      Enlightening and entertaining as always, Cash!
      Funny story behind that tall building nearby you called "weird". It was built recently and there was a lawsuit over it during construction. Local advocates claimed it illegally built higher than its air rights allowed. At one point, a judge ruled that the top 20-or-so floors had to be removed! Luckily that was overruled!
      P.S. you missed Solid State Coffee in the neighborhood tour (I think it might be on the same block). It's like getting coffee in a joint designed by the set designers of the movie "2001".

    Another gorgeous place which most of us mortals cannot afford. It has so many walk in closets it is mind-bending. Only a rock star or an acting celebrity can afford this sweet place. Again, it fuels my every girly housing fantasy.
    I would enjoy the surrounding neighborhood and all it has to offer, including that Japanese Street Fair, the Museum of Natural History, and a short trip to Zabar’s, the Opera, the Ballet, and concerts.

  • @sinash

    Ha! I'm unfamiliar with a Japanese Street Fair. I must keep that in mind. I'd enjoy that! BEAUTIFUL townhome to such a point that there are no words for it. I loved those stove/range bars, that kitchen nook, and WINE FRIDGE! I would have loved to have seen what this looked like prior to the gut renovation but this is a renovation that I definitely like! But... WOWEE! $26M!!! I'm sure it's priced correctly but I don't think I could ever spend that type of money for a NYC townhome. Instead (while watching this) I was jealous of the Designers that did this job and the Real Estate Agents who will get a HUGE commission once it sells!

      Google Japan Fes in NYC for locations throughout the city during the year. You don't remember last year (I think) when Cash did a video around CPW & the Natural History Museum for the Japan Day Parade? Knew you would love that wine fridge! I really like that they kept the front facade intact. Totally didn't expect the interior! Good thing there's an elevator bcuz those stairs would be vertigo time for me. I like it but I think yesterday's was better

    • @sinash
      @sinash Рік тому +1

      @@MamaCarola1 THANKS! I sure will do. I'm sure that I'll enjoy it! No, I don't recall whatever Cash did last year. Although, I do enjoy his content, unless it is something design/solution related or an outstanding idea/concept (for example, the two that ran a plant store out of their apartment, etc) I don't tend to remember. Although I do like this property that is featured here today (which is very rare because I usually don't like gut renovations--as if these people would care what I think...) I preferred yesterday's feature much more too. I just felt such a Frank Lloyd Wright design influence and it did in some way remind me of Wright's "Mrs. Clinton Walker's House" work. Should you have an interest in understanding what I see there are a few short videos on UA-cam that profile that particular house and design. Yesterday's fare just felt a tad bit homier and more comfortable. BUT this one ain't too far off! I KNOW that I could be QUITE comfortable here and easily adapt to it!

    • @MamaCarola1
      @MamaCarola1 Рік тому

      @@sinash Two kitchens make it easier to keep kosher. That's a real luxury. Having them on two separate floors though.... Most people have two refrigerators and two stoves/ovens if they have the space and can afford it. You need a lot of cabinet space for two sets of utensils, cookware, dishes and so on. It can drive you nuts in a small space.

      I was thinking the same thing! WHile I can appreciate any style or decor if it's TASTEFULLY done, I lean towards Traditional homes and ornate Victorians. I wonder what type of fireplace mantels this had, crown moldings, wainscotting etc prior to reno???? THAT is more my speed but this place is gorgeous and very high end finishes and fixtures. Often modern deco looks "cheap" or too simplistic, but they nailed the design and look on all levels of this home.

The only difference to this kitchen is, that mine has a blackened Granit countertop (Nero Assoluto) and the appliances are all from Gaggenau. Even the inside colors of the kitchen drawers are the same. Btw. I am from Germany. Oh and that Miele dishwasher is top notch. I use it nearly every day. 😆😅 Though my house isn't worth that much. The success of the NY Brownstone is that it can be adapted to current lifestyles. An intact unrenovated Brownstone would be practically unusable. There might be two bathrooms, there would be several tiny separate bedrooms that would have been for servants. The kitchen would be a small, dark and cut off, most likely in the basement, food getting sent up by dumb waiter.
      It goes without saying that the wiring probably couldn’t recharge your phone without starting a fire, and if the toilets did flush, the water closet the toilet was stuck in would not have any kind of spa quality.
      This one’s unusual because it’s been kept as a single family home, most Brownstones have been modified and successfully housing people from all walks of life for over 100 years, that’s pretty good architecture.

      @@IanForsythWestCoast I've seen many brownstones that were not utterly destroyed the way this one was.
