The BBC anchor shot so many accusations against China, but when it's turn for the Chinese ambassador to talk, he kept interrupting and switching subjects, to left little room for the Chinese ambassador to rebunk those false accusations. Seriously, before the ambassador had a chance to explain, he either interrupted or move to another accusation. It was not an interview, it was a judgement.

@@WalkerStG look mate, I get it it is HARD TALK, not sure what is your definition to have a HARD TALK, to me, HARD TALK should be - the host raises some sharp and hard question for his guest, and let them explain or express his/her opinion properly.
But in this video, it is obvious that the program host has raised lots of questions but not give enough time for the guest to reply, also keep talking when the guest tries to explain or answer his question, and before the guest has replied to all his questions, he has through another question at the guest. This host is either lack of manner or he has a predetermined position when it is about China.
Not sure about you mate, but I won't call this program HARD TALK, it should have a new name HARD CRITSIM, by the way, he does not need any guest, he will be fine just by himself since he likes to give a long speech.

This has to be the most rubbish "interview" I have ever seen. An "impossible to talk" show, let alone "hard talk". It seems that Stephen was only interested to read out "conclusions" that he had collected from BBC producers and journalists, or even American counterparts, and kept moving on to another topic before his guest could finish responding. He actually said "I haven't finished" when the Ambassador tried to interrupt him, and yet he kept on interrupting his guest all the time. It's a sad day for the British public, we are funding the BBC to produce this kind of rubbish.

It's more like he's trying to get the audience to think like him by constantly asking questions,When the guest gave his opinion, the journalist immediately retorted and interrupted the conversation. Then he raised other questions. Why did such a program invite guests? He did not adopt and respect the ideas of the guests.Why would you invite someone else to the show? It's just to reinforce your audience's belief in your own unique ideas and opinions. The BBC doesn't respect democracy and freedom of thought at all, which is a bit of brainwashing.

In HardTalk, the interviewee does not have to feel offended when interupted by Stephen, sometimes it means "I see", but he could not make any endorsement on your views on TV, so he skip this question and approch for more important questions. But if he keeps asking one topic, that is definitly not a good signal, he and the audience won't buy that answer. Am I right about his subtext?

First of all, the interviewer obviously has shown no respect to his guest by constantly interrupting. The diplomat from China showed his diplomatic decency.
Secondly, it is disturbing how the interviewer cramps a list of ideas or comments that are advocated by the western-media into one question and would not listen to the answers. Instead, it seems to me that the interviewer is just trying to state opinions but does not want to receive any response except agreement on what he said. Then what is the point of having a conversation with an expert if you have no interest in their opinions or listening to the facts?
Thirdly, asking questions based on assumptions instead of facts. The interviewer obviously has an agenda of humiliating the guest by throwing all the negative comments he can pull out from the internet to "attack" or force the interviewee to surrender. In the very end, he tries to reinforce the idea that China wants to take over US's position as the leading player worldwide by repeating the statement even after the interviewee's answer,. ...
Lastly, citing Mike Pence? A senior government official? Are you actually kidding me? Since when Mike Pence is a reliable source of information? I see how the interviewer wants to pull out a senior government official from the western world who has made negative comments on China, but Mike Pence? Try Donald Trump next time, so people can better see what you are trying to do here omg.
