- IS THIS THE BEST SKOOLIE WE'VE EVER MADE?
My name's Chuck, I've been professionally converting buses for the last 7 years and was director of operations for a bus company before that.
IN THIS VIDEO, I'll give an in-depth tour of the best bus we've made yet, covering the systems, design, and features of this top of the line conversion.

Hello, Chuck,
I'm very impressed with the design, layout, and execution of all of the features "worked-into" this conversion. The 16-inch 'roof raise' revises the center of gravity of this bus, however, while the CG has changed, it's been modified in such a way that the change is "primarily vertical, but remains centered". This will not affect the handling characteristics of the vehicle in the least, and the "riveting of the vertical columns" should be far more than adequate when considering the importance of transferring the roof's load to the frame of the bus.
I am a retired industrial engineer, and spent most of my working life supporting avionics manufacture at the vendor level. I must also confess, that a friend who is an attorney, has contracted with me to serve as a consultant in the "Texas Skoolie Conversion Controversy". Prior to five weeks ago, I had no idea whatsoever that the concept of the "Skoolie" ever existed.
Best of luck with your conversion business, and, please, continue to proliferate the "Skoolie Lifestyle" with examples of this level of quality workmanship! I need not say more.
All the best!
Man thank you so much for your affirmation and praise! Yeah that skoolie company is 😖
@@ChuckCassadyYT How can I buy a big bus like that, and big buses
What I love more that the build, which is amazing, is the joy he displays by just talking about his creation. I love to see that level of giddy excitement, especially in a job well done
Stunning example of the quality work you do, be very proud sir.
Beautifully done! We're retired custom home builders and appreciate the thought, effort and design on this bus. Love the fact you included toe kick cabinetry where you could too. Keep up the awesome work.
thank you so much! means a lot from fellow craftspeople! Subscribe and stick around, id love to see more of your comments in my channel :)
Now that I've finished all of Lyss' posts I'm excited to go through and watch all of yours! I'm sure with a little time your followers are going to take off like crazy! You have very real talent and such a fun, kind spirit Charlie. Thanks for being here!
Thank you for such kind words!
Best Skoolie conversation ever!!! I would live in it.
Amazing Schoolie... Hard to imagine how much work and time must have been spent. That raise is amazing.
Thank you! Lots of hourS
Awesome job on the bus. So many nice unique features that I’m sure the owners will enjoy Love your sense of humor and a great tour. Thanks for the entertainment, and I really wish I had a pizza right now!!!😀
Me too!
Wow, Charlie! That is one of the nicest raised roof conversions I have ever seen. You definitely got my brain swimming, thinking about my build. Awesome work!
brain swimming is the objective!
Your cabinetry is amazing! Love love love the over sink drying rack. Red lighting is 🔥
I just have a few words … HOLY MOLY this bus build is absolutely AWESOME 👏! Love it! Great job 👍!
Thank you!
I like the push open door openers on the drawers. The dish draining system in the upper cabinet I used before back in 1982 in Italy. Nice to see it here in America.
The engineering, design and layout are immaculate. I am personally amazed at your talents and skills. I am after such an off grid hunter. One where I can be concealed as can be and yet hunt from such an operation as this. Again my compliments to you Chuck. Sam
Chuck, that's an AMAZING build! I'd have loved to see Chrome Yellow Shop carrying on. One day, I want one almost exactly like that!
Thank you so much!
You should be proud of it! That's awesome! Excellent craftsmanship!
Amazing build. Watching this just makes you want to go out and live off the grid.
You can't have too many storage. The toe kick cabinets are just brilliant.
Thank you! Lots of work
Another beauty. The bunks and the back bedroom are so cozy, the kitchen with all the storage everywhere plus 2 spice racks, the dog’s nest, and the swivel driver’s seat make a fantastic use of the space. Only thing I would change would be to add some richer color into all that yellow-white expanse. Otherwise it is beautiful. Your team hit another one out of the park!
First time watching, best bus I have seen after watching so many videos. Insane.
Thank you!
Found my way here watching you build regretlyss’s buss. You do beautiful work my man. I’m excited you have your own channel and I’m looking forward to watching you change more lives.
Brilliant! Love seeing the work from the best in the biz 👏🏻
Thanks a ton! that is real kind of you brother!
youre a pretty damn talented person youself, you know
Wow! I wish I could afford a bus built like this fantastic build! No words!
Freaking Amazing! But that no surprise coming from the best in the business!!! Just absolutely amazing
Thank you Bill! Stay tuned for more like it!
Haha! You actually cracked a little chuckle outta me. I'm not amused by much, but you sir, won my thumbs up, save to playlist, AND subscribed all in one shot! Plus your build skills definitely helps with my future goals, so yeah, thank you for being you. Real Rad man with the plan!
Wow! Thanks for that, I really appreciate it, definitely trying to get a laugh and share
You are so hilarious 🤣 ! Keep going Charlie you are killing it you are doing great 👍
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂 love after watching the whole thing!!
thank you so much
Well there us no doubt, that was pretty impressive. Rachel can definitely construct and finish on the carpentry front.
she is so talented!
I am so frigging in love with a bus.
That Skoolie is rad. PR will give her a good chance to show off her prowess deep in the cut.
Well done and good narration/tour.
Thank you!
This is Beautiful and cleverly designed. Awesome!
AMAZING!!! The electric is beautiful! I love the custom Burkey filter
I drove pass the bus on I75 to Florida. Was showing the wife how cool it was.
What are the odds?! Nice
Your cabinetry skills and design I aspire to attain. I’m more of a metal worker and want to get into wood and your clean and simplistic style is something I hope to emulate in my build
Toe kick drawers! Epic . I had plans to build my cabinets without the waste of the toe kick space I will be incorporating that into my build. By far the best skoolie build I've seen.
Would even love to see another full tour of the bus after it's all set up, furnished and decked out by the owners. This is just the perfect buil, from the simplicity and minimalistic lines, the STORAGE, unique lay out and the insulation (fewer window) which actually looks like a house and not a bus, as skoolie owners mostly leave almost all windows original to the bus.
Hopefully you could reconnect to the owners, and contact them for a full tour of their amazing home.
Love that idea and it would mean a trip to Puerto Rico :)
@@ChuckCassadyYT oooh pretty please do it?
Pretty cool to see you and your work in my Google news feed. I remember that bus! It looks so good! Nice work Mr. Kern
That is awesome! Thank you
And what an awesome end product. You guys do it right!
You are definitely on it! You should check out a yacht show, see some great ideas and innovations that would definitely be useful in the future! I love the way you've used every available inch of space for retrofitting and storage! Beautiful, no,,,Art! I'm impressed!
Loved it! Thanks for sharing! Lots of clean lines and ingenious use of all available space. I’m sure the owners will love it too!
My god this is the Best built l’ve ever seen well done ❤️
Thank you!
The kicker drawers are a great idea. Huge save on wasted space.
Ok, that has everything and a TON of storage. I love this!
Storage is king!
I love how clean the power /utility set up. Berky idea is great too. As a female, I would suggest people not put a bunch of electromagnetics in the bedroom- wifi etc. There is major breast health risks over time, but hey, to each as their own :)
We roof raised 28" and I can't wait to use some of these ideas as well! Thanks for posting this, you should be proud, it's lovely!
You are the master of schooly builds!!!
thank you very kindly
Love the mid bus entry door and the layout! Did I miss where the rest of the family is going to be riding, or are seat belts not required in converted buses? I can't even imagine what something like this costs. I'm sure it's WAY over my price range!
There are 6 seatbelts in the couch!
This is engineered to the teeth and well thought out. I wonders how the client will choose to decorate the space.
100% amazing. My wife and I just got our school bus and just starting to remove the seats
Amazing Build as usual. Those drawers built into the toe kick is an
Amazingly clever idea. I’m not sure that I would have ever thought
of that. Your finished product is of exceptional quality..
MWP Cosby, Tn.
Thanks a bunch!
Very nice schoolie 👏👏👏
I hope there are guards in front of all the components under the master bed so the thinks do not ram into them - specially when on the road.
Yes, just imagine how much fun these people will have when the truck coming from the right hand side T-Bones them because you covered over the window.
Tell me you've never driven a coach bus without telling me you've never driven a coach bus, sweetheart
As soon as you opened the door I was impressed
Thank you!
@@ChuckCassadyYT I really enjoyed your ingenuity. Keep up the great work
Slow clap to progressive fast clap, hands raised, fist pumps, and hootin’ n hollerin’. Done did it again! Great job.
Hahaha thank you so much bud!
Woohoo..... Sums it up nicely!
Cheers!
how much does it cost.
?
@@melbawhite2614 if you have to ask, you can't afford it!
Wise words to live by
P.S. these are sold before they're built
Just wow! Great work guys 👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you!
Great Bill brother, well done!
WOW!!!! This skoolie is very cool!
Amazing! No doubt the best school bus conversion I’ve seen! Heck, why qualify Prevost has nothing on you guys! They go for glitzy and you go for warm and homey, which I prefer!!!
Thanks Don!
@@ChuckCassadyYT There is a channel, Enigmatic Nomadic, and Jaime is the host, he has a video with a gentleman named Lee with over 2 million view. Lee gives a tour of his DIY van build, and shares a lot of common sense philosophy when making van build decisions. The video is 5 years old and I thought you might enjoy it! With 2 million views he is doing something right!
Absolutely AMAZING!🥰
Hell of a bus conversion
thanks joe!
This was a really impressive build to see. I would have been tempted to put another of those cool shower doors in the toilet area personally, but maybe that's just because I'd hate to prevent access to the sleeping area while in the bathroom but I need privacy to use the toilet. 😅 Honestly, the amount of storage you packed on that bus is insane, though I'd be concerned with that much open shelving just because I'm messy, lol. Well done! 👏
I'm assuming the owners are planning on finishing the exterior later? Are they really planning to send it off to Puerto Rico? I'm a bit terrified to think of it on the island, mostly due to the fact that I know for a fact that the storms and hurricanes there can be fierce. 😯. Good luck to them!
Not a bad idea!
I love that the Berkey is off of the countertop!
Can’t believe I missed the premiere! Amazing work!
Beautiful build!
Beautiful job !!
Love this build amazing
Very nice conversion, and shown by Captain Jack Sparrow 😅. Very well executed!!
@chuck this looks beautiful bro it looks like an r,v inside
Looks awesome I wanted to get bus conversion done but it’s kinda over my head tho
If I have to read one more time that this is the best build ever.....!!!
Well stop reading it! Lol its all just to get attention but I also think my work is really tops. Have a great afternoon!
This is amazing charlie!!!
They're called _pocket doors_ here in the UK. Which is a bit daft because you'd need a huge pocket in your trousers to fit it in. ;)
Awesome bulid, sir. How much would this rig set me back if I wanted my own conversion done? Plus, what's the price of a school bus like the one here?
Thank you!
hahah man you got a laugh out of me. we arent building anymore but this is gonna be 120-170k
Beautiful work Charlie the owners will have years of comfort and fun living in such a work of art. Love the refrigerator what brand is it? And is it standard 110 volt or low volt?
I've been looking for one with the drawers that's not 30 or 36 inches wide that one looks like it's 24" wide.
Anyway thanks for the tour and great job.
Honestly I forget the model I'm sorry! Yes it was narrower and it is 120v. It's either and LG or a GE
As you went through the insides, I kept thinking he's gotta hit the rear soon, but it just kept going and going, ala the Energizer Bunny... maybe the Tardis of skoolies.
I was watching while eating ramen noodles but this is a cool build definitely no need to down size much there’s so much space.
Great as always. Charlie what is the part# / manufacturer / vendor for the latches on the toe kick drawers? Thanks for the great bus work and the great videos. 👍
they are sugatsune!
We're just in the imagining stage of our skoolie dream and have so many questions about planning the layout everyday operation, where to park, refill, recharge and so much more. We know some of what we want, but want to see real life examples. Is there a place to see different completed skoolies in person? Where do we find the conventions I see in so many youtube videos?
I guess what I'm asking is if there is a class or workshop for newbies that's not combing through thousands of hours of youtube. lol We live near Denver.
you can always hire me as a consultant for $70/hr. otherwise the build series im making is my attempt at sharing this all freely
@@ChuckCassadyYT Thank you. We will contact you when we get closer to buying a bus.
$70/hour is an absolute effin’ STEAL! Truly, that’s incredibly cheap for the value that you provide. Before you know it, you’ll be charging $400/hour for your consulting and you’ll STILL be worth every penny.
Book ‘im whilst he’s still cheap, guys. 🙌🙌🙌
Oh it's 100 now lol
amazing build! thanks.
Glad you like it!
all the toe kick storage im definelty borrowing the idea for my bus build, gonna have those everywhere, drawers on drawers on drawers
Hahaha love it
Very nice!
Would love to do the Puerto Rico thing too but... those hurricanes are only going to get worse unfortunately.
WoW, just love it very good and cool job.
Have you done a video on moving the door like that? Also what does something like that get for gas mileage?
Wow amazing.
Glad you think so!
I have driven school buses for years (WA state). I also drove charter buses and was a manager for a tour bus company. I find that the front engine buses seem to ride very loud with the engine right there. Do you find that to be true with what you've done in the front area? Having it covered with the boxed area that you installed... I'm concerned that box cover will get very hot from the hot engine. What an amazing build though! Beautiful work!!
Looks beautiful, but also like the visibility out the passenger side from the driver side is severely obstructed. Is that window too high?
Nope!
You’re awesome. ❤
Thank you
Marvalous job, but didn't you kind of forgot to paint the bus, it's a real patchwork blanket!
It’s like a cool rv tour full of dad jokes 😂😂 I had to subscribe
Thank you!
Impressive build..My recommendation would only be that the cabinets over the kitchen sink be set back a bit because it looks like you could hit your head trying to wash dishes. And is that a vent I see up there?
It's a balance trying to fit plate depth of 12"! There are two powered roof top vents on this bus
Love it great job 👍
"Work our way in, like layers of an onion." 🤣
Till there's nothing left but tears
@@ChuckCassadyYT so funny. Working on my shuttle now, in Albuquerque. Love this build, Thanks for sharing, great job!
I need this beautiful home please god make my dream come true l will ship this beautiful bus conversion to me here in Dublin 💙💙💙 love it so much
The propane cook-tops produce a lot of moisture , ever thought of induction cook-tops ?
Yes, we have used those before with good results! its a great bet
I noticed you didn't mention. this can be all yours for the low cost of 250,000.00 dollars and for another 10 grand toss on a vinyl wrap of your choice. nice job just a little stark white for me a lot of time in design.
we build what they want, not what we want
Gosh I love your work! Wanna fix my new every haha
I wish you would have interviewed the clients when they got there 3 hours later. Otherwise great video
Hello, Chuck. I was wondering what those area lights are on the bus visible at 2:30
Theyre rock lights
Perfect, thanks 😊
Amazing 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
@chuckcassidyYT how did you do the swivel air ride chair. Was this purchased this way?
nice!
I want this Bus! 😃🙃
