck is both home and transport so is priority. I’d love suggestions and could give you a videocall walkthrough if you’re into helping! Thanks for reading

      With a rig that heavy you need to be looking at an HX35 turbo swap and a heat shield. The stock turbos just make insane amounts of heat which is what you are seeing here.

    Just a question. Can thickness in a intercooler be just as good as a bigger area intercooler like a Duramax intercooler?

    • @gingersnapcustoms

      In reality the volume is just as important as the surface area

    Hi buddie, please can I get your opinion about an intercooler install. I do not want to remove my condenser, oil and trans cooler. I am changing my radiator to electric and removing the mechanical fan, they fans will be pulling air and thought of mounting the intercooler against the rad fan between the space I am removing the mechanical fan. Do you think, it's a good idea?

    • @gingersnapcustoms
      @gingersnapcustoms Рік тому +1

      I would never remove the mechanical fan on a 6.5. It’s been proven more than once that electric don’t move enough air. If you are doing that much work I would suggest an air to water intercooler or just get a skid plate mounted one since you won’t have the same air flow through the radiator anymore.

    Hi buddie, Merry Christmas. I guess an intercooler with 2.5" port probably not a good idea for the 6.5?

    • @gingersnapcustoms
      @gingersnapcustoms Рік тому +2

      It’s best to run 3” piping and ports when possible. It allows higher flow volume and less heat exchanged in the tubes.

      @@gingersnapcustoms ahh ok thank you so much. I won't buy the one with the 2.5" then

    My friend runs water to air on his first gen cummins. I’m not sure his system works like you’d expect it to. He uses a Jerry can for a reservoir. I’m not sure he even uses a radiator for it 🤦🏻‍♂️

      It will work with AC. I’m going to start working on the demo video in November now since I found out I’ll be down for 5-6 weeks starting in September for some health stuff.

    Air To water cooler with interchiller = 32 degree intake air temps ( need ac compressor tho)
