I mean, the other Spectres videos have been great, but this one is astounding in how well it supports the themes of the song. This entire specters album is just lovely. This song especially touched my heart. A lot of the Specters songs have, but this one is special. I don’t have great vision, and even though I’m quite a whiles away from blindness, the notion of not being able to see the world frightens me. This song really put that into perspective for me, helping me I guess come to terms with it. Caitlin a while back also helped with this, with its focus being on a blind little girl really touching me in a similar way. Many of your songs, Lupin, have done that for me, and for others. Keep on doing your best man.
I really like this song! The lyrics clearly convey the uncertainty and fear of the inevitable future that can’t really be prevented. It’s like, you know it’s coming, but don’t really understand what it’d feel or be like when it does, no matter how much you think about it - that’s my personal interpretation. The melodies are really calming, yet there’s a certain sadness in them that makes it sound sweet? Heck, that’s a terrible description, but it’s all I can think of 😅 I can’t wait for the album to be released!!
I sat here too long trying to word this and youtube went to the next video before I could finish. Admittedly my eye sight isn't as bad as it used to be, but from ages 5-17 I needed stronger and stronger glasses faster than my parents could afford them (I was the kid in the front of class that would have to walk up to the chalkboard just to take my notes down). Probably the only reason I haven't "needed" new glasses is because I haven't been able to afford the cost to go to the doctors since then. During my childhood my mom taught me how to use my other senses, in the case I lost my vision completely. She was supposed to be blind by age 30, she's 47 now and still can see with glasses. Docs don't know why. But she feared I'd follow in her genes. I still fear that, which is why I've tried to learn braille. I'm a writer, so I can understand the fear of not being able to do what you love. I guess all of this is to say: thank you.
