The obsidian dice is excellent when you use it on a temporary permanent buff. So Tipsiness stacks are permanent works for the run, and can be replaced prior to the final boss with no loss at all. Same with potions being permanent, or infusions being permanent. So if you take one of those early you just use the dice on that one before the final boss and you’ll get stronger for it.

So where else can you get whetstones? I watched the stream and it seemed like the only place you got them was the stinkin' tavern knight. Do they come in those gift boxes of "consumable that is not a potion or infusion? You rarely go to those rooms; so I haven't seen those boxes much.

They can come out of those rooms that give something other than a potion or infusion, gift boxes, and they can also be bought in shops!

You can also find Djinn event and choose power - it will instantly max out your weapon to +4.

Ive played with both.
Lightning definitely kills megadeath faster bcuz of how much he moves.
Ice obliterates rooms.
