Tina Fey is so good playing as Sarah Palin, when they both are finally together in one stage, I almost couldn't identify which one is the real Sarah Palin.
Meghan McCain should be grateful that she got that job on the View and that she was spoofed on SNL. She has no skills or talent and only got the job because of her father.
Melissa McCarthy as Spicie was comedy gold, bc few identified the guy as being played by Melissa McCarthy. She plays rageful chip-on-the-shoulder sooo masterfully
Celebrities need to understand that impressions grab the funniest or most prominent thing about a person and exaggerate it! Laughter is the best medicine!!😂
True but it kind of depends on the quality of the impression tbh. I remember reading about a few celebrities which were pleased by one parody, e.g. refering to the style, movement, speech etc. while they were displeased by others.
Long past that w/ s n l USED to have some Great Stuff! They are JUST 'Slow-No-Laughs' anymore. I don't do drugs, so I don't watch it and laugh and drool while falling off the couch and having the 'Munchies' ~l o l
Belushi singing with Joe Cocker as Joe Cocker was a memorable moment early on in the show's history. I think the worst imitation, but still one of the funniest was Chevy Chase doing Gerald Ford - he didn't sound or look like him and still made it extremely funny.
The Kathy Lee Gifford one was hilarious!! But everything Kristin Wiig does is hilarious! I remembered Fred Aniston doing the blind guy walking in front of the camera thing, that had me laughing so hard!! It was hilarious!! Thanks SNL!!
Omg, Barbara Wawa still brings tears. Tina Fey doing Sarah Palin and Kristen Wiig doing Kathie Lee Gifford are the funniest impressions of their decade.
The funniest Baba Wawa Gilda Radner / John Belushi bit was the Godzilla interview. A hilarious Belushi in the Godzilla suit was really affectionate towards Baba. Rest in Peace Gilda Radner and John Belushi
I love that real people hate their impression/impersonations, make it more funny because, you should never take yourself seriously and if you do, these gags should be your breath of fresh air.
The only way for a celebrity to respond to an SNL parody is with good humor and a big smile. (Suze Orman did it really well.) Laugh along with the joke. Any other reaction just makes you look petty and small.
Gilda Radner did an impression of a local New York City television journalist known as Rose Ann Scamardella, but, in true SNL form, the character was called Roseanne Roseannadanna!
Thanks for the explanation. I'm an 80s kid so this was before my time and I didn't get why people were laughing at these clips. I guess if you saw the original newscaster it made sense? I'm from NY so many people (but certainly not everyone) spoke like her "character" IRL
An impression that perhaps was too good? Dan Aykroyd as talk show host Tom Snyder. It was so accurate, that guests on his own show told Snyder on the air that they couldn't take him seriously after seeing Aykroyd's impression of him. After his show was canceled, Snyder blamed Aykroyd for destroying his career.
This video is about SNL impressions, they name the person who is performing it. And Tina Fey was so spot on for 14 seconds I forgot that I wasn't watching the actual Sarah Palin.
I love how Lauren Boebert called Chloe Fineman a “no name actress.” The woman is on one of the biggest, longest-running shows of network television. That’s a pretty big name if you ask me
while it's understandable why politicians won't like being parodied, it is unfortunately part of their public-persona that they are very parodiable. But given the serious nature of Carole Baskin's claim to fame, poking fun at someone's death and implying the person being parodied is the one who caused it, or at least rumoured to be, will always be inappropriate. Plus in this case, regardless of whether she is guilty or not, any type of parody of her painting her in a negative light will affect the court of public opinion regarding the death of her husband, which isn't something you'd want to happen if you are the main suspect in a murder trial.
They should have had Tina Fey, Sarah Palin and Lisa Ann (who made the epic Nailin' Palin movie ) all on the stage. Now that would have been interesting.😁

Got old seeing all the mocking of the people on the RIGHT but never the left.
Maybe because Ultra Right will just scream & demand compensation, But The Ultra Left Would Burn The Studios Down, Proclaiming It's For "PEACE & LOVE, M🙄🙄🙄ERF🙄🙄KER!"
Leibowitz has always taken herself waaaaay too seriously. She's not exactly known in her social circles for being mellow and personable. She's always been hypersensitive about how she comes across in media. Which, of course, is ideal for parody. 😂😂😂
I would bet a large segment of SNL's audience didn't even know who she was before this segment. She should have enjoyed the exposure and possible increase in book sales and attention to her movie. As a fan of her work I appreciated seeing her portrayed. And if it were me I would have been flattered by how much more young and attractive Bowen is. They didn't even age up his skin.
@@russellgrosser-7677 her audience takes her way too seriously! If you look up appearances, people scold the hosts if they try to quip back at her at all. Like Fran is the only witty person in NYC (I'm in NYC and she is certainly witty and funny but she is not alone!)
Carol Baskin probably hated her impersonation cause it's accurate. Watch the interviews on tiger king show and she always spaces out during her comments
If you look at all the previous impressions (Phil Hartman as Reagan, Carvey as Bush, Hammond as Clinton, and Ferrell as W) the performers had to accentuate the characteristics of each one in order to turn them into caricatures. Donald Trump said he doesn't like people who get captured, made fun of a reporter with disabilities, has insulted the looks of numerous women. Even before he was POTUS, he had the temperament of a tantrum throwing child. If anything, Baldwin toned down the characteristics.
Some good and bad, as you'd expect. The Lebowitz was terrible, but I never cared for that cast member anyway. Fey as Palin is spot on. And I love Wiig as nutso Katie Lee.

I saw the skit, first. Then I started watching the news so I could see what Linda Tripp actually looked like. I laughed only because Linda didn't know how to keep a secret. How can anyone work for the Pentagon and NOT know how to be quiet?
Megan McCain was mad, because it was exactly how she behaved! She wasn’t the laughing stock of the country, it was the world! The entire world knows how ridiculous she is.
It wasn't though, which is why it falls flat. She regularly had 4 people talking over her telling her she's wrong then getting mad when she defended herself
To be fair to Barbara Walter's, she had killed herself to succeed in a business where women were not permitted to be anchors and rarely were taken seriously and she had just been given the evening news. So I get it.
No mention of Donald Trump he has been trashing the impressions he has gotten of him over his Presidency though I believe he liked Darrell Hammond impression of him
Actually. SNL hasn't been funny for decades. The only one on this list that mattered was Gilda Radner. When is that darn fork going to be found? SNL is done.
It makes me exceedingly happy that KLG hated KW’s impression of her. You just KNOW she made all kinds of calls to network executives to make it stop, but they probably thought it was hilarious, too, so they told her to pound sand.
If this video was made in 2025, Matt Gaetz would probably be in there. About a week before Sarah Sherman portrayed him, I suggested on Reddit that they should pull a Sean Spicer move and have a woman play Matt. Now I hope Kimmel will call him Sarah some day, like he called Spencer, Melissa once.
SNL portrayed Clinton, Obama, and biden, but i guess neither of the men were upset about it. They made quite a few pot shots at biden, lol. It's all in good fun.
Chet Hanks (Tom Hanks son) does a much better Trump. I thought it was passably funny (Kind of like Kate McKinnon's vampire Giuliani) but not a good impersonation at all.
Thank you. Anybody with any objectivity would be able to see it was a terrible impression. Every day people on social media can do a better impression.
Yeah, I think making fun of a blind person, no matter their occupation, is crossing a line. They should be commended for overcoming a debilitating impairment, not mocked to any degree. Melissa McCarthy as Sean spicer… whoever in the SNL writers room thought this was a good idea… we’re all in debt to you!

Not one of it was funny though.
@@MauriceDeClerkMeh. Humor is subjective.

Fey as Palin was spot on gold. If she was offended, it was cause she didn’t like the truth.
To me this is the all time greatest impersonation in SNL history.
100% Agreed
Tina did an awesome job
She wasn’t offended. In fact Palin called it as “hilarious.”
Also, they both are so look alike, I confused which one is the real Sarah Palin.
Courtney Love was not happy with Molly Shannon’s portrayal of her, but it was superb.
The Kathy Lee Gifford one was hilarious!! But everything Kristin Wiig does is hilarious! I remembered Fred Aniston doing the blind guy walking in front of the camera thing, that had me laughing so hard!! It was hilarious!! Thanks SNL!!
If SNL were to satirize me, in any manner, I would be very flattered, no matter how unflattering it were.
I'd have a panic attack
Exactly.
The fact that Kathy Lee Gifford was offended by her portrayal is hilarious in and of itself!
She is a caricature of herself🤷🏻♀️
Kathie Lee has always taken herself waaaaay too seriously. Folks like her generally lack any sense of humor.
Its always funny when ppl are like "I tell it like it IS, and i dont care whose feelings i hurt" get butthurt when they get it back lol
It's pretty hilarious that Meghan McCain thought it was the impersonation that made her a laughingstock.

I’m surprised that palin was on the list since they brought her in and she watched one of Tina’s performances. She was seen laughing next to Lorne
Aw man, I was waiting for Mark Wahlberg and Andy Samberg! 😂 “Say hi to your mother for me!”
Hands Down the worst was Chevy Chase as Gerald Ford
Eh. It was proto-Kaufman humor. The joke was how half-assed it was and that Ford had no personality to speak of.
@@mjsicinski True, but the question was which is the WORST impression on SNL. Andy was a Dadaist, Chevy was a clown.

Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump! How could you NOT include that!?

If I were Fran Leibowitz, I would hate any impersonation of me too.
It should be an honor to be paradied on SNL.
why no "honor" for all the clowns in the biden administration? karine jean pierre was a terrible press secretary sweeping for the lies of the regime.
Kyle Mooney as Scorsese REALLY had me laughing, especially if you saw the interview with Lebowitz it was based on.
Number 1 who is the only one who did make a legit claim. The other people did need to light up
Melissa McCarthy's impression made us all laugh at time when we were all crying ... and laughing at the States.
I feel that Spicer going to therapy because of Melissa McCarthy’s impression of him…not his immoral duties to the Orange one…extremely hilarious.
Our president ❤❤❤❤❤
Never understood how KLG suddenly had a problem with Wiig's impersonation when it's borderline affectionate compared to Cheri Oteri's Kathie Lee.
Sean spicer with Melissa should have been number one
Anyone who gets parodied by one of the SNL cast has arrived, in my opinion!
Melissa Carone, Rudy Gulliani's voter fraud "star" witness. But then, she wrote her own SNL script in real-time.

Worst impression? Chevy Chase as Gerald Ford. Most people couldn't sound less like Gerry Ford if they TRIED.
