We travelled to Nathula Pass on the second day of our Gangtok trip in a shared taxi that we had reserved from the Vajra taxi stand in Gangtok yesterday. It cost us Rs. 1100 per person and lasted the entire day. We started by going to Nathula Pass. Between Changu Lake and Nathula Pass, the road and surroundings were entirely blanketed with snow. There was also a lot of heavy ice over Nathula Pass. In the pass, you can view the boundary between India and China up close. It was a very remarkable experience. We visited the New Baba Mandir and Changu Lake on the way back. Following that, we drove back to Gangtok in the late evening.

Visiting Nathula Pass while in Gangtok is almost expected. The Nathula Pass, which is 55 km east of the capital, is well known for both its incredible natural beauty and its rich historical background. The Pass, which links Sikkim and the Tibetan Autonomous Region, is a branch of the Old Silk Road. The Nathula Pass retains its significance as the junction where China and India meet. It goes through Tsomgo Lake and was formerly a crucial commercial route connecting Tibet and India.
A protected area, the Nathula Pass is accessible to tourists six days a week, from Tuesday to Sunday. Mondays are still a closed day. However, a unique authorization is necessary to enter this Himalayan Pass. Foreigners are not permitted, and photography is prohibited completely. You can apply for this permission at the Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation. It is created by the Gangtok-based Sikkim Tourism Department. Additionally, you can ask a hotel or licenced tour operator to assist you with the process and obtain the permit. All you have to do is submit two passport-sized photos and a picture ID proof. The agency will tell you of the fees, and you must wait at least 24 hours to obtain the permit.
A glacial lake in the East Sikkim region of the Indian state of Sikkim, some 40 kilometres (25 miles) from the state's capital Gangtok, is called Tsomgo Lake. It is also referred to as Tsongmo Lake or Changu Lake. The lake, which is 3,753 metres (12,313 feet) above sea level, is frozen throughout the winter. The indigenous Sikkimese people have a tremendous respect for the lake's surface, which changes colour with the seasons. Buddhist monks made predictions after observing how the lake's colours changed. The name Tsomgo literally translates to "source of the lake" in the Bhutia language. It is made up of the two terms "Tso," which means "lake," and "Mgo," which means "head."
The steep mountains that encircle the lake are covered in snow in the winter. The lake's source is created as the snow cover melts in the summer. The lake, which occasionally freezes over until May during the winter,The lake is located on the Gangtok-Nathula route, about 40 kilometres (25 miles) from Gangtok. Additionally, the north side of the lake is skirted by the road to Nathu La. Only about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) east-northeast, but about 18 kilometres (11 miles) by road, lies the Chinese border crossing. All Indians visiting the area must obtain permits because the lake is situated in a restricted area. For international nationals, a specific permit is required. On November 6, 2006, the Indian Postal Service issued a commemorative stamp featuring the lake. It is one of the main tourist attractions of Sikkim, a state in the Eastern Himalayas, drawing about 3 lakh visitors a year. January through March is the ideal time to visit the lake.

আমরা মে মাসে গেছিলাম। নাথুলা ট্যুরের জন্য মাথাপিছু ১১০০ টাকা লেগেছিল । আর যদি আপনি টোটাল খরচ জানতে চান, তাহলে সেটা আপনি কিসে যাবেন আর কেমন হোটেলে থাকবেন তার ওপর নির্ভর করছে। আমরা দুজন গেছিলান, আমাদের পার হেড ১২০০০ মতো খরচ হয়েছিল, কারন আমাদের বাস ভাড়া ও হোটেল খরচ অনেকটাই বেশি পড়েছিল।
