How can you have only 21k subscribers? These aren't just great demos, but good music.
…because it ain’t just about subscriber counts.
Well, the main reason is because most if not all of his videos are in long formats which I much prefer. However, short videos and YT shorts in general are the WAY to increase your sub counts.
Damn man. That intro. Even my dog took note of that. Holy… just WOW. That was seriously good. That delay sounds great, and you do it justice. But, damn man, you threw down.
It's like an evolved Rubberneck (similar knobs!) with a lot of innovations and very high-end components. Sounds absolutely amazing.
Love your vids! Love how in-depth they are, and you really make every pedal you review shine. Bought the Limelight V2 and Longsword because of your vids.
Both very good choices. Longsword was a blast on this track and LL is a go to live drive for me all the time
@@markjohnstonofficial I absolutely love the Limelight. The Longsword is on the way right now, so haven't been able to try it yet, but really looking forward to it. I think there's a really good chance I`ll get the Citadel as well. Love EAE
@@markjohnstonofficial I also bought a limelight because of your review. Now I'm choosing between Citadel and Model Fet for the second gain stage.
This pedal is a masterpiece! The only thing that would prevent me from buying one is the lack of stereo, but i will say its such a good pedal that i would consider building a mono rig around it, or just putting it before my path turns into stereo. Really awesome pedal!
I had the impression of seeing Peter Green Young !
I have the original Sending. I can’t imagine it being any better.
How much overlap is there between the sending and the Thermae? Which core delay tone do you like better?
I also have the same question. Maybe a comparison between the two is in the malking?
Use two for stereo 💯
Well, in general the features seems to be fun indeed. However, I honestly don't find the actual delay sound very appealing, or let's say ear pleasing to me. There is a (for the lack of better terms) rather cold, maybe a little harsh tone to it that I can hear in all the other demos of the this pedal as well. I might be wrong but I'm assuming that it might have something to do with the SMD nature of the V2, as I can barely hear it in the V1.
Also, as I said even though the features seem to be handy, and useful in sound design stuff, but I can probably do fine without most of it. I mean the Colour knob sounds good, but not necessary to be honest. With a good preamp style (or proper preamp like Kingsley stuff) before your analog delay of choice, or even better, with your preferred preamp/OD pedal in the fx loop of your pedal (if your delay has such feature), you'd have way more versatility for sure.
The modulation sounds good, but so far I much much prefer the incredible Boss DM-101 modulation. DM-101 modulation just sounds so delicious and musical. The Sending modulation and all those extra features are fun I guess, but for proper pitch shifting on your repeats in the analog delay domain, as well as the weird (and usable) stuff I'd much prefer the Chase Bliss Thermae which is designed for such behaviours.
The clock noise as well is not for me at all as I don't find it musical in most cases. Maybe I can find some use for it when I need sort of an industrial, weird and indie sounds for video game sound design, and perhaps for some specific genre animations, which then I'd probably use my analog synths and plugins that'd do much much better job as such sounds anyway. And needless to say that with the help of an expression pedal and an external midi controller, you could get the same clock noise from most if not all the modern analog delays out there.
Anyhow, I think it's a fine pedal, but when you compare the sounds, to my ears most of the extra sounds on the Sending are just gimmick and go under the 'sometimes use only' category. While for example the sounds you could get on the Fairfield Meet Maude, Boss DM-101, and Asheville ADG-1 sound very unique, mostly very versatile (especially the Boss) while not trying to be the end of all delays... Most importantly I don't hear that cold, and harshness core delay sound from the above mentioned pedals either. I'm still baffled as to what makes that coldness tone in some analog delay pedals. To me, many of the modern analog delays suffer from it sadly.
I have been playing around extensively with the Sending V2 next to a Thermae and Pladask Taken for the last two days. They all sound amazing, and I can say that the Sending V2 is very impacted by both the filter and color knobs. You can get the cold delay sound you mentioned (almost clangy and industrial) or a very warm and soft delay depending on where those knobs are at. I would say that it is the most versatile of those 3 delays (when you look at the core delay tone, the Thermae can go insane with added pitch shift and modulation features). It took a bit of dialing in, but I can say it stands up the other top tier delays on core delay sound (Plus you get a ton of versatility and utility features). TL:DR- yes, it can be cold, but also dialed in for a warm sound!
@@streetcakedesign651 Thanks, well I also have almost all of the analog delays in the market. From Suhr Discovery to the EH big box DMM, to the recent DM101 by Boss, etc... However though, features and all the fancy stuff are secondary to me, and the core delay sound and specifically the way the repeats decay is the most important aspect of a good analog delay. I'm going to try the Sending whenever I can find one here, but based on all the demos I've heard on YT so far, my expectations sound wise isn't very high. Strangely this Sending pedal reminds me of the sound I was getting from the Suhr Discovery. To my ears what many people name 'warm sounding' is simply dark and muffled. Warm sounding is what you can get from the Jam Pedals Dlay Lama for example, or from the Boss DM-101. Or from Fairfield Meet Maude. By simply darkening the delay sound it doesn't make it warm.
@@konnektlive I can understand what you are saying. I can say that the sound that you hear from UA-cam does not do the real thing justice, and the rest of your setup probably plays a big role in the overall tone, but maybe saying it can have a darker sound is more accurate than “warmer”. For what it is worth, I really like it’s sound and think it is a great delay.
@@konnektlive I was about to pull the trigger on a Sending V2 till a read this comment, I was going to replace my Delay Llama Xtreme with it but this "warm character" sound of the llama is something I dont want to miss. I thought id get that same flavor but with some added features. I think the Llama Xtreme is the best analog delay dollar/value at the moment. I just wish it had a nice sounding preamp
@@albertotarazi5437 Why would you need the preamp inside your delay though? I have literally almost all the analog delays ever made, and these days I'm using Boss DM-101 almost exclusively, it's that good. And yet it doesn't have a preamp!
I'm using my Kingsley preamps and OD/Boosts before it and it just works wonders! The good thing with a high headroom analog delay such as the DM-101 is that they won't breakup at all unless you want them to, which is insanely good for recording.
So we have the new Boss DM 101, the Asheville Music Tools ADG-1, and now this. Renaissance for analog delay.
Absolutely. The market for analog delay is the best it’s ever been. Thermae, sending, delay llama extreme. It’s insane
Oracle is great too!
@@michaelbdougherty Also designed by John. I like the voicing on the Oracle so much, but miss modulation, and immediately snapped up a Sending today.
Lmao Strymon from the ropes with Brig.
Another engaging and informative master class. Killer approach to the Sending. V2.
