not really: the rotax / edge performance turbo got 155hp (usable due to gear box) - the UL power 520is has 200hp (at 3.300rpm) - but i can max. go up to 2.800rpm, otherwise the propeller wingtips are going supersonic. so i'm getting out 165hp, but with a much heavier engine. also due to weight I cannot use a constant speed propeller as before. so I'm limited with either climb rate or maximum speed.. plus the UL motor takes more gas.. so you see- it's not so much better - it's different

thx bro! sure a lot of work - you can follow the updates on 'Sergio's Hangar' videos on youtube on this channel :) and yes, it changes CG, but we did professional re-calculation and balancing weight in the tail..

@@jacksbruderworld1762 if there is problem with the 3.300 rpm and propeller wing tip speed then they can chose a more blades propeller with smaller diameter. I didn't understand how you figured out from 200hp (without gearbox) to 165hp and also what is the extra weight of the constant speed propeller? Apparently the Tarragon is not an ultralight at 475kg category but at 600kg and i don't see any significant problem for extra weight for the double of power... Agree about consumption, but for such an increase in cruise speed with 75% i'm not sure if it is a problem. Plus if you want to have some fun with the 200hp then maybe it really worths it! Usually this planes even at 475 have plenty of fuel capacity which actually is limited from the 475 UL. But as said, this is not the issue for the 600kg.
Have you considered adding the ULpower turbocharger? It then makes 220 HP at 2,500 rpm. More weight, of course, but it is behind the engine near the firewall. Have you relocated the batteries into the tail? Fly from the rear seat like aviators 100 years ago?

hm ya, VL3 auch schnell - allerdings passe ich da schlecht rein - kennst du meine VL3 videos von letztem sommer? wir flogen mit 3 maschinen VL3 runter an die südspitze siziliens, dann rüber italien, kroatien und zurück.. sitzkomfort für mich der horror.. in der Tarragon hab ich massenhaft platz, legspace, beide schultern, und ich komm mit dem headset nicht ans dach :))
@@madundderleutnant Das sind natürlich triftige Gründe. Mein Sohn und ich, wir sind auch in der 100Kilo Gewichtsklasse bei 1,85cm und 1,90cm. Spricht natürlich dann auch für Tandem.....

not faster than with the edge performance EP912STi turbo motor (but with constant speed propeller and 'on level')

the UL520T is too heavy for this aircraft. performance is like the EP912STi - but those Edge Performance Engines break - so did mine!
Sag' mal warum hast Du nicht den Turbo-Normalizer Motor eingebaut ? Zu teuer, schwer oder kommst Du nicht hoch genug ?
