  • Two huge explosion rocked the Lebanese capital Beirut on Tuesday, wounding dozens of people, shaking buildings and sending huge plumes of smoke billowing into the sky.
Lebanese media carried images of people trapped under rubble, some bloodied, after the massive explosions, the cause of which was not immediately known.
A security source confirmed that two explosions shook the port area of the city, Lebanon’s largest urban area, leaving dozens wounded.

That's bc you know first hand exactly what something like this entails. The magnitude of the injuries, death, its astonishing. I'm a triage nurse and I have a hard time watching something of this magnitude bc I know the injuries are horrific and the mental trauma is going to last a lifetime on everyone. Some hospitals are destroyed and maxed...People trapped....its, I'm at a loss for words. Heartbreaking

Mount saint helens erupted and a photographer knew he wasn’t going to survive. He took as many pictures as he could and put his camera in the bag and curled around it. His pictures were definitely helpful. But even in his last moments he knew it would be important
If you survive an explosion while filming, I think it’s pretty safe to say you should keep filming if only to record you’re still alive. Of course while moving to safety or rushing to help someone close by. Very rarely do we get footage of aftermaths except oral accounts. But in this day and age it is a good thing we have Cameras in everybody’s hands

It's likely worse for many INside, as the blast wave can bounce around a rooms interior, the percussion alone can collapse lungs. However, outside there's obviously a far higher risk of being hit by MASSIVE pieces of debris. Look at what's left of those IMMENSE grain silos alone, that material has to have gone somewhere. Pure devastation. I hope the incredibly low number of fatalities (135 upon my typing this) stays there, though the realist in me knows this is going to end up far, far worse. But hey, if it weren't for Covid lock downs there would have most certainly been FAR more people in the vicinity of the blast.

0:29 I’ve seen this on many other shots. There’s a small dark orange orb (it’s visible behind that street lamp near the bottom) of a smaller explosion just before the huge blast. That must’ve been what triggered it. Many little ones at first, than that one little dark orange blast, then the mushroom cloud engulfs everything.
0:53 there it is again. As soon as it “goes out” the HUGE blast comes immediately after.

@arikthegreatnot at all. OP is exaggerating. It's about 1/5th of the hiroshima bomb and 1/7th of nagasaki's. Beirut's explosion was about the equivalent of 3 kilotons of TNT while little boy was 15 kilotons. And nukes are also detonated hundreds of meters above ground for maximum damage. Beirut's was on the ground so it had less effects anyway. When you know that fat man and little boy are some of the smallest nukes ever detonated...it puts things in perspective.

    The basics to know:
Firework Factory located in Beirut has killed so far reported 100's.Starting with a small Explosion leading to a giant Explosion.Second had lots more expansion of breeze from the Explosion and managed to shove People to the ground.Unfortunatley,People may die if only injured as their Health Care system was already bad.Main hospitals were affected and power went out meaning anyone on life support sadly died.
    How did it happen?
No one knows right now but, many are guessing a product mixed with an explosive firework had managed to create a chemical reaction leading to an Explosion.
First guesses and or Conspiracies at first sight:
Many thought an earthquake had started and ducked down, although it were not an earthquake they did the right thing at the time.Magority of People guessed that happened and no one has a different comment we know of.
    Minor injuries occured:
People were in bad pain and bleeding.Broken Bones.Very few Panic Attacks and or Seizures.
    Major injuries occured:
Loss of hearing for up to 3 seconds - 4-5 minutes.Dust from Explosion in the eye.Bruised Knees.Scars on Body.
    What happened in the Event?:
As the Explosion(s) occured,Shards of glass flew outside and or inside meaning people could be stabbed. If they were not stabbed they would of had blood over them from cuts.
If People survived with a Major injury, what would be the downside?:
People would be left with no homes,no cars and no money due to helping with the fixes.
What about any company's that could go bankrupt?:
Insurance company's would be bankrupt as they would spend so much money trying to pay for the houses and or cars problems to be fixed or rebuilt.
What if people were outside or in shops?:
People in Elevators would either drop due to the support of walls breaking and or they would suddenly stop with no power.
Overrall I hope everyone is safe and will recover if they were harmed.

This bomb was equivalent to 500 tons of TNT
Hiroshima is equivalent to 15,000 tons of TNT
A typical large warhead is equivalent to 10,000,000 tons of TNT.
Now if this bomb looks big to you, like the other guy said there are nukes that are thousands of times more powerful than this. As for mushroom clouds, all bombs typically make them as the heat from their initial blast rises up, the air rushing back in after the bomb helps as well, a pillar is left as the heated ball of air rises and cools.
Nukes exaggerate this just because of their size, and no that shock wave wasn't a mushroom cloud - some bombs display this depending on the humidity/nature of the atmosphere.
