  • In this episode, I am traveling to Deqin County which is the place to see the holiest mountain for Tibetan Buddhism called Kawa Garbo. Several attempts have been made to climb this peak, but no one succeeded until eventually climbing was restricted.
    On my way to Dequin, I am traveling along side the Jinsha River Valley which has a very unique topography, greenish on one side, and quite arid on the other side. The altitude gets up to 5000 meters and I am riding along side a snow kept surrounding. I met some very hospitable people along the way that were very helpful and even invited me for lunch...
    Join me on this adventure from Yunnan to Tibet 🎬

    Yan. Seeing some of the horrible propaganda videos about China whether you realize it or not you are an ambassador for your country showing people all over the world aspects of rural life and a colorful and diverse culture. The people who
    follow your travels have their eyes and hearts opened with each new experience. My wife, who is Chinese, and I, both watch and enjoy every episode. Keep doing what you are doing as long as you enjoy doing it.

    The 1991 accident was catastrophic, resulting in the deaths of all 17 members of the climbing team. Over the next 30 years, the bodies of 16 individuals were found, along with diaries written by the victims. The diaries mentioned hallucinations of phantoms, and sounds of women and babies crying outside the tents, likely deathbed illusions.
    Despite opposition from the Tibetan locals, the Sino-Japanese joint climbing team insisted on advancing toward the sacred mountain. When the locals heard that the team planned to climb Kawagarbo Peak, they gathered in groups to block the mountain pass. Nevertheless, the climbing team circumvented them and secretly entered the area.
    Subsequently, the government enacted laws prohibiting further climbs of this snow-capped mountain.

    • @rongwu-sj9ws
      @rongwu-sj9ws 3 дні тому +11

      Strangely, the 17 climbers perished less than 200 meters from the summit, but years later, their bodies were found at the foot of the mountain, possibly due to some glacial movement. A chilling line in one of the victims' diaries reads: "They are coming. If we don’t leave now, it will be too late."

And suddenly we were in barren mountains, goats on the road. Enjoying, sitting with you on the saddle of the scooter, and only at 7:03. And together with you, I am looking forward to see the snow cladded holy mountain... Thanks, sweet friend, for being again our eyes in areas where we will never come. The 1997 attempt to climb Kawagarbo peak of Meili snow mountain is the second largest mountain disaster in history. A barrage of paranormal events were recorded by both the Chinese and the Japanese sides. One week after the disaster, a Japanese rescuer flew in and attempted to find his best friends. Later he himself was rescued alone, but he talked about an imaginary Japanese person accompanied him and he took a diary. Since the person was imaginary, the diary was nowhere to be found. The Japanese rescuer also talked about seeing long black hair waving in snow. He thought it was the body of the sole female Japanese climber. But it was the entire back of head skin, with nobody anywhere. The back of her head skin with hair was frozen solid and it fell off. Surprisingly, the diary together with the remains of the perished climbers were found 7 years later at the foot of the peak. The diary wrote about hearing women and children crying. The last few pages were removed by authority. Now look at the majestic Kawagarbo peak again starting at 23:40.

    It's interesting to get views of the mountains in northern Yunan, which I haven't seen. I know some of those in Sichuan (further to your east is Gonga Shan 7500 m - not far from you here, as the crows fly). I hope you have a safe journey on the next leg.
