I’m 48 and been having mammograms since I was 40. When I was 45 I had my mammogram and got the call the next day. I was freaking out. I had to do a biopsy and thank goodness it was benign. For the week I waited for the appointment was horrible. I’m so glad that you’re sharing this. I hope it makes all women get their mammograms ❤❤❤. I’m so sorry about your friend having breast cancer 😔. I’m so glad all is well ❤❤❤. Sending you all my best ❤❤❤.

Don't worry! Everytime I've ever had a mammogram (age 35 to age 73) they usually called me back for another, and even without lumps, I've had several breast biopsies--never any cancers! I'm getting off the mammogram hamster wheel next year, at 74.

I had 2 that were pretty large(fibroadenoma) 1 at 17 and 1 at 20. Both were removed due to the size. They were round, hard, and rolled around, not painful. Both benign. Stopped with hormonal birth control and never had another issue. Now 51❤

I’m so sorry that you had to go through that. You are very wise to make your health a priority.
I’ve had scares like that, and it’s so stressful! The older I’ve gotten, the more I need to see the doctor, and have imaging. It’s very overwhelming 10:29 at times.
Stay well, and best wishes to you. ❤

I wish doctors would stop saying that they believe you're too young to be concerned. That upsets me, and it's condescending to someone who is just being careful. It's always good to check. Good thoughts and prayers for you! :)

    • @annecaunce

I agree. My daughter's best friend died 2 years ago from bowel cancer, which according to doctors, at 28, she was far too young to be suffering from. My friends 19 year old sister also passed from bowel cancer and she was also repeatedly told that she was too young to have the disease. I myself had to fight for a bone density scan when I was 40 as all 3 of my older sisters had been diagnosed with osteoporosis. Again and again told I was too young. When they finally gave me a scan, I was already down to 73% density in my spine. It's time doctors stopped diagnosing by textbooks and started accepting that there are always exceptions to the rule. And if you're worried about any symptoms, don't give up asking for further investigations. You know your body best.

You are so beautiful, I hated seeing you teary. You’ve had enough in y’alls young life. Enjoy your family, get regular checkups (you too Kameron- you are a dad now, have to do dad things). My beloved grandmother gave me tidbits of advice that I’ll pass on. Don’t sweat the small stuff, there will be “those” days but they always pass and tomorrow is a new day. Start the day by smiling in the mirror even if you think it is stupid, smile at the stupidity. Say I love you daily to those around you that you love, including yourself. And compliment at least one stranger a day. Say your prayers before bed. It has always been solid advice for me. Been married 36 years to my best friend. He and I raised 2 girls. I’ve had a good life so far….

It is hard not to freak out. When they found a lump on my right breast I was 65, so not in child bearing age range, but I still freaked out. After a biopsy came back “undeterminable” I had it removed. Luckily it was a cyst that came back benign. One thing I will say, the radiologist would not have let you go without talking to you if they thought it was something to worry about right now.

I know have a 3D mammogram and breast MRI done yearly. 1 year they did find something on my mammogram, fortunately with a ultrasound i found out it was fluid filled sack and nothing to really worry about but just monitor. I think its absolutely wonderful that you are taking the time to put yourself 1st as far as mental and physical health, you will be a better mom and wife knowing you are healthy in all aspects

It is totally normal to be scared. I had a breast exam at a Planned Parenthood when I was 27 and insurance-less and they found a lump. I was referred to a doctor who confirmed the lump and while it didn’t show classic indications of breast cancer (dimpling by the lump, pulling into the skin), he scheduled me for an ultrasound with a needle-aspiration biopsy for a few months later when I had insurance. The wait was scary and I obsessed over the worst-case scenario. During the ultrasound, they took thin pieces of the lump to biopsy and placed a little “clip” into the lump at the end of the scan so they’ll know it’s been tested before. My results came back benign. I found out later that I’m pretty high risk for breast cancer and started yearly mammograms at 35. This is the first video of yours I’ve seen but I wanted to let you know all of your feelings are valid and I’m happy everything came back benign for you too.

When I went through this REPEATEDLY (I have fibrocystic breasts) since I was a teenager….i now have PTSD. Last mammogram I had got me called in to have an ultrasound. Luckily, everything looked benign at that point, but for the next 2 years I had to have a mammogram every 6 months. I still cannot make myself open and read the report from that ultrasound. Just thinking about it sends me into panic mode. My doctor did say that the report says it looks benign so I’m going to just let THEM handle it. I need to make another appt for a mammogram now. I’m definitely due. And just a note, I know that regular recommendations state that women should have a mammogram every other year. Well the nurses that run the mammography dept told me to never wait 2 years in between check up! The number of changes that can happen in just one year are staggering. And your insurance will cover a yearly mammogram if you request it. Especially now for you Stefanie because you’ve had a lump. I’m so glad everything is ok! Thank you lord!

Had surgery, chemo and radiation - - no problems since then. It was no picnic, though & my kids were HS & Middle School age - not really young like yours. That would have been a lot harder. Don't worry, cysts are very common and breastcancer pretty unlikely shortly after prgnancy and breastfeeding. When I had a breast-tuck at my late 20s, they found a big cyst that no one was looking for, examined it, was harmless. I didn't waste more thoughts on it. Now I'm a mom and also more worried about my own health more, so I agree to the exams (here in Germany the doctors kinda urge you to let them do it), though I dislike them thouching me 😖

I have had had reoccurring cysts in my breast’s since I was 15. I remember going to the hospital for my mammogram and feeling so out of place among the older people who were there. But they have always been benign, thank goodness. I had my most recent one after losing my daughter two years ago and cried on the ultrasound table because it was so triggering. All of this to say…it’s okay to be scared. It’s NEVER too early to be aware of what is going on with your body. I’ve had too many doctors give me the “too young to be ill” speech with my years of dealing with chronic illness. What ever you experience is valid. The fear is valid. I’m so glad that everything is all clear.

Breast lumps and benign growths are incredibly common and it's the reason mammograms and follow ups when indicated are so important if something shows up. My experience has been they will refer you for a biopsy at the appointment if they're still not sure on imaging. I've been through this twice (and we have strong history of breast cancer on my mom's side, genetic testing has been negative). Both times they were benign. But it's scary AF, I know. Happy that you got good news!

As a breast cancer survivor (7 years and doing well!) who had an abnormal mammogram just a couple months ago, believe me, I understand! (A repeat mammogram that was more detailed came back normal, and whatever the ultrasound was looking for had gone away on its own.) Breast lumps should NEVER be disregarded!
I know this, because I almost didn't have the biopsy because everyone said the images were probably benign.

Hi Stephanie so pleased for you that it wasn't anything nasty. The Dr will probably tell you what the lump was at your next appointment. I had breast cancer at age 60yrs. Went through all the treatment operation and 5 yrs of tablets. I'm really good now, but l was so scared. We all need to be vigilant it can happen to anyone. Big hugs Stephanie ❤❤

My heart hurts for you. My heart dropped when I saw this title. I was scared this was what the appointments were about. I get anxiety too and I worry about people I care about way more than I worry about myself.

Okay...writing this comment before watching the vlogs, but it feels so urgent. A lump in the breast can have many different reasons that are not cancer. I unsterstand how you might be anxious right now, but try to think ALL the positive thoughts.

Thank God everything is ok. I was to young for a mamagram the first time there was a problem shortly after my first daughter was done breastfeeding. It turned out to just be a sebaceous cyst.

Thank you for posting this. I completely forgot that at my last doctor appointment (3 months ago), I was told it was time for a mammogram. I completely spaced it because I got busy with the holidays, etc. I am calling tomorrow to set up the appointment. Thanks for the reminder! 😊

The sooner you get diagnosed the better your chances of fighting it are. Always stay positive and surround yourself with lots of support even if you have nobody there are lots of women that will support you even if you don't know them. Love one another ❤

I've always had lumpy breasts and I'm 70. Had many mammograms over the years and a few where I was called back for an untrasound, but it always proved to be nothing. That said, a good friend of mine let quite a few years lapse with no check ups or screenings. She was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer by the time it was caught. Fortunately with treatment, she's a four year survivor.

After chemo and radiation from a stage 3brain cancer I was told I likely would not be able to have children. I’m happy to report I have four grown daughters, 2 of which were conceived naturally with c section deliveries. Just because you have chemo does not mean you can’t have children or become infernal. You probably have a clogged milk duct due to breast feeding. Your gonna be ok momma

In our country there is a huge campaign around younger women and breast cancer to raise awareness because they are not regularly screened.
Always pays to check ❤ its an anxious time, ive been for further investigation and imaging like many others and it turned out to be tissue

Stefanie, it's gonna be ok. Your body has pretty much had 3 back to back pregnancies, and your boobs fed both of your earth side babies. Your boobs have put in the WORK girl! Cysts aren't unheard of in such circumstances, believe me I am 42 and have a large cyst in my left breast. It's all gonna be alright and until a biopsy comes back as something cancerous it's best to not let it stress you out! You have enough to think about.

It riles me up when people think your too young to be worried about it! I found my first lump and had it drained when I was 15! Have had a few different types of lumps through the years and went to the doctor about lump a couple years back and my doctor said she thought this was it this time, told me which type of cancer she thought we could be dealing with, told me to make sure I do take a support person and it was going to be an urgent ultrasound, and that afterwards they would do a mammogram and counseling, luckily that time it still turned out to not be concerning, and I was 28. And even though they've always come back benign so far, it's never been the exact same thing, I will always get them checked. I'm grateful I've always been taken seriously about it

I found a lump at 16 turned out to be no big deal they did take it out. You’re never too young for an exam. Mamograms should be given to younger women. Prayers that it’s nothing but I’m so glad you chose to push your Dr. Don’t feel bad about asking your Dr for what you want and insist! You need to go ahead and have the babies you want to have the older you get the more problems you can have. Thank you for sharing this some young woman out there somewhere may have needed to see this to know to be assertive with their health care. It’s ok to freak out. That’s normal.

Any of us who have had lumps can relate. In Australia they don’t like to mammogram women under 55 because hormones can change the breast tissue for imaging. So I just had an ultrasound.

I have anxiety too, and ADHD, unmedicated because my body rejects any medication we try.. anyways my mind goes to the worst case scenario every time. No matter how many times I try to tell myself don't jump to conclusions it's like my brain has to be prepared for the worst case scenario because it is the worst case scenario I'm prepared I don't think that if I got the worst case scenario upfront I've ever been mentally okay

Omg how scarry. I found a walnut size lump last year in one breast. I had scans and biopsy but it was not breast cancer. It was lymphoma cancer which I already had. This info was given to me April 2024. By Dec my leukemia was fully back and I'm on chemo tabs. My lump went away after I got cortisone shot for arthritis. Great news for you.
