sos is a remastered version of has, has is very messy he goes around the meta but he cant even master the meta, Sos is doing everything right outside and inside the meta
I am asking why??? couple weeks ago he played same proxy bullshit against sOs and he lost all games, and now he did it again.. I really dont understand, why he didnt play normal game at least once?
I wish the crowd would cheer for everybody. It's sad to hear an announcer announce a pro gamer and it's dead silent. Get some cheerleaders or something to get the crowd pumped!
Well i think what Maru said in his signature vid was true. The high expectations everyone had bothered him and if he thinks about them it ends up like his career in the last few years. Maybe the best player on the ladder but wasnt made for the stressfull environment of a big tournament.
Maru's a great player, but he got exposed so hard this series. He does the Proxy EVERY game. He gotta learn more than 1 build smh. Disappointed af, but honestly if Maru played like this, Serral woulda wiped him off the floor.
What are you talking about? Yes he proxies, but that doesn't mean it's the same proxy build. He did 3 different builds in every game. And people keep saying : the reason why Terrans keep proxing vs toss is, because toss is stronger midgame and also late game. I am also not a fan of all time proxy, excspecially in game 3. Although he only proxies the barracks. You can hardly call it a true proxy, cause barracks outside base is more or less only a poke.
Maru only proxy vs protoss, especially Neeb because Neeb build is a little greedy in early (if you watch his games you'd noticed he alway made a little more probes than his opponent, this cause him to be extremely vulnerable to early aggression but if his gamble pays off he'd be extremely strong in mid/late game.) but this is blizzcon, Maru should had know his korean counterparts, his teammate even, know this play and had built a way to countered it, unlike stubborn Neeb.
Why would he? widow mines and cyclones just kill EVERY protoss unit ... so why not proxxy and have a 90% winrate with them? if their units were less superior they might have to play normal once in a while...
@@clemensschomburg8693 After the Stats lost to Serral in Midgame and late Game, you still can say there is strong??? Maru have playing proxy and left behind how he play is the main problem he lose. He play like sOs in Terran version mode
I think he just got outsmarted and was on tilt whole time. He had no idea what to do against the pylon on his ramp and by the time the cannons the series was over. smiling maru is always a bad sign
If you watch the pre-game video intro thing they do, seems like Maru is not in a good mental state. I think the expectations and the fact that he's never had the chance for a normal childhood is weighing on him a lot.
About time someone gave Maru a taste of his own medicine! I liked for him to win but if he continued with just proxy and win the most impt event of SC2 again, I'm afraid he would destroy the game entirely.
@Marek Madej Maru beat Stats in 4-2 in GSL though. It's not so simple to rank the players. SoS just has Maru figured out, it seems, or Maru underestimated SoS.
spoiler: its so rare to see maru look mortal. You can tell sOs prepared like a madman for maru's terran proxy strategy and going as far as outproxying the proxy king.
In the final game when all the stalkers warped in he could have possible seiged the tank and sent the mineral line on a intercept/block. The splash would kill the scv's but he would have cleaned up most of the stalkers it would have been close and down to who could target fire/micro better.
None of these games were standard and sOs never allowed any to go into mid or late game. Maru's play was way too predictable, especially against someone on his own team. He did his stock standard proxy builds and sOs mixed up his strategy very well to counter. Sad that we could not see a Maru v Serral final
spoiler: I think Maru's mentality wasn't the greatest coming into this tournament. He is of course the best Terran of SC2 and GOAT on multiple levels, but he feels WAY too much pressure from both others and himself... and that's the kind of mental state that sOs knows exactly how to exploit and dismantle.
I think the proxy meta is over after this game (at least for PvT). Great game for sOs, he probably had too much practice with Maru and eventually developed this style.
That was awesome. The one thing I wonder about in SoS's play though, is why in game 2 he didn't put a cannon on the high ground above the relocated base of Maru. It was just 250 minerals to quickly and completely shut down the mining and take out 1 or 2 more scvs, forcing another relocation. Instead, Maru was able to mine for a while as SoS built stalkers. Did SoS _not_ want Maru to relocate immediately for tactical reasons?
I think sos seriously studied maru's play at home. sos spot maru's weakness --- the sterotyped play. sos just expected every action from maru. The moral of the story is that every approach has its strength and weakness. If u r so predictable, ur opponent will find counter measures to punish u.

Also this kinda makes me wonder, did maru lose on purpose? because he was afraid of fighting serral and losing, because then serral would have beaten ALL The current korean champions and the GSL would have lost complete face. so did he let himself be killed so people can still go "omg serral never beat maru waaaah waah!" like babies?
Nah, man. SOS prepared a great deal against Maru as you can see in these games. He could smell Maru's cheese from a mile away, and calculated every move to counter it to everybody's surprise. In a straight up match, Maru would have a better chance.
People knew all through gsl and he won. It's not cheese - most of his wins we're an aggressive proxy opening in to a macro game. In this series, it's like he threw. It's just horrible decision making. What's the point in a rax diagonal, away from both players?
Maru never even had pressure. Why the proxy nowhere near your base or the opponent? Didn't get to see sOs play even. Maru just lost. Horrible play. I don't get it.
