    You left out a very important one, training and education! I spent $1,000 going to a three day seminar which included the flight, lodging, car rental and the seminar price. I learned about a new product and software package that I have never heard of before. By using this new software and adding new product, I've added $46,000 in sales over the last three years. I also learned about other ways to photograph and equipment use and made some new friends. Never stop learning! That's why I watch your channel and many other UA-camrs.

    Flash, good camera backpack, 70-200 f2.8, spare (official) battery, spare (and good) memory cards, Adobe photography plan and topaz DeNoiseAI. That's my 6 just before starting the vid! Lol

    Hi Rob,good video again as usual.For straps I use an Op-Tech dual harness for one or both cameras.The clips are very secure and I trust them 100%.I've read some bad things about relying on that screw-in piece that goes in the tripod bush.There was a discussion recently on the EOS Magazine forum on how people secure their gear,and a couple had the screw attachment fail leading to the camera dropping off it onto the ground.
    It was secure to start but had worked loose without them knowing,not good!One guy fashioned a steel cable to fit it and now has no concerns on the body falling off.
    I get your point about insurance for your gear,,always advisable to have it.
    Anyway,keep up the good work with more vids!
    Remember I told you I was getting a Media Pass for a big local event for last month?It all went great and got me where I needed to be,backstage and in front of the crowd barrier etc. and the agency who supplied the pass published 30 images out of the 36 I sent them.I've been invited back next year

    I would not give you a nickel for a camera strap. My camera stays on a tripod, even when doing wildlife on the run I just fold the tripod shut and use it like a monopod. But that is just how I roll; for some people it is an absolute necessity. Good video.

    I went from a point-and-shoot Canon to 'cameras that have lenses that change.' So I admit I did aim for the camera body first (I went with the R6 - LOVE IT!) But as I am adding lenses, I am trying to go for ones that will be with me for a long time. When I'm not sure about a lens (like the f11 600 mm), I've tried renting first. If I really miss it, I figure I should get it. (I went with the 100-500 RF instead.)

    I would put #6 at #1. Most newcomers and even some seasoned working pros think that their client's insurance, or their own auto/homeowners insurance will cover theft and damage. Better look again, because they won't, especially the auto and homeowners if you operate a business from your home and use your personal car in business. It is always best to purchase a business liability policy with an equipment rider - at this point $2/5 million or $5/10 million with a minimum of $10k equipment rider is a good start.

    Another great video Rob. I think the biggest game-changer for me was upgrading to good-quality fast glass, I was nervous about spending vast sums of money on them but they really have improved my photography hugely. A photographer friend once advised me that you date your camera body but marry your lenses and my lenses are also on their 3rd camera body now. I am currently looking at upgrading my laptop, I have always been a Windows guy but the new M1 Macbooks look awesome. Do you know anyone who'd be interested in a kidney?? ;-)

    I’m only a hobby photographer and finally managed to stop my wife renewing the House Contents Insurance, crap policy costing a fortune with the bank, I got a decent policy for half the price but with a £2000 out of home New for Old accidental damage or loss cover. I know, only £2000 but I only had an entry level dslr worth £329 new and the 1st Canon G7X, 5 basic lenses and a £50 backpack. Two months later my bag slipped down a 10 foot embankment into a river, followed by me with the two cameras, they paid out no problem, which allowed me to upgrade to a Fuji Xt3, which I must say a year later I’m still not sure about.

    • @RobSambles
      @RobSambles  3 роки тому

      Yep - it becomes so valuable when you need it! I don't have personal experience with the Fuji unfortunately

    Have to agree Rob good glass is the investment that keeps on giving. And if you did ever want to sell on it holds value fare better than camera bodies. I never ceased to be amazed by people who will pay thousands on camera bodies and then begrudge spending a fraction on best quality cards and other peripherals totally false economy. Super video with real insight behind the need for just the latest camera. 👏👏👏👏

    Interesting - nice walkthrough :D
    This week I invested in a new body (1DX with two good CF cards). It has seen some Premier League football in the UK :D Had the opportunity to get a 24-70 MK2. But upgrading to one or two R6s within a year, it's more likely that I get the RF 28-70 + 70-200. What I need the most, is a 300mm f/2.8 - used are still pricy :P

    Rob, I only have one item of interest. I have all the lenses I need but one. I was going to get the EF 24-70 f2.8 but never did. I could not decide between the 24-70 and the 16-35 for my needs. So I never got any good basketball lens. But now I have the R6. Now I am considering one of three. I am not going back and getting the EF 24-70. For the R6, my choices are the RF 24-70 or the RF 15-35 or the RF 28-70 f2 and maybe even the RF 16 f2.8(astro). Tough decision. I do have the RF 24-105 f4 but that is not a great indoor sports lens unless the gym is well lit. Any thoughts?

    • @RobSambles
      @RobSambles  3 роки тому +1

      For me it would be the 24-70 initially but then maybe if you already have the 24-105 then perhaps the 15-35. Or if low light if your primary concern the 28-70 f2. Tough decision!

    • @angelogarciajr5356
      @angelogarciajr5356 3 роки тому

      @@RobSambles It is starting to look like my confusion will again prevent me from choosing one again, lol I feel good about the RF 16mm f2.8 for stars after I see some reviews how it does in astro and also for after game team photos up close? So now it is between the RF 24-70 and the 28-70 f2. Leaning toward the F2 for just a little bit more. Thanks
