I was also in the Palm Springs area in March. As a first timer, I watched all of your Joshua Tree/Palm Springs vids beforehand. They added so much to my trip! Ty for the consistently great content.
I keep going back and re-watching your videos before we go explore. They are so informative. We even decided to start our own channel about our adventures too.
Thank you so much for your videos! I appreciate all the information you share along with your opinions. I’ve watched a handful of them to help plan for my upcoming trip to Palm Springs for the 2nd time. I will definitely be going to Indian Canyons, Joshua Tree and will go back to Mount San Jacinto. Visiting in April. Can’t wait!
Wow no kidding?!? Those trails look a lot of fun with way more shade than other SoCal hikes 🤯 You had a ton of beautiful shots in there. Hope we can check it out
California Fan Palms (Washingtonia Filifera) are, in my mind, the most visually striking of all the palms native to the United States. This video really shows them off superbly. In cultivation, they readily cross with Mexican Fan Palms (Washingtonia Robusta), making it difficult to find a "pure" California Fan Palm. Sites like Indian Canyon are important refuges for pure strain W. Filiferas.
Of all the hikes my wife and I have gone on in California, the one picture I have of her that I got blown up and framed, was from a hike in this area. It was in the Spring and we saw a good amount of flowers. The hike was what I would call a back trail, perhaps a 4-6 mile hike. The pic is from behind her, as she is looking across a vast expanse of desert and mountains.
We just hiked the tahquiz trail in Palm Springs and it was my first hike. Lucky for us is was 64 degrees when we started and 77 when we finished. Whew. So thanks for doing this video of some easier hikes. I will definitely go see these.
wasn't there suppose to be a waterfall at the end been a long time since I last went? or is that a different canyon. By the way try Thai Smiles, love their pad thai and the soup they give.
For additional areas to visit there are the Saltan Sea, Slabcity, and on the opposite side the mountain town that gets snow- I think it's called Eidlewild. And of course Joshua Tree
I did 3 hikes at Indian Canyon, including the ones you did. The old stone house by the gated area was owned by an old gun club. Not too far from Indian Canyon is Tahquitz Canyon. At the end of the hike is a 40-foot waterfall that is active in the spring. I loved that hike so much I've done it 4 times and each time I found something I hadn't seen before. I hope you do a video on that soon. At 74 I can't do a lot of the hikes you do so your video helps fill a gap in my adventures. Thanks.
I love that area! I've been there once. I totally want to go back. On that crazy looking Rock by the parking lot at the base of Andreas canyon there are a bunch of petroglyphs. But they won't tell you about it, they try to keep it a secret. You'd have to climb the rocks to see them I believe, but there is a sign that says keep off the rocks.
Hi Josh and family! This area is now pinned on my bucket list map. We drive by Palm springs at least once a year and haven't been there yet. Do you know if dogs are allowed?
The fan palm is the only native palm tree in California i believe, and oddly enough there are native palm trees in Oklahoma, i think Florida has the most native species in the lower 48.
Those fan palms are the only palm trees native to California and the entire American west! They only grow in a few isolated canyons in the Mojave. All the other palms you see around Cali are planted ornamentals!
Please come to Chico Northern California sometime in October and do a story on Bidwell park. 🏞️ The reason you want to do this trip in October is because that's our Fall colors in season.

That is awesome! Glad it was helpful!
I’m a local in Palm Springs and it does get very hot during the summer. Recommend coming in November- March is the best time to come!

I went to Indian Canyons this past February. We walked the Andreas Canyon Trail and it was very beautiful and peaceful.

Very cool to see the tall palm trees and some water out in the desert!👍
I found this location randomly while exploring google earth and youtube searched for a video about it, good video of the area! Thanks!
That looked so amazing. I was traveling across California last year and I need to come back to see Palm Canyon! Such a beautiful area

I love the Salton Sea area, it has been a while since I have been back there
was a very good experience 👍

Interesting, thanks for sharing!
Who is the guy with the big beard? Great hiking trail!
It looks like an example of a true oasis.
It really is!
What do you think of walking Andreas Canyon backwards (counter clockwise), so you get the sun first, then the shade?
Great hiking spot! So beautiful! Great video! We'll check out their channel!
Hi Josh and family! This area is now pinned on my bucket list map. We drive by Palm springs at least once a year and haven't been there yet. Do you know if dogs are allowed?
They don't allow dogs unfortunately, they were very specific about that when I paid my fee.

Great information thanks for sharing!
Would you do the hike again with your family?
Yea, I would love to take the twins to the oasis, would be a lot of fun. Next time we are in Palm Springs
I like to know the river mall is open see place look like now empty mall,I want see, walking video mall
Never been to Palm Springs. Would it be better to do Indian Canyons during the Spring (or Fall) instead of Summer?
Yes summers are very hot
Yea, any time but the summer. It can be 110 in the summer here
❤️❤️
I went to the exact pizza place one day ago while i was at palm springs haha.

Thanks for sharing that, really interesting!
