Ill look at if you wish. I am a certified electronic technician. just retired. Most times a good cleaning will get it going and clean the points....yes it has points.
Are most of these components similar in a 1965 Impala? I need to replace a turn signal bulb and fix the clock also. How hard is it to take off the speedo cable from the back of cluster?
wow. looks like i'm looking at my car. I will tell you I ended up taking the dash BACK out again to use BRIGHTER bulbs. I ended up getting LED lights. much brighter. next time I go down to the shop I'll send you the ones I used.
Took it out of cluster, looks like you did that according to the pix. Then I took the backside of the clock off. Look for the solenoid "very small" Look for what looks like a set of points. I had a small wire that goes to solenoid was broken. I soldered it back and then it started working but not all the time. I then had to take one of my wife’s fingernail files and cleaned the points. What the points do is saves on the battery from running ALL the time so, what happens is when the points make contact the solenoid will KICK the spring out far enough for it to run down to where the points make contact again. CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN……good luck!!
All I really did was use pressured air to get any dust and dirt. Then I used light machine oil (like sewing machine oil). Also, use the caption to get writing and you can also slow the video down. Good luck.
Excellent video. Thank you

I ordered a led version of 194 bulbs to go into my dash, I was wondering how you tore the clock apart?
