I live in San Diego, and the SDPD is very good at protecting their officers by releasing body cam footage quickly, before the media can twist the facts. The officers did very good in this body cam video! They also very quickly detained the man and started CPR.

I’m surprised people haven’t figured out by this point if you don’t try to shoot the cops they won’t try to shoot you (edit) to some of you pointing out that cops shoot unarmed suspects and civilians I’m not saying all cops won’t shoot and those that do should be arrested and responsible for the murder but in all fairness if a suspect reaches for their waist in the area a gun is holstered it’s expected for the officers to think its a gun and they are responsible to protect themselves and other civilians even if it requires deadly force (btw officer 401 has a video talking about use of proper force)

tuloko16 it’s better to render aid than to just say “f*ck it he’s gone already”. that could open up a lawsuit. in the military, they teach you to do CPR first, get his heart going, then tend to the bleeding.
Cassie Ferguson not in combat. Cpr is not recommended, or practiced due to the risk of aditional injury vs benefits of cpr. During combat the first thing you do is gain battle superiority, then contol the bleeding, then anything else you may need to do.
Another thing of like to point out is how the 2nd officer behind the Mazda was able to calmly and quickly put out the call. Both officers did a great job in creating safe angles to engage the suspect and maintain a visual at all times. Last both officers did an excellent job in communicating with one another. A+ officers! I'd buy these two a beer anytime!
The officers also showed a tactical that they were tactically proficient by spitting up, while one took cover using the parked cars and actually being able to provide and yell out that the suspect had a gun first. He also called in "Shot's fired" on his radio to dispatch, which initiates a code 3 response from responding units. While probably futile, CPR initiated within 30 seconds from the time of the shooting. Job well done!!! Did the suspect live to see his day in court?

I count 11 seconds from initial challenge to starting to holster to check the suspect. That's SO fast. I can't imagine having to decide on a use-of-force spectrum and then carrying it out that fast. Those guys deserve credit for their calmness under the kind of pressure most of us won't (fortunately) have to ever experience.
