Many people are probably gonna hate on me for this, but I thoroughly loved this movie. It was just a fun time watching it, the story got me intrigued, it’s currently a huge inspiration for a few of my own productions, and somehow the first raptor jump-scare got me intrigued theaters 💀 The ending got me a bit teary-eyed, too. I do appreciate this movie for what it is. I still do remember when I got into a huge phase for this movie just to figure out what these species were meant to be, (and I also tried finding any behind the scenes footage on the animals or even early concept art, and I still wanna try making 3D models of those things)
I love your passion about this movie! I know I gave a lot of shit for this movie, but I did actually enjoy it. Its awesome that you were inspited by it!
YAY NEW DINOSAUR UA-camR 🎉🎉🎉🎉 I can’t wait for the next one, I don’t know if you have any plans for your future videos but it would be cool to see a breakdown of the dinos in the Weird Birds twitter arg. Its one of the few dinosaur media Ive seen with feathered dinosaurs.
Yknow, if this movie was smart to use actual scientific accurate dinos with minor artistic touches? Alot of the scenes would actually be really haunting, bone chilling even. Sure the general audience dont really find them "scary", a shame really, but this movie could have showed that by presenting these creatures as actual animals that don't need to look scary to be scary, like we tend to forget that bears are some of the feared and respected animals in nature despite looking like giant fat dog. I mean sure, wouldnt fix the overall quality of the movie, buy hey atleast dinosaurs would be applaudable.
I definitely agree. Instead of treating dinosaurs as an action/ movie monster, i wish some horror elemnts would be thrown in. I saw a clip of a raptor in the dark and the way its eyes glowed creeped me out!
I didnt think of it too much....aliens are stranded on earth, trying to go back. Sure its earth, but i just assumed it was a parallel version of earth where everything was slightly different
The dinosaur stuck in the tar is quite probably not jakapil despite it's size. Though jakapil was discovered in 2012, it was only described the same year this movie came out. I don't think that's enough time for them to find out about jakapil, model it, animate it and render it for the final movie.
You know I had thought about that while making this. In the behind the scenes for VFX video, the scene with Jackapil was a completely different dino. I think they maybe changed it with VFX last second
@@SaurLoserOrginally it was intended to be a three legged ankylosaurus, then during the production hell this film went trough it changed to a trex anky combo due to test audiences saying they wanted “more carnivores”. Notably in promo material the directors said they were constantly updating eachother on new dinosaur species. So it’s not entirely impossible for it to be a last minute change to Jakapil as well. (Wow i sure am leaving a lot of paragraphs in this comment section)
@@NateAtNight17 I just finished the part 1 of your video! Holy shit its sooooooo good. Im overwhelmed by how great it is! Thanks for doing such a good job at telling the story!
@SaurLoser I didn't even realize I ommited whole words in my comment and dared to complain.. 😅 Don't take it to seriously - it's nitpicky stuff for the most part, stuff I'm sure you're actually well aware about but making a video like this just requires so much time and effort that something might slip through sometimes - it certainly would with me.. 😅 I'm happy to support a fresh new paleo channel that I enjoy and look forward to what you will come up with next - all the best and greetings from Berlin (where the world largest sauropod skeleton is fully mounted on display, our iconic _Giraffatitan brancai_ 😎)!
The dinosaur design in 65 was very well done. But the four legged dinosaur prostocucaus I thought they went extinct during the Triassic period. It’s possible they evolved to the Cretaceous period
They supposedly did, but there is some conflicting theories about it due to the lack of fossil evidence. I wish they would have stuck to one time period tho
15:15 in case you are not making a joke: This was a thought experiment for the book "All Yesterdays" in which they tried to compare how we reconstruct extinct animals (just slap some muscle and skin on there but keep prominent features of the skeleton visible) to what modern animals and their interiors look like. For that, they reconstructed multiple modern animals the way we would do it with extinct animals. For example, they reconstructed a cow that way, and since it turned out pretty slim, they conclude that it must have been a fast running animal. They are trying to demonstrate that we can't know everything and that it is okay to do more educated speculation. Awesome video btw!
Ok. Well made video but I have some addendums. Your claims of the weird armored theropod that gets murked within half a minute being a Jakapil. While it does resemble it and the filmmakers did say they looked at the latest fossil discoveries, I severely doubt they cared enough to properly depict what it actually was. They probably saw some stupid headline that said "T. REX RELATIVE WITH ARMOR" and just assumed it was that. A T. rex with armor. Given the fact that it was very likely supposed to be a three-legged Ankylosaurus baby that was cut out due to negative test screenings, they probably just needed a quick model replacement and just so happened to see what a Jakapil looked like and thought "well, we're lazy enough, let's just slap a T. rex head on it." And your claims of the four-legged Rex being a Fasolosuchus... There is no evidence of this. The storyboards for the film outright say and depict it as a regular T. rex, so it's probably just supposed to be a four-legged Rex. Speaks volumes about how creative they are that a T. rex with longer arms is scarier than two T. rexes attacking you at once. They may as well have just stuck in Godzilla if they were gonna make up stuff. And honestly, this is just a pedantic point, but the title is a borderline misnomer. It should say "completely wrong." It's very clear the filmmakers did not care about a proper Hell Creek depiction, let alone the Maastrichtian in general, to get them right for their film. Implying otherwise would be misinformation.
I definitely see that with the jackspil! As for fasolosuchous that makes me a bit sad lol. I honestly thought after watching the movie thats what they were going for. As for the title i definitely should go harder next time, i just didnt want to come off as super mean out of the gate. Thank you for sharing some info and i hope you will be around to check out the next video!
This video made me appreciate this movie more. While I have a semi-expansive knowledge on dinosaurs, I didn't recognize quite a few species and just assumed that they were made up for the film. But actually learning their real-life counterparts made me want to revisit the movie.
Probably because he is wrong , jakapil for example was released to the public when the movie was ending produxtion and there is no evidence anywere that the final thing is falosuchus
although the first reconstruction of Jackapil was released on August of 2022, I still believe this is Jackapil in the movie. If you look at the behind the scenes of 65 VFX video, The tar scene has a completely different dino in it. I think they VFX'd it in last minute. As for Fasolasuchus, there is no direct evidence from the studio confirming it. However, I think based of it's size and quadrupedal movement they were basing their design off of Fasolasuchus. I love to hear your opinions though!
Love the video! Just seems that a few things are off, mainly pronunciation of some names like quetzalcoatlus. Also at 32:20 you mentioned scutellosaurus but showed an image of a pachycephalosaurus. Besides that, great video! keep it up
You are awesome, i appreciate you calling out some of the mistakes so I can improve! Also i took like 10 takes with quetzalcoatlus, still stuggled. I hope you will be around for the next one! Im trying to be as accurate as possible
15:15 no that’s a speculative piece of art showing how future people would draw animals of today with limited evidence and not taking into consideration the bulkiness of animals It’s from the book All Yesterdays Also none of the creatures are “mostly right”, every design is butchered into lousy creature designs.
So i've been told! It seems everyone knew that except me lol. And yes I would agree with you, I just didnt want to seem too rude out of the gate. I'm definitely gonna be more critical in the future
I’m so glad I have another long form dinosaur video essayist to listen to, I hope this video and your channel blows up. Also you sound a lot like Uncle Dane from TF2 which is a plus in my book.
if you need a handgun to be an effecient club when you run out of ammo get the hi point 45 caliber. its like holding a cast iron skillet that shoots fire then when its empty its a cast iron skillet but more convenient to strike with due to slightly less wind resistence. you can even throw it.
This flick was decent IMHO (👍). _Unlike_ much of the paleo-community, I for one don't really mind the 'monster-ification' of the Mesozoic creatures; the way I see it, their designs reflect how Mills and Koa - who _are_ *alien* visitors - see them (if that makes sense).
I definitely took a bit of liberty there, I had narrowed it down between a couple different species. Honestly Dromaesaur would have probably been a slightly better choice, but I decided to go with Pectinodon.
Not a great movie but I imagined that the dinosaurs shown weren’t all known species and things like giant enemy quadruped were speculative species that just didnt have any fossil remains.
It's such a novel idea, it's such a shame it sucks ass, it was dull, colorless, and devoid of any charisma. Even if it had accurate dinosaurs, it would have sucked.
I'll never watch this movie because of the way the dinosaurs are depicted. In particular the quadrupedal thing that most people will think is a T-rex on all fours 🙄.
I hate to be negative, especially on someone’s first vid, but was this video written by AI or something? Some segments have really odd wording and there’s a lot of incorrect things in the video, not to mention the complete lack of actually addressing how unbearably innacurate the film 65 is itself. And while it is good to see more people discussing this film I’d recommend working on the structure of the vid. Less stops to talk about random facts that add nothing to the content itself. Other then that, the wonky pronunciations, and the occasional logistical issues with some of the things said, pretty good start
Hey, you are not being negative and I really need feedback to improve. No, this was not written by AI. I am new to script writing so perhaps thats why some of the word choice seems weird. If you could, can you timestamp what you thought was weird? I have been shown some of the things I was incorrect on, and know that I strive to be as accurate as possible going forward. I see that perhaps I was to leinent with the movie, and I should start calling it out more how I see it. As for the structure, I will be expirmenting a bit with what works. I really appreciate your feedback, and I hope you will be around for the next one!
The movie was fun. Also, i don't think every species of dinosaurs fossilised (or has been discovered) so in my opinion you can make up a dinosaur for a movie. Maybe it existed, maybe not. Adam Driver is a good actor, but sadly most of his movies i have seen suck.

Many people are probably gonna hate on me for this, but I thoroughly loved this movie. It was just a fun time watching it, the story got me intrigued, it’s currently a huge inspiration for a few of my own productions, and somehow the first raptor jump-scare got me intrigued theaters 💀
The ending got me a bit teary-eyed, too.

@@SaurLoser Oh my god I love The Dinosaur Project, cant wait!
the first jumpscare had made me actually scream when i was watching it in the cinemas
I can totally see that, it fits with the the movie
@@SaurLoser and I honestly liked the more lizardy take with these dinos imo
Im glad I know now! Also you are 100% right about it having a trex head thing. I just double checked and like wow its so bad

@Idk-e9l9h Oh the irony.
Words have meanings btw.
Great stuff man i cant wait to see what other dino media you cover.
Thank you I really appreciate it! I'm already working on the next one

Awesome! Thank you so much!
Great video, love the editing.
Thank you! I hope you like the next one too!
Yea i messed up on that one, thank you for letting me know!
19:17 A tail spike from an anky? I think you meant to say stegosaurus
Yeah, I meant to say shoulder spike from anky. But now that I think about it, a tail spike from a stego would have been the most accurate
26:24 the only reason why I don't like 65, is because there's no Spinosaurus
I would have loved to see that as well
The creature design already sucked, imagine how butchered Spino would’ve looked
Very true
Even though the dinosaurs are inaccurate, I still like them! Pretty cool
I have to admit, they are pretty dope
if Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter was a movie
Given the fact that it was very likely supposed to be a three-legged Ankylosaurus baby that was cut out due to negative test screenings, they probably just needed a quick model replacement and just so happened to see what a Jakapil looked like and thought "well, we're lazy enough, let's just slap a T. rex head on it."
And your claims of the four-legged Rex being a Fasolosuchus...
29:35 random Cecilia Immergreen for size comparison
only the most accurate size comparisons on this channel!
9:11 how do u get Parasaurolophus out of this thing
It has a duck billed mouth, with a prominent crest. That narrowed it down for me, so after some research my best guess was Parasaurolophus
The baboon depiction I think was from a book that illustrates what animals would look like if aliens tried to recreate them
Yes it is, I was bamboozled.
I’d struggle to say this is a dinosaur movie
Would love to watch more archeology/dinosaur stuff I’m looking into a career for archeology so would love all the info I can get!
Thank you for your support, I hope I can keep you informed and motivated!
One thing I will say about this film is that I did very much like the Fasolasuchus' design, reminded me a lot of Indominus Rex and Indoraptor
It honestly looks atrocious for a fasolasuchus. Looks more like an innacurate T rex with front legs than an innacurate fasolasuchus

Did Kylo Ren just crashlanded on Dagobah?
How the star wars series should have gone lol
15:15 no that’s a speculative piece of art showing how future people would draw animals of today with limited evidence and not taking into consideration the bulkiness of animals
It’s from the book All Yesterdays
Also none of the creatures are “mostly right”, every design is butchered into lousy creature designs.
So i've been told! It seems everyone knew that except me lol. And yes I would agree with you, I just didnt want to seem too rude out of the gate. I'm definitely gonna be more critical in the future

if you need a handgun to be an effecient club when you run out of ammo get the hi point 45 caliber. its like holding a cast iron skillet that shoots fire then when its empty its a cast iron skillet but more convenient to strike with due to slightly less wind resistence. you can even throw it.

Yes thats true, I totally screwed up on that
This flick was decent IMHO (👍). _Unlike_ much of the paleo-community, I for one don't really mind the 'monster-ification' of the Mesozoic creatures; the way I see it, their designs reflect how Mills and Koa - who _are_ *alien* visitors - see them (if that makes sense).
wow that really puts the movie into a new perspective, I gotta watch it again under that light to see how it is.
@@SaurLoser Cool (😎). Yeah, I personally feel a lot of people missed that about this film when it came to the creature designs.
I kinda thought that raptor specie was either a deinonychus or Dromaeosaur itself
I definitely took a bit of liberty there, I had narrowed it down between a couple different species. Honestly Dromaesaur would have probably been a slightly better choice, but I decided to go with Pectinodon.

It had so much potential too I thought it would finally be the accurate dinosaur horror we’ve been waiting for but nope
I'll never watch this movie because of the way the dinosaurs are depicted. In particular the quadrupedal thing that most people will think is a T-rex on all fours 🙄.
I know it's so silly
Fun vid man but could u not use ai images?
hey I appreciate it, what AI images are you referring too? I know some paleo art isn't accurate, but I don't think I used any AI images.
